In Love With My Professor

“What are you doing here?” I ask, breathless as Kiernan gets up from the couch and stands behind me. 


“Oh that doesn’t matter young lady…are you dating your professor?” She asks, in a perturbed tone. 


Kiernan behind me took a sharp breath and let out a shaky one, as my mother looks at him with disgust. 


“Stop looking at him like that.” I said and she looked at me with the same expression. “And yes we’re dating. It’s really none of your business.” 


“You’re my daughter so this is definitely my business.” She snaps back. 


Scoffing, I reply, bitterly, “Oh yeah? And suddenly your motherly instincts kick in because I am going against you.” 


My dad comes downstairs equally surprised, his eyes landing on my mom as he walks up to us and whispers something in her ear in a hushed tone. She rolls his eyes, gives me a death glare and then walks off behind my dad towards a room. 


“I am sorry.” I say turning to look at an uncomfortable Kiernan.
