The Mess that is Tess

Charlie sat at the kitchen table long after John stormed out and she felt tears running down her face. Why did she lie to John? She knew why, but then why did she feel so heartbroken? She started to rub her belly unconsciously, and left her head fell down on the table. 


Tess came in a few minutes after, ready to go to work. She heard the door so she wanted to see if Charlie was ok, or if John was still there, as she wasn’t sure who went out the door, it could have been either of them. 


- Are you ok?, she asked, coming around to hug Charlie. 


- I don’t know, Tess, I don’t know any of it. I don’t know what I want but I do know I need space to figure everything out. And I do know I was no where ready for the talk with John. 


- Do you know if you have feelings for him?, asked Tess. 


- I do know, and I don’t like the answer to that. 


- Well, it’s not if you like the answer or not, but it is important to have all facts for a decision.
