Chapter 15

Adam stood up and towered over Jellal. The latter was always amazed by how tall his boss was every time. Everything he wore was tailor-made, down to his socks and underwear.

He was currently wearing a grey hoodie that would dwarf normal men in an instant and extremely long blue jean pants with fluffy indoor slippers. His attractiveness index was through the roof.

There were suspicious bloodstains on the cuffs of his sleeve which Jellal wisely chose to not question.

"Stop staring. What did you come for?"

"I wanted to question Isabella myself and remind you to take your pills. Miss Cheadle wouldn't like it if you kept skipping your doses. A nurse called from the clinic you went to yesterday. She said to choose a suitable day to schedule your appointments and she had sent the clinic's availability schedule on your work email that you dropped"

"Is that so? Have my secretary do it. I'm tired"

"Sir, about Isabella, there is something you should know"

"Hun? What is it this time?"

"Master Adrien called. He wants custody of her"

"....Seriously?"

"Yes"

"Are they messing with me? What the actual…..Reject it"

"But sir, I thought you wanted to avoid direct confrontation with SOLEMN"

"He obviously doesn't. He has been challenging me for a long time and if he sees Giselle as a weak point of mine, he would exploit the opportunity fully. I can't let her get hurt....What's wrong?"

Jellal's eyes were wide as he listened to a message on the transmitter in his ear. He stared at Adam for a while and couldn't speak.

"Well, out with it Jellal!"

"Miss Cheadle's clinic, it exploded"

"WHAT?! What did you just say?"

"I was just informed by the people we sent to keep an eye on her"

"SHIT!! Get me a car right now!!"

Adam sprinted out of the basement and to the garage. Jellal immediately contacted the guards below to prepare a car for Adam. They were quick on their feet and soon, Adam was on the road, en route to Giselle's clinic.

One hour before Adam was informed about the explosion, Giselle had arrived in the clinic with a cast on her leg. She had pulled a muscle and sprained her ankle so it was necessary. The piercing was also removed. Her feet ached badly but Matthew threatened if she didn't come, he would call the police.

She entered and the clinic was still deserted. Only two nurses had arrived and they were looking at her strangely.

"Dr. Cheadle, do you need any help?" one of the nurses asked in concern.

"Yeah. Can you get me one of those wheelchairs? My feet are killing me"

"Yeah, right away"

She sat on one of the lobby chairs and stretched her body, relaxing. She had been reckless the day before, driving arbitrarily with the piercing on her leg. No wonder it hurt so much.

"Ever since I met that man, he has brought me nothing but trouble. I should find a way to ditch him. Shit, my leg hurts" she mumbled, closing her eyes briefly. It was only when the nurse called out her name softly that she opened them.

"Thank you" she said and helped herself on the wheelchair with the nurse's help. She wheeled it to her office, moved her office chair out of the way, and opened her work laptop.

She checked her mail first and saw one from Dr. Monroe, asking her not to forget about her appointment. She typed a particularly sarcastic reply with over 1,000 words and sent it. Satisfied, she moved on to the next one.

The next mail was from someone she had never contacted before. Suspiciously, she opened the mail. It read;

'Hello Miss Cheadle, after obtaining your email, I thought about what to write and decided to just write a poem. Forgive me, I'm not a poet but here goes;

Roses are red,

Violets are blue,

If you plant a bomb,

It just goes boom'

At that moment, a loud explosion rocked the whole block, the origin; Giselle's clinic backyard. They had a patch of land there and they turned it into a garden to relax some of their patients. Smoke filled the place immediately and the two nurses who were thankfully at the front desk rushed out.

After a while, when the fire services came, they then remembered Giselle was inside. But when they went to check, both her and the wheelchair were nowhere to be found.
