Chapter 4 Puppet
If Nasuverse has Alaya and Gaia, Leon believes John Connor's ability of mechanical domain is a counter-force that his world humanity collective created to resist Skynet.
There is almost no option in this world to advanced his ability to improve this so called Mechanical Domain.
So Leon's research and try to master the Chakra Thread and Puppet Technique, the closest he could get in this world on Mechanical beings.
He succeeded to test his theory in his last Chunin exam against Chiyo son from Suna. It was quite good that he disabled his puppet while escaping from him. Most people only know him for his ability to escape and decent trap making, so this is what he shows to the people.
It doesn't make him a Chunin material by Hokage views. So when Orochimaru was promoted to Jonin in his fifth year, Leon transferred to his team. Orochimaru was interested in research, so Leon always gave him ideas. Both of them considered themselves researchers.

7th year of his entry to this world.
The start of hostilities between Suna, Iwa, and Konoha was started in their conflict on Ame. Ame who grew much stronger under Hanzo started to get more missions for Shinobi, which is detrimental to Suna. Konoha was roped when an attack happened on a Konoha outpost in the land of Fire was done by Iwa explosive corps.
Nawaki almost lost his life there, if not for the daily terror that Leon did to him in his Academy days. He still lost some of his team members, but his instinct rescued the rest of his team from ambush, and survived long enough until reinforcement arrived.
"I wonder if I should thank that bastard for his pranks or not" says Nawaki to Tsunade.
"I am more grateful to him that you could make it out alive"
"I still refuse to let you get closer to that bastard." Nawaki said with fiery eyes.
"Who said I am going out with him?" say Tsunade with red face and look aside.
"Everybody knows that he is the only person you close with outside your teammate sister" Nawaki deadpan.
"It's because he is a good friend, probably" Tsunade said still with her face turned sideways with a whisper on the last part.
Nawaki watches his sister's reaction, he sighs.
He can't complain too much about his sister's relationship with Leon. For one, that man is capable even if he is still a genin. Even he always questioned why that man was still a genin. Skill and talent wise, that man should have been a Jonin.
If you compare it, Leon act's more like Kabuto than regular Shinobi. He doesn't show his skill much. In spars and training, he never uses any excessive ninjutsu. Mostly use poison senbon, shuriken, kunai and his sword. Most of his jutsu is used in escaping the fight. He should be called a coward, but he always finishes his mission decently most of the time.
Nawaki right now is smarter than people of his age. Being harassed daily for a whole year in Academy before his grandmother passed away is really an excruciating torture, if you write it in RPG term, his SAN values is almost dropping to 0. The saddest thing is he remembered when he complained to his grandmother, she laughed it off saying it's good training for him.
Leon stops that training after the death of his grandma. But he still torture him just by visiting Tsunade once in a while. Each time he see his face, his trauma of being pranked would activate that he would check anything three times, just to make sure.
Worse as Tsunade and Leon are members of the Combat Medic force of Konoha, at least once a month Leon would show up in his house.
"Sister, did war going to happen?" he asked.
"I am afraid so. The attack on your post has forced Hokage sama to declare war on both of Iwa and Suna"
"I know the news of the Ame movement there is suspicious. So I remember him, and prepare for the worst. Well it saves both of our lives"
"I should thank him for training you right?" Tsunade said with a smile.
She kissed his forehead then left with a springing step like a little girl.
Nawaki just sigh and back to sleep.

"Leon, where are you?" ask Tsunade in a room at the Hospital.
Leon right now is mixing some herbs to treat a patient.
"Whats up Tsunade-chan?" say Leon.
"Well, Nawaki returned safely from its mission. He survive even with some injuries. And he bring back a girl with him" say Tsunade with a chirpy voice
"So whats the problem?"
"Nawaki said he like me to say thank you to you"
Leon just flick her forehead.
"Like hell he would. He still sees me as his nemesis. He would even rather go three blocks around the corner just to not meet me" Leon laugh while saying it.
"It's your own fault to make yourself like God of Misfortune on him" pout Tsunade. But she still chuckle talking about it.
"So how do you thank me?"
"How about dinner at Yakiniku Q ?" she asked. Leon always goes to Yakiniku. He really loves to eat meat.
"Meat, here I come" says Leon with a happy face. Tsunade just smiled watching him.
Relationship between Tsunade and Leon became a well known secret on Konoha. The Senju Princess, the Medical Genius and the lazy Medic. What do you expect from someone who is still a Genin while his girlfriend is already Jonin?
Leon takes it slow, as Tsunade only told her love to him a year ago. Most of the time Leon doesn't understand what she sees of him. But he has the tendency to accept and care for people who love him.
Tsunade enjoys Leon company most of the time. He cares for people in his own way. He once made Jiraiya traumatized peeking on a female bath. Orochimaru became more sociable, not too focused on his research, and Leon always helped her ease her worries. He even supports her to make a proper analysis from a combat report of the First Shinobi war about the need of trained Combat Medic in a team. His Logic is a team must have at least 1 member who could do an emergency first aid treatment. He also shows that the death toll could be reduced to 2% by a proper system of Medivac in the frontline.
Considering that Shinobi battles are no different than modern warfare, with kunai and shuriken replacing the gun, jutsu replacing the heavy armaments. So his report papers is based on modern analysis and compiled combat reports from the first Shinobi War.
One year of training would make a whole lot of difference. It is also this policy that saved Nawaki and his surviving team mates as Nawaki was trained as Combat Medic.
"Are you still researching puppetry?" ask Tsunade.
"Well, It's just a hobby," he answered.
Tsunade has seen his puppets and workshop at his home. He mixes chemicals, put bombs , spring and gear into his puppet to make it a formidable weapon. Strangely he made it mostly from metal rather than chakra wood like ordinary puppeteer.
Advanced Robotic is still far off in this world. But his domain made him able to control the puppet with less chakra thread than others. His goal is to increase the range and ability of his Domain.
