It had been a day since the funeral was past and Soren had returned back to Scoln.
His carriage halted in front of Greenstone house and there Soren stepped out followed by Gerald and Helren.
It had been a week of the mourning and with everything back to normal, Soren did not have to worry for a funeral.
It was after he made his way inside the building that he inquired from one of the servants.
"Prepare and we depart for the capital at dawn." Soren ordered one of the servants.
"What for your royal higness?" The servant asked.
"I suppose you must understand that it is necessary I am in time for the burial of my child." Soren replied.
"I am afraid that that is nolonger possible your royal Highness." The servant said.
"And why is that, were there any adjustments during my absence?" Soren asked.
"Well, following your departure, the remnants of your child were laid to rest yesterday." The servant replied.
With Gerald and Helren listening, Soren felt completely shut down and at that very moment he felt himself losing the strength to stand.
"Your Highness." All the three said as they rushed to support him before he could fall.
"Please, I need some time alone." Soren said.
"Your Highness." Helren said.
"I said leave me alone." Soren yelled loud enough that the three withdrew from his presence and deserted the living room.
Soren paced around the centre before he sat down on a sofa barely able to conceal the pain that he had inside.
He started to cry alone and his mild sobs came up to the hallway outside where Helren and Gerald stood with a couple of guards.
They looked at each other and their eyes similarly reflected the sorrow and the pity that they had felt for Soren.
Everyone shifted their eyes on the streets as the familiar carriage rode past them.
They could make out the petite frame that had veiled its face and wore what was a black velvet dress.
The carriage moved on until it came to a halt at the gates of the Imperial residence.
The guards upon making out who it was opened and the carriage sped into the courtyard before it came to stop at the entrance of the palace.
The coachmen opened the carriage door and Soren walked straight into the palace.
He was followed by an aura of what looked to have been absolute sadness and he was swift on his feet like lightening.
Wherever he passed, the servants and guards bowed down their heads as he walked and approached a door which was guarded by two guards.
Soren came to a halt and looked at the guards and one of the guards had the courage to speak up to him.
"His highness is busy and he is not in the mood to talk to anyone at the moment." The guard said.
"Step aside and let me have my way." Soren coldly commanded as he shed a few tears with his face wearing a very serious expression.
"Your Highness...." the guard was suddenly interrupted.
"I am not asking." Soren spoke again before he ceased the handles of the doors with both his arms and threw them open.
He waltzed into the study and faced Conelm who was seated behind his table and looking at some papers.
Conelm having heard the doors flung open shifted his gaze up front and noticed the presence of Soren right there.
"What are you doing here, you have not been asked to return from the countryside." Conelm spoke seriously.
"And must I be denied the right to bury my very own child?" Soren asked.
"Do not talk about that at this moment." Conelm said as he returned his attention to the papers that he bore in his grip.
"And why shouldn't I, I am tired of you pretending like I do not exist anymore." Soren said.
"And what do you want me to do for you right now, we cannot talk and I am busy so I am telling you to leave." Conelm said.
"I am not leaving here without a word, for days I have stood and kept quiet but for now things have gone out of hand." Soren said.
"I am not requesting." Conelm said as he rose up from his seat.
"Nor am I." Soren said as he looked at him with tears running down his eyes.
Conelm walked around the table and came face to face with Soren before he held his left hand to drag him out.
Soren mastered his pwn strength and courage to pull free from Conelm's grip.
"Do I really disgust you that much?" Soren asked.
Conelm stopped and turned around and faced Soren.
"You do not listen and as your husband you must listen and obey every word that I tell you." Conelm said.
"I did not stop you from doing whatever you wanted but the child you lost was mine as well." Soren said.
"As a result of who's recklessness?" Conelm asked.
"That is all you do, continue to blame me for the loss, you forfeited everything that you ever told me before because of your own belief.
You say I do not listen, have you listened to me or heard me out?" Soren asked his voice getting loud.
Conelm simply kept quiet and looked Soren in the eye.
"I am not ready to fight with you now so it would be best that you left here and now." Conelm said.
"I said I won't, Did I really not deserve the right to rest my child in peace, did I not deserve to be present on his funeral.
You tell me yourself, who was it that I got married to?" Soren asked.
"If you cannot deal with your anger then I'd prefer you don't vent it out on me, we all know who is responsible for this.
I am your husband and I am your future king and I shall earn my respect right now." Conelm said.
"Then you are not the man that I married, I thought we were sure what it was we wanted, you told me you loved me, you promised to stay with me.
You made a vow to the gods and now here you are distancing yourself from me right now, treating me like a complete stranger." Soren said.
"I am not answerable to you so you should listen." Conelm said.
"Then maybe as my future king and my husband let me ask my right here and now, to lay my son in peace alone since it is unbearable for you to do it with me.
And as far as I know if you feel that marrying me was that great a burden then I suggest that after everything considering my own son's burial is done we bury this relationship along with it." Soren said.
"What did you just say?" Conelm said.
"I think there is no need sustaining this marriage any longer if you cannot tolerate me.
A temporary distance does not seem to serve efficient and you make it clear I think we need to end this marriage." Soren said.
"And what right have you to do that, my father gave up the Northern lands of your country for you and I will not dishonor that.
Stay silent, that is all that you must do from now and onwards and you are never to speak to me like your equal." Conelm said as he stood and stared down at Soren.
"Then perhaps as you have said, I will honor the agreement that is between our two kingdoms and after the burial of my child, I shall leave you to your peace and even let myself not to appear in your presence without your permission.
You won't have to worry because I will certainly go far away to where you want me to be after all thank you for reminding me that I am simply a sign of the agreement that we share." Soren said before he matched towards the door.
As he approached the door he stopped in his tracks.
"And I hope you find the peace you want with yourself, I hope that at least you will be happy with your decision right now.
I understand that I am nothing in this country compared to what you are and I know you blame me for the death of our child.
But I shall ask you as your consort and nothing more, I hope that know what you are doing very well and that you can hate me for everything.
But this I shall tell you, despite everything that has happened, do you really think that you love me like you said or are you still the husband to whom I got married." Soren said without turning around.
He then walked through the doors and left Conelm standing there and looking at him vanish as the words he had spoken tickled his heart enormously.
