A Danav By Derailment Of Destiny (2)

"Rava is a sweet boy, very helpful," said an old man eating a banana. His eyes gazing at a young woman in blue saree lecherously… or was he looking at the older woman beside her?

"Rava-bhaiya is funny and really good at games," said a grinning little girl, showing her missing tooth.

"Rava saved my boy once from a wild dog," said a woman whose little boy with a runny nose was clutching to her saree behind her, afraid of Chetas. He wondered what it was that scared the little boy – Chetas' smile or the katar and talwar strapped to his waist.

"Rava-bhaiya saved me from the older kids who were beating me up," said a boy with a split lip and a black eye with multiple cuts on his fingers, although that was probably from his work of carpentry.

"You're a weird man. Why do you have two coloured eyes?" asked a kid with a big nose, who figured it was proper to answer a question with another. Chetas saw that the boy was carrying a bag of apples. Further proving his point that the people who ate apples are the worst of humankind. No respect for privacy and no manner of talking, whatsoever.

Aside from that one interaction, his investigation as a whole was … interesting. Or rather, troublesome. From the various evidence that he gathered in the village, the Danav was apparently a very kind hearted person. It made it even harder for Chetas to believe the words of his mad client.

He glanced at the heavy pouch strapped to his black sash.

If the claims of his client were to be proven false, he wouldn't have to do his job. If he didn't do his job, he wouldn't get to keep his payment. And if he didn't get to keep his payment, he would have to go another night empty bellied.

But then again, there was no agreement between them on refunds.

Still, this Danav that the villagers, except his client, called Rava… He certainly raised some curiosity within his mind.

Who was this Rava?
