Chapter 4

"It's because I hate you. Why does an android like you get to have such a fine man like that?"

"You can have him if you want"

"I'm straight, dummy. But even I know how to appreciate a fine man. Why won't you just go out with him? We've been trying to get you a date for like ever and this man comes licking your feet. Do you think we'll let this go?"

"Do you think the rumor of him being in the mafia was just a rumor? It didn't look to me like that"

"Stop psychoanalyzing and judging everyone, okay? I get it, you're a genius at identifying people but you might not always be correct"

"He locked me up in chains and is obsessed with me"

"You did say he saw you trying to kill yourself. If I were him, you'd still be in chains. Besides, being obsessed with you is a good trait. That means he'll never leave you"

"You're a psychologist and you're also my friend. How could you say that?"

"It is because you're my friend that I say that. You're a genius, Giselle. If even you can't cure him then it'll be a real shame"

"I don't cure people. I treat people who want to be treated and hope for recovery. It seems to me like you too need treatment. Sign up and I'll help you free of charge seeing you're my good friend"

"Says the one with strange marks on her arm" Matthew snorted. Giselle gasped.

"You did not just go there"

"Oh yes I did"

"You know what, I ought to...….."

"Dr, Cheadle and Dr. Park, it's opening time. Please report to your offices" a nurse came to interrupt them with a smile that read murder if they didn't agree.

"If it isn't Mrs. Park. Good morning head nurse" Giselle greeted with a smirk. Ava returned it with a sarcastic smile. She grabbed Matthew by his upper left arm and dragged him away.

Giselle chuckled, happy that she at least riled up one of them.

Ava was Matthew's wife and she had an irrational hatred for Giselle. They went to the same university and Ava chased Matthew for four years before he finally agreed to marry her. Matthew didn't have a lot of female friends but Giselle was the one he was closest to.

Some people even thought they were dating. After sorting through a lot of misunderstandings, Ava still didn't like her. Giselle didn't care though. It wasn't her cup of tea.

Giselle welcomed her first patient by 8:30 am, taking a lunch break by 12:30 pm, and finishing the day by 6 pm. She was accosted again in the lobby but this time by Matthew.

"Let's have dinner. We need to talk"

"Maybe tomorrow. Ava is glaring daggers at me and a driver is waiting outside for me. I have to go with that paranoid man since I'm going back with him"

"Then call me tonight and explain what happened on your date. If you don't remember, I'll murder you"

"Tut tut tut. Don't be so violent Dr. Park. Goodnight"

"Goodnight Giselle"

A black Benz was parked in front of the clinic. Giselle lightly knocked on the passenger window and watched it roll down.

"Excuse me Mr. Denver but you're blocking the entrance of my clinic"

"Sorry, my bad. Good evening Dr. Cheadle. Please come in so we can go park in a better spot"

Giselle opened the door and got into the car, putting on the seat belt in the process. Giselle's sense of propriety put Adam ill at ease. They left the front of the clinic and parked in a better spot.

"Seeing you come here yourself, I guess you're taking me to dinner"

Adam was once again reminded she was a psychologist and a damn good one at that.

"Yes, I have come to take you out to dinner. Do you object?"

"No. I don't like seafood too much. Whatever else works"

"Are you vegetarian?"

"No. I love beef and chicken as much as the next black girl"

"I have a good place just for you. Thankfully we don't need to make a reservation"

"Did you make a reservation before?"

"No. I didn't know what you liked so it would be foolish for me to make one"

"How thoughtful" she remarked, texting Matthew. She could tell it would take a while before she could call him.

The place Adam drove to was located on the west side of town, a bit far from his house. It was a small restaurant but it was popular among the locals. The warm atmosphere hit Giselle in the face, literally.

The place was filled with guests so she wondered where they would sit.
