Chapter 11 Traveling to the main continent

After the cloud of smoke created by the explosion died down the view became clearer. The tortoise hadn't died, it only had a sliver of health left. Which was the best-case scenario for Ella.

"Stop attacking it!" she yelled.

She then went up to the tortoise that was weary of her and seemed to be scared as she approached it.

"I'm sorry we attacked you, but we need your help. If you accept my offer to become my summon, I promise you, you will never have to suffer like you just did."

The tortoise seemed to think about it for a second, and then it seemed to nod its head.

Ella reached out and put her hand on the tortoise's head. A bright blue light started to shine which engulfed both. When the light faded only Ella remained. She succeeded in taming the tortoise.

"Alright, let's get out of here." James said.

They headed back to the forest cabin they had been staying at and decided to get a good night sleep and travel the next day.

They each gained a level from that dungeon exploration. James used this and the three other skill points to acquire four more skills; leap, purify, fire spear and mirage. Brodin used his skill point to increase the level of his tremor skill. Ella used her skill point to acquire her last possible skill: borrow. This skill allows the user to use the abilities of one of its summonses, however the abilities are weaker than when they are used by the summon.

The next day:

The light of the rising sun shone through the window and landed on James his face waking him up. He was the first of the trio to wake up. He decided to go out and try to gather some fruit and other helpful items before they set out for their journey across the sea.

When James returned Brodin and Ella had packed their bags and were also ready to head out. As the trio headed to the beach, they tried looking at a map of Europe. Trying to figure out where they were supposed to go.

They eventually decided to set out and try to reach the Netherlands.

Ella summoned the crystal tortoise and the three climbed on its back and made themselves comfortable for their journey ahead.

During their journey across the sea, they saw a lot of aquatic monsters. None of which attacked them as they were on the back of the giant tortoise.

After a 10-hour long journey they finally made it to the Netherlands. They arrived in the Hague, at Scheveningen port.

When they started to explore the city, they saw that there were a lot of little floodings. They soon arrived at the city centre they decided to set up their base at binnenhof.

When they arrived at binnenhof they discovered some other survivors. They all gathered at the same place as this place was easy to defend.

"Who are you and why are you here!" someone yelled at them from behind the gate.

"We are three travellers from England. We are seeking shelter before night falls." James answered.

After a minute of silence, the gate started to open revealing a big square which housed a few tents, a tavern, and some other stalls.

"Welcome to the Hague. I'm Hans." Said an older man as they entered. The man was wearing a set of armor which was made from monster materials.

"Thank you, I am James, and these are my companions Brodin and Ella." James said as he pointed to himself, Brodin and Ella. "I see your armor is made from monster materials. Do you guys hunt monsters over here?"

"Yes, we used to only hole up in this place until someone came that changed our way of life. He is our leader and goes out clearing dungeons everyday with his squad." Hans told James.

"Oh really? Can I meet this person?" James asked.

"You can but you would have to wait until nightfall as that person won't return from raiding dungeons until then. Until then I will show you where you can stay." The man said.

After that Hans took the trio and showed them around the settlement. He showed them the blacksmith in which Brodin showed a lot of interest. He also led them to where they kept the docile monsters which piqued Ella's interest. The last stop before he took them to their accommodation, he also showed them their training grounds. There were a lot of people there training all different kinds of martial arts. Some were using weapons and others were practicing hand to hand combat. Seeing this scene made James eager to train with the people here.

Finally, Hans took the trio to where the trio would be staying. It was a small room with three beds, and even though it was small it was more than they could have asked for.

"Whaa! I can't believe it. It's been so long since I've slept in a bed!" Ella exclaimed.

"Yeah, I'm also really excited and I could use a good rest after spending all those hours on the tortoise's back." Brodin said.

After the trio started to unpack their stuff, they decided to lie down for a bit.

As soon as their heads hit the pillows, they fell asleep as they were exhausted raiding dungeons everyday for the past few days.

After a few hours they woke up to a lot of noise coming from the centre square. After looking outside James saw it was already dark.

He soon got up and made his way outside where he bumped into Hans.

"Ah James I've been looking for you. Come with me." Hans said.

After following Hans outside James found himself amongst a group of 5 people.

"Hello, I heard you come from England. My name is Rocco. What is your name?" One of the five said.
