Mitsu's Study. Kaneko Mansion, Konoha

[General]

.

Four people were currently sitting in the study inside Kaneko Mansion.

Their faces contained different emotions.

"Are you sure, you want to be the one to tell him?" Tsunade asked.

"But of course, I am the one he trusts the most, after all." Mitsu replied from his seat while sipping on his tea.

Tsunade, Jiraya and Hiruzen winced at that remark.

"Sigh! I only kept him from it… To keep him safe…" Hiruzen lamented.

"It's not entirely your fault, sensei. If that bastard, Danzo hadn't leaked the news, then your plan would have worked." Jiraya tried to comfort the old man.

But Tsunade sneered.

"But you should have protected the boy! If it wasn't for Mitsu-kun's influence and his subtle manipulation, Naruto would have lived a worse life!"

Hiruzen lowered his head in shame.

He had his own reasons, and his own restrictions for what happened to his charge.

But those will only sound like excuses now.

"No point in arguing about all that, to be honest. Just ask for his forgiveness after I tell him everything." Mitsu said nonchalantly.

The others solemnly nodded.

It was a few minutes later that a knock on the door was heard.

"Mitsu-sama, Uzumaki Naruto-kun has arrived." Sounded Yukina's melodies voice.

"Thank you, and send him in please."

"Very well, Mitsu-sama." Sounded her voice again as the door to the study opened, revealing the young Genin who had a big grin on his face and Yukina.

Naruto grinned when he saw the occupants of the room.

"Hey Bossu! Hah! Gramps, baa-chan and even ero-sennin is here!" He exclaimed.

"Heh! Come in Naruto, hope you are feeling fine now?" Mitsu inquired with a smile, which Naruto returned.

"Like that Tsundere Uchiha could ever hurt me!" Naruto boasted.

Mitsu and the others chuckled, before Mitsu turned serious.

Seeing Mitsu's serious face, Naruto knew that whatever he was called for was important. So, he stopped his stupid act and stood at attention.

"What can I do for you, Bossu? Seems like whatever you called me here for is important." He said while looking at the somewhat guilty faces of the people present.

But it wasn't Mitsu who started, but Hiruzen.

"Naruto my boy… Remember when you were young, I told you that one day when you are older and stronger, I would tell you about your parents?"

Naruto nodded casually. But inside he was frowning.

"Well, I… No… We believe now is a good time to let you know." He said hesitantly.

Naruto shook his head as he stated with a bored tone, "If you are here to tell me that my father is the fourth Hokage and my mother is Uzumaki Kushina, then I already know."

Hearing that, the 3 adults had shocked expressions on their faces, while Mitsu had a bigger grin.

'Looks like giving you common sense wasn't a waste, Naruto.' Mitsu thought inwardly.

'How? Who could have told him?' Thought the others.

Naruto could guess what they were thinking, so he added,

"Don't worry, no one told me."

"T-then how?" Jiraya asked.

"How I found out?" Naruto looked a little hurt, because he thought they were doubting his intellect.

"For one, I always had doubts about Lord Fourth. Since the first time I saw his picture at Gramps' office, and seeing him having so many familiar features as mine, I always had wished that he was secretly my father. But as I was a child and had the name Uzumaki, I always denied the possibilities myself.

But as I grew older, I started to notice many things about myself."

Naruto spread his hand dramatically as he looked at Hiruzen.

"First of which was you Gramps."

"Me?" Hiruzen asked a bit sadly.

"Yeah. I mean, how many orphans do you coddle as much as me?" He grinned saying that.

Truly, how many orphans did the Hokage himself go and talk to and even take them out to eat?

"At first, I thought you were just kind and took pity on an orphan. But as I observed more, and saw how much I could get away with, I started to consider myself special. And how right I was…" He said the last part mockingly.

Then he started with sad eyes,

"The villagers calling me monster, demon, fox… and what not… I knew I was special…"

This made everyone except Mitsu wince. Mitsu though had a frown on his face.

"I just didn't know why I was special…

Was I really a demon?

Was I really the Kyubi?

I was so lost… So very lost… Till…

Bossu took me in and gave me a job!" Naruto smiled gently as he looked at Mitsu, who returned the smile.

"And with time, because of Bossu's help… The opinion of the villagers slowly changed. Now look at me." He chuckled.

"Now the villagers even cheer for me!"

Shaking his head, he looked at the attentive audience.

"And soon I graduated from the academy, becoming an adult, which finally gave me the opportunity needed to find more clues about myself!" Naruto grinned.

"Honestly, even a few months ago, I wasn't sure about my heritage. But before the Chunin exam finals, when ero-sennin started training me, I confirmed everything."

"But… How? I never told you anything…" Jiraya asked sadly.

Naruto sighed as he continued, "At first, when I became a Genin and earned the right to get access to the database, I found some anomalies…"

"But… Minato's and Kushina's information aren't in that database… They are classified." Tsunade said slowly.

"Indeed, they are. But you know what isn't classified? Old people who like to talk about the past." Here, Naruto grinned massively.

Mitsu started laughing as he now understood how Naruto must have found out. But he decided to listen to the boy, as did the others.

"So, I started with the assumption that I was the son of Namikaze Minato, the fourth Hokage. But then… who was my mother? I made another bold assumption, that it was an Uzumaki. But when I searched for information on Uzumaki's, only one person came out…

Uzumaki Mito, the first Hokage's wife… So I was confused…

With that, I knew that my name wasn't made up. But there was an actual Uzumaki family, it might even be a clan name.

I started asking people, and guess what?

There indeed was another Uzumaki…

And she was very close to one certain Hokage… Apparently, she had quite the temper and had left a considerable impression on a lot of people.

Something more was her ve-verbal tic…" Naruto's voice cracked there… As his eyes started to glisten.

"Her name was Uzumaki Kushina… She was very close to the fourth… Probably was even his wife… She… also di-died the day I was born…

She was… My mo-mo-mother." Naruto's voice broke as tears started dripping from his eyes.

Tsunade couldn't hold it and walked up to him and gave him a hug. Looking as sad as the boy.

Jiraya lowered his head in shame, while Hiruzen looked complicated.

Naruto continued, "But I couldn't confirm it with anyone… So, I kept it in… I waited for the day, that Gramps would tell me… Or maybe one of you…

The day, I signed the toad contract and saw dad's name on the scroll before mine… The moment ero-sennin started teaching me the I knew for sure…"

He sobbed.

"I am so sorry Naruto… I am truly sorry… But I just couldn't tell you… no one could…" Tsunade said sadly as she hugged Naruto.

"It's alright baa-chan… I knew that there were reasons… And after I started learning about the war and my parents' feats, I understood your concerns…

I understood that if people knew about me… I might have been targeted… So it's okay… it hurts not knowing… But it's okay…"

Hearing that the others' felt even more guilty.

Mitsu didn't say anything as he waited for Naruto to calm down.

It took a few minutes, before Naruto was completely calm.

He asked, "Is that why you called me here? To tell me about my parents?" He asked.

This time Mitsu spoke, "No. Not exactly. Yes, we were going to tell you about your parents. But also, the circumstances, and your other identity."

Naruto tensed and looked at him questioningly.

Mitsu calmly looked at Naruto and started, "How much do you know about tailed beasts?"

Mitsu started to explain everything to Naruto.

About what tailed beasts were, how people viewed them, and their power.

How villages try to control them and use them as weapons.

How the first Hokage captured and sold the beasts to different villages in name of peace.

"Really? There are such overwhelmingly powerful creatures? And they can't really die? Then how do the villages control them?" Naruto asked amazed.

"I was getting to that." Mitsu chuckled.

Then Mitsu explained about containers.

Seals and Jinchurikis.

The function of Jinchurikis, their abilities, and their purpose.

The whole time, the elders were apprehensive as they assessed Naruto's expressions.

Once Mitsu was done explaining, Naruto nodded with a sad glint.

"I am the Kyubi's Jinchuriki, aren't I? As was my mother… As was Uzumaki Mito… Gaara is also one, isn't he? I felt something familiar about him the first time I met him."

"You are right on all accounts, Naruto. But don't think otherwise… You are a hero to Konoha. Your father wanted everyone to see you as the hero you are. But his thinking was naïve… As you yourself can deduce." Mitsu was brutal with his honesty.

"But with what the old man had prepared, you would have still lived a good and carefree childhood, but because of Danzo, things had to change… Yes, it was the old man's fault for not doing anything about it.

But honestly, at that time, the old man barely had any power over the civilians. Yes he was Hokage, but it was the advisors who kept him in that position when he was young, so they grabbed most of the power concerning civilians.

Though it was still his negligence that cost you so much grief."

Mitsu said it in a clear-cut manner.

Hiruzen only sighed and said nothing. He had no excuses.

"Mitsu-kun… I think that's a bit harsh on sensei…" Jiraya tried to defend his teacher but received a glare from both Mitsu and Tsunade.

But to their surprise, it was Naruto who spoke, "I know Gramps made mistakes, Bossu… But I forgive him… When everyone turned their backs, he was still there for me when I needed him… So it's okay."

"Naruto…"

Mitsu watched, with clear amusement, how Naruto was gaining everyone's heart…

'Seriously, that passive is broken A.F.'

"Well, anyway, do you have any questions?" Mitsu asked.

"Yeah… So umm… Am I a… a weapon for the village?" Naruto asked, a bit apprehensive.

"Yes and no." Mitsu answered, much to the dismay of the others.

"You are a Jinchuriki, so yes, you are a military asset to the village. But no, Konoha didn't raise you as a weapon, and under my watch, and Neechan's rule, no one will dare to treat you as such. So, you have no worries there."

"So what is going to happen to me now?" Naruto asked, biting his lower lips.

Mitsu was surprised to see Naruto taking his status so calmly. He actually thought the boy would have had an existential crisis.

Then Mitsu again started to explain what was happening around the world, and about, Akatsuki…

"So I need to leave?" Naruto asked in alarm.

"No, not literally leave. Think of this as a long-term training mission, yeah? You will be learning under ero-sennin, about his pick-up techniques and peeping skills, while learning Ninja stuff and controlling your Biiju on the side.

You will also have some ANBU protecting you from the shadows." Mitsu answered with a grin.

"So I am not getting promoted?" Naruto asked with wide eyes.

"No Naruto. You will be taking a discipleship outside of Konoha, so no. But you can retake the Chunin exams when you are back. No worries."

"Dammit!" Naruto cried out in frustration.

"Well? Anything else?" Mitsu asked with a smile.

"How long do you think I need to travel?" Naruto asked seriously.

"However long it takes for you to beat the ero-sennin." Mitsu said with a grin.

"Alright! Then I will be back before you know it! Believe it!" Naruto grinned.

"OI!" Jiraya shouted in indignation.

While Hiruzen and Tsunade chuckled.

They still felt guilty, but after Naruto had forgiven them, they were doing much better.

They then talked a bit more about Naruto's journey and about his training and the routes they were going to take.

At the end, when everyone was taking their leave, Naruto came to Mitsu and bowed, "Thank you…"

"What for?" Mitsu asked with a raised brow.

"For everything…" Naruto had a firm gaze, conveying his sincerity.

"Dude, stop raising a flag… It's not like you will be away for too long. Sheesh. And don't worry, Akatsuki won't be much of an issue." Mitsu replied with a smile.

Naruto couldn't help but feel safe and smiled back as he said his goodbye and ran out, leaving Mitsu alone in the room.

"Akatsuki, huh?... Why do I feel like something like Dragon Ball is going to happen here?... Whatever… I will deal with it when the time comes…

For now…

I need to prepare for the Grand Council!"
