Fuyu got her sunglasses and put it on. She is still feeling a little sulky even though they are on their way to Okinawa already. She closed her eyes while feeling the summer sea breeze. Instead of plane, Sho got his yacht. Gia placed the fruit plate between them and she got a sliced watermelon.
"I told you. You will enjoy this. We can drink later." Gia whispered to her and she just laughed softly.
"What will we drink?" She whispered back and the older gave her a knowing look. She took another piece of sliced watermelon and pointed at it.
"Same color." The two women chuckled softly but Fuyu immediately went to Gia's side since the two men were there already.
"You will not drink." Fuyu puffed her cheeks when Sho pulled her close and hugged her from behind. She doesn't really know why he is always not allowing her to drink.
"But I want to drink." She mumbled, taking a small piece of honeydew and feeding it to him. He rested his chin on her shoulder and tightened his hug.
It took them almost three hours to arrive at Okinawa. She held his hand tight while getting off the yacht. They still need to ride the van to arrive at the private resthouse. Their luggage is already inside, so they already drove off to the location.
It is already afternoon when they finally arrived at the resthouse. They are already starving but caretakers prepared food for them. She smiled widely while staring at the breaded shrimps. It is one of her favorites. They went to the cottage near the sea side and ate there. The two women immediately went back inside the resthouse to change to swimsuits.
"I'll join you later." He said while smiling and he gently pecked her lips. She chuckled softly and nodded. It's been a while since she went to the seaside, so she is excited. Little did they know, that would be the last time they would be able to see Fuyu.
Three months have passed and it is already mid-autumn. Until now, they are still looking for her. Sho stared at Fuyu's ring. The police found the ring besides the victim's ripped clothes. They assumed that the culprit violated her first before stabbing her to death and throwing her body off the cliff. They never found her body. They also thought that the water swept her body to the deepest part of the sea.
Her family can't accept that their daughter is already dead. He can't accept it as well. He still believes that she is alive somewhere. As long as the body is not yet found, he is still hoping that she is still breathing fine. They caught the culprit and he confessed what he did. He almost killed him but deep inside, he is the one who got killed.
Three months became three years. He opened the door of her apartment and turned the lights on. He bought her apartment unit from the owner. He made sure that he is the only one who can go there aside from her family and friends. Since then, he never hired another female assistant. He got a male one instead.
"Fuyu." He muttered while staring at the couch. It feels like it just happened yesterday— that time when she asked him to accompany her to the mall because she is not yet done buying gifts for everyone.
He sat down and opened the small wooden box he kept for years. It contained photos of her during university years. He never confessed to anyone that she became his muse while he was still studying. He took photos of her secretly, knowing that he fell in love with her the moment he saw her. He worked hard to be a successful man. He worked hard for her.
He feels like a dead person. Ever since that incident happened, he is already a living dead. He felt nothing but emptiness. He is almost thirty and his parents are telling him to get married already. He got mad at them since they know that the only woman he wants to marry is Fuyu.
"She is already dead! You need to move on, Shogo." Those words kept on repeating in his mind. He can't believe his parents can say those to him.
"You're not yet dead, desho? You will still come back to me." He whispered while staring at her photo. His tears stained the photo. Until now, he is crying for her. He missed her so much already.
Meanwhile, on the other side, a woman in mid-twenties smiled widely while watching her three-year-old son playing with the other children at the playground near the school. The little one ran towards her and climbed on her lap before hugging her tight. She chuckled softly and hugged him back, getting up from the seat already.
"You're already heavy, Shu-chan." She said in a soft voice while carrying him. She got his backpack since it is already time for them to go home.
"Uncle will go home early tonight, Mommy?" Shu asked and she nodded. The gold ring on her finger glimmered.
She has been wearing the gold ring for two years already. It is definitely to shoo her suitors away. She is pretending that she is already married but in fact, she is a single mother. She lost her memories when a man found her at the seaside. Until now, she can't remember who she is but the man who saved her gave her a new name.
"Mommy, my classmates are mean. They said I don't belong in the class because I'm a Japanese." Shu puffed his cheeks. She saw the sadness from his eyes and she smiled faintly.
"Don't listen to them but at the same time, be nice to them. As long as you will not do bad things against them, Mommy is happy." She kissed his temples.
"Mommy, I want to meet Daddy already." Shu whispered. She went quiet after that. How can she even introduce him to his father when she can't even remember who she is?
"I'm sorry, baby. You can't meet Daddy yet. He is— he is still busy but I'm sure he misses you already." She doesn't know for how long she will lie to her child. She doesn't really want to give him high hopes about having a father but Shu is growing up already. He needs guidance from his father.
"Mommy, can we go to Tokyo this Christmas? I want to go to Disneyland. My classmate showed her photo with her parents when they went to Disneyland. I want to have photos with Mommy at Disneyland!" Shu's hug tightened around her and she smiled widely while nodding. It will be Christmas soon. Perhaps, they can have their winter vacation in Tokyo.
