Awakening

Saint-Domingue, Cayes-Jacmel

Fort Quintus

October 18, 1798

As Atem opens his eyes he immediately feels the changes brought about by his new status as a Campione. For starters, despite looking directly into the sun, Atem finds that his eyes have no problem seeing and do not suffer from the sun's burning rays. The second thing that he notices is that his magic circuits have turned into a magic core and his magical reserves have increased by hundreds fold. With the amount of magical energy that he possesses now he can easily hold his reality marble active for days and even use Ma'at at the same time as his reality marble. In addition to that, he can feel the increased toughness of his bones, his reinforced musculatory system, and a new power that he can easily access with his mind, the [Authority] that he usurped from Baphomet.

Focusing on this new power, Atem gently coaxes it in a way that one might coax their pet. Without a moment of delay the [Authority] answers like an excited child answering a parent's call and Atem receives all of the information related to it.

Its name is Singing Spellbook, and it is an [Authority] with an unlimited amount of potential should it be put to good use. Simply put, the [Authority] summons a book where all the magic that exists on earth can be written and executed successfully by this spell book. For example, the spells this authority can use are teleportation, dimension traveling, portal opening, scouting, and even clairvoyance. It is also capable of stealing knowledge about arcane arts from other individuals. Atem can choose to take only one spell or all of them from his target and the stolen spell will be inscribed into the tome. As of right now it only contains the spells that Atem himself knows which only comprises of the divine words and his reality marble, but as time goes on and he experiences and sees more spells, the book will slowly fill.

"Come to me, spell out the carved book with disinherited knowledge, for my desire is to incorporate the wonders of the occult. " chants Atem as he sits up.

With the aria spoken and his magical energy used as fuel, a book made of two interlocking tablets appears in front of Atem and opens itself up. Looking at the two tablets that do not seem to be able to hold more than a dozen spells within them, Atem can see all of the spells belonging to the divine words. From Ha-di to Ma'at, they are all present alongside the procedure needed to summon a combat avatar from the Egyptian combat magic branch. A feat which is quite impressive considering that there is no aria that is spoken to use combat magic.

"Ha-di" chants Atem as he faces one of the few remaining walls of the castle.

Despite not putting much power in the spell, the wall is completely destroyed in the resulting explosion and even the rubble is made up of nothing more than pebbles.

"Perfect." says Atem with a laugh. "Not only can it record any form of magic, but it also amplifies the spells when the [Authority] is used as a medium." comments the new Campione with a smirk as he dismisses the book. "With this I can even use my weaker spells to combat a Heretic God." he says as he stands up and surveys his surroundings.

Despite having awoken a day after his battle with Baphomet, Atem is the first to awaken in the entirety of Caye-Jacmel. Everyone else will most likely wake up in one more day due to the effects of Ma'at.

"Bastet, Sekhmet." calls out Atem, causing the two sphinxes to materialise out into the open world. With a smile on his face, Atem proceeds to pet the two sphinxes while they rub their heads on his leg. With his new magic core and massive amount of magical energy, Bastet and Sekhmet can now stay within the real world indefinitely without reducing the amount of magical energy that he possesses. As such, he sees no reason to keep them inside his reality marble.

"Congratulations." says Aknadin as he appears in front of Atem. "Not only are you free, but you have also become a Campione, a being that is no longer bound by fate and cannot be considered to be human. Now tell me Atem, have your plans changed?" he asks.

"No." replies Atem as Atem stops petting the sphinxes and the shrink themselves to the size of a lion cub before leaping onto his arms. "I still plan on liberating the island. However, I have now decided that I will turn this island into my Kingdom." says Atem. "Previously I hesitated due to not believing in a need to rule. I was content with simply freeing myself, Adanna, and the island. However, my encounter with Baphomet made me realise that I am a Pharaoh, and Pharaohs are born to lead, to guide, to rule. We are existences born superior to all in order to guide and rule them. It would be very remiss of me not to accept my duty." explains Atem as he gently pets the two cubs in his arms.

"So you finally understand." says Aknadin as he proudly looks upon the child he has taught and raised for the past four years. "It is a Pharaoh's duty to rule their people justly regardless of whether or not they are in Egypt, and for the past centuries our bloodline has been lacking of anyone worthy to do so. Now however, you are here, a child who not only has the potential, but is also worthy of the title Pharaoh. All you need to do now is take it. Free your enslaved people on this island and lead them into a revolution that will liberate this island of your oppressors. Build your Kingdom upon this rock and remind the world of the glory of this bloodline!" proclaims Aknadin passionately before returning to Atem's reality marble.

"Worry not about Adanna. I will take good care of her while also helping her recover from the ailments of her enslaved life." says Aknadin from within Atem's soul.

"Very well, I shall entrust her well being to you." replies Atem as he reaches out to his [Authority], the Singing Spellbook.

"Come to me, spell out the carved book with disinherited knowledge, for my desire is to incorporate the wonders of the occult. " chants the young Godslayer, causing a book made of two interlocking tablets to appear in front of him and open itself up with a small pulse of golden light.

"Drowah!" encants Atem as he uses the Singing Spellbook to cast the spell.

With Atem as the center, a massive circular wall of light erupts from the ground before quickly expanding to encompass the entirety of Cayes-Jacmel while turning from a circular wall of light into a dome that covers the entire port city as well as a few miles outside of the city.. Once the boundary has been set, the dome of light shimmers into invisibility. With it covering Cayes-Jacmel, all those who enter will not find anything unusual about the city. Even if they see black men and women not of mulatto descent freely wandering about they will find nothing odd about it, they will simply go about their business normally before leaving the city. In addition, once they leave they will not remember anything unusual about the city. They will remember seeing black men and women not of mulatto descent in chains and enslaved. The final function of the boundary is to protect the city from any external attack. Nothing short of a Heretic God manifesting can harm the city from the outside.

With that done, Atem looks around the destroyed Fort and decides to do something about that.

"Heh-sieh" encants Atem, causing the destroyed Fort as well as the city of Cayes-Jacmel to turn back into its non damaged state.

With the city repaired as well as a protective boundary set, Atem turns his sight to a more pressing matter, the slave masters, the overseers, and anyone else involved in the slave trade that resides in Cayes-Jacmel.

Clocktower Report on the Descent of a Heretic God by Sealing Designation Enforcer Anzu

On October 17, 1798 AD, on the French colony of Saint-Domingue, a heretic god descended upon the Earth at midnight. No more than five minutes after the god descended did madness completely overtake the city of Cayes-Jacmel along with miles of the surrounding territories. Within that madness, the people began to kill, maim, and cripple each other. I could see the madness take hold of their minds as brother turned brother, mothers turned against sons, and all begin to attack one another with some people even comitting acts of self mutilation and suicide. The madness spanned for at least 79 kilometers, and amplified negative emotions like lust, rage, greed and envy to the utmost level to make beasts out of men, women, and children.

Five minutes, that's how long the presence of the heretic god could be felt within the city before it completely disappeared, five minutes that I do not know how I survived without falling into madness, and five minutes where I defended myself against the population while also doing the best not to permanently harm them. Despite the heretic god's presence being felt for only five minutes, there is undeniable proof that the deity was not killed until around fifteen to twenty minutes after its descent, leaving me to wonder what could possibly be powerful enough to shield the city from its presence.

After the disappearance of the heretic god's presence, I began to make my way towards the location of the deity's descent, Fort Quintus, home of the Quintus family and my original targets for coming to this wretched island. Before I could even make it halfway there, a golden flame, bright enough to be confused for the sun, appeared in the night sky, illuminating the entire island. With a powerful voice calling out to Ma'at herself, the flames exploded outwards and engulfed everything that fell into madness due to the heretic god's descent, me included.

Instead of being burned by the flames, I felt euphoric, empowered and cleansed. My wounds were healed and my fatigue was washed away in seconds. Unfortunately however, the power and feeling of euphoria proved to be far too much for my psyche and I fell unconscious soon after.

It was not until two days later did I finally awake, shackled, and facing the new Campione, Atem. A former slave that is only eight years old and is called Samael by those who once worked for Basilius Quintus. Personally I find that Samael is a more fitting name for this new Devil King.

AN: Here's the newest chapter, a bit shorter than usual but I felt that making it longer would be dragging it out. As usual tell me what you guys think and don't be afraid to tell me your theories on what's next for Atem. I love reading them.
