Five years. Five years since my life changed completely.

It had been five years since dad left me and there’s not one day that I hadn’t thought about him. When I was still home, I tried my best not to break down because of mum but now that I am without her, it just makes it ten times harder to cope with it. It just reminded me of how much his death changed things.

I looked to my ceiling, my eyes bloodshot from lack of sleep, my head hot as a result of over thinking.

I just stared at nothing in particular as memories of us came reeling back, one of which stood out for me. I was eleven and had just gotten back from school and dad was home and we had a conversation that I’d never forget;

“Hey dad, why are you home?” I asked as I dropped my bag on the chair and ran to hug him.

He laughed “Well, it has been long since my princess and I had some time together. So, I said why not”

I looked at him skeptically “Hm sure dad?” he nodded.
