"Hey Nick. Wait for me!"
After we both decided to leave, Nick said he had something to show me, but as soon as we got out of the ballroom, he raced off. Normally, I can keep up with him, but I don't think I could run in this dress, without tripping up and falling over, ruining the dress in the process.
"I'm not running in this dress Nick, so you either have to carry me, or slow down!" He better have heard me, or else it's gonna take a while for me to catch up. He starts to slow down, indicating that did hear me, but I see the mischief in his eyes, so it doesn't really surprise me that he speeds back up when I get close to him.
"Nick! You really want me to chase you, in this dress?" He shrugs at me.
As I was thinking over my options, I remember that I have something to my advantage... I've got guards following me. And since he went off without any warning -he didn't see them appear. So when he sees me fighting a smile, he looks at me, suspiciously.
"Get him, guys!" I look behind me, as I see Gavin and Derek, fully sprinting and with their game faces on. I look back at Nick, just in time, to see his face drop with the realisation that I've outsmarted him for once. When he finally snaps out of his trance, Gavin and Derek have already pinned him against a wall.
"Thanks guys, you've been a big help." I try not to laugh at the situation Nick is in. Both the guys nod at me and then let him go.
"That was so not fair!" He brushes the dirt off his suit.
"Oh, but wanting me to chase you in this dress is fair?" I may not be able to run in this dress, but I sure can argue.
"Hey, I never said I wanted you to chase me." Yeah, sure.
I was about to reply but then I hear commotion and go to investigate it, with Nick falling behind.
The closer I got to where the commotion was coming from, the more I could hear that it was people talking. Once I got close enough to investigate, I soon recognised some voices that I heard around in the town quite frequently. Nick explains that the townspeople come out here to discuss what's happening in the town, and that they do it monthly.
"The princess came over to the orphanage today and actually came up with a plan to save the building, I've never seen the kids so mesmerized with her words before!" I recognised Cathy's voice. "I'm pretty sure there's something going on with her and Nick... I'm not really sure about this, but I could have sworn they were struggling to keep their hands to themselves."
"I've seen how they look at each other, and let me tell you it's the same look my husband gave me before I married him, if you catch my drift."
After listening to them talk about their thoughts on mine and Nick's relationship for what feels like hours, I start to get cold, so we start making our way back to the castle. While on our way back, we huddle up together, both using the excuse that we're cold, and we enjoy the time we have together, while it lasts. Gavin and Derek head back to their respective rooms near the entrance of the castle, as they bid us both goodnight. It's not long after, that Nick and I are doing the same.
"Good night, Sunshine"
"Good night, Nick."
We kiss goodbye, both of us tempted to linger and postpone the other leaving, but knowing we're both tired and need rest. So we go our separate ways to our rooms to get ready to sleep.
I get changed, and make sure that the dress is back, neatly in the wardrobe, before I go to the bathroom to remove my makeup. Once I'm done, I tuck myself into bed and think about spending more time with Nick, and what we could do together. There's endless possibilities with what that man's capable of...
