"Weiss, what are you looking at?" Team RWBY was in their dorm rooms relaxing since there were no classes today. Yang walked over to Weiss's bed seeing her staring intensely at her scroll's holographic screen. Yang saw a black screen with white numbers counting down.
"I don't know. It just suddenly appeared in my scrolls notifications. It's weird cause I can't make the signal go away." Hearing Weiss, Yang reached for her own scroll, turning it on. And like she said she was also getting a weird notification. When she clicked on it the same video appeared.
"Woah this is freaky… Ruby, Blake you guys check this out!" Blake was lying on her bed right under Ruby's thanks to their rudimentary bunk bed layout. Putting down the book she was reading she pulled out her scroll as well, interested in what they were talking about. Ruby who was doing homework over at a desk had her eyes light up.
She would literally use anything as an excuse to procrastinate especially since Weiss wasn't going to hawk her about it. All over the world, people who checked out the broadcast watched as the countdown ticked down. Until finally it hit zero.
The numbers disappeared and the black screen faded into a view, a clear Live mark was located near the bottom right. A large rocky plane was displayed from the top-down view. In the far distance, a few mile's away was a large city.
Its walls towered up to a hundred or so feet. The city itself was built up against a large mountain face making the wall only half a circle. As for the city itself, it was almost as big as an atlas stretching dozens of miles across and most likely housing tens of thousands of people. For a city in this Grimm-infested world, it was quite large.
But what really caught people's eyes wasn't the city, but what was coming into view. Hundreds, literally hundreds of gunships were flying in the sky. They were black and had a sleek design not matching any other Kingdom's ships. And even more so there had to be even more transport ship's thousands of them.
They dotted the air like a swarm of insects. Causing countless tons of dust to be kicked up, transport ships landed on the ground one by one. As their bay doors opened soldiers dressed in strange uniforms came pouring out. However, that wasn't all, alongside them were all kinds of vehicles.
Eight wheeled vehicles that were heavily armored, cars that had mounted guns attached to their roofs, even tanks. They poured out of the transport ships like a wave.
Looking down at his scroll watching the broadcast, a guard's face suddenly turned pale. Looking up from the screen he looked into the distance from his post. As he did so the scroll in his hands fell to the groundbreaking.
'Oh god…'
The countless guard's on the wall with him had the same expressions. Why the hell weren't they alerted by the other cities and national guard about this? How did an army that big get so close to the city before they noticed?
These questions raced through their minds as an alarm suddenly blared throughout the city. Citizens who had been in their homes or watching the broadcast on their screens felt their minds go numb. Looking up at the speakers where the alarm was coming from they heard an announcement.
[All Citizens of Petra City need to immediately evacuate! Please get to the closest shelter immediately! If such actions are not possible, remain indoors! Please do not panic! This is not a drill!]
The announcement was on repeat as people began to realize what was happening. This was their city? This army was outside of their city! It came as a massive shock as people finally began reacting. Despite what the announcement said it was human nature to panic. People yelling and shouting began filling the streets as they began running.
Car's on the road immediately began speeding causing all kinds of accidents to occur. Within half an hour small fire's had already begun occurring. At the same time, the army outside of Petra City had already gotten into formation. The final transport ship looked different than the others as it landed.
When its doors opened a single woman stepped out, however, she was clearly dressed differently than the other soldiers. Her nine tail's danced behind her as a naturally charming smile appeared on her face. Seeing smoke already coming from the city ahead of them she chuckled before speaking.
Her voice could clearly be heard through people's scrolls across the world.
"People of Petra City, my name is Sienna Taella. Under orders from my Master, your city along with others has been selected to be destroyed." Her word's caused people watching to go silent.
Back in Team RWBY's dorm all of them were watching with looks of disbelief. However, only one person had that look for a totally different reason. That person was Blake. She recognized Taella of course and she also recognized the uniform those soldiers were wearing. This was the work of Shen.
Focusing back on Taella she continued.
"Your death along with others has been determined as necessary under my Master's command. You do not have the right or choice to surrender and escape is impossible. Although, if you want to die without resistance or die fighting is up to you. Personally, I would prefer the latter." Taella's words sounded devilish as she voiced them.
"Now then let us begin." Clapping her hands together the army behind her began to move. The gunships began to fly forward as the soldier's on the ground marched alongside the vehicles.
Inside Petra City, there was utter chaos. The Military in charge of protecting the city was in a panicked rush to prepare. But at the same time, the soldiers who were rushing couldn't help but feel afraid. They were rushing to get to their airships and vehicle's but how could they hold off a force that large?
In their main HQ, the General who was in charge was yelling.
"Contact the Capital, we need assistance immediately!"
"We've been trying but we can't get through!"
"Then what about the national guard have they contacted us?"
"No sir…"
The General's eyes lost a bit of their glimmer. What the hell was happening? It felt like their entire Kingdom had suddenly cut them off and thrown them to the lions? Where was there support and reinforcements? How did any of this happen without anyone noticing?
"Dammit, get our men to that gate and man the walls! We need to hold them off as long as possible. Send down the order to get every available airship into the air immediately!"
"Yes Sir!"
In other kingdom's people were watching with confusion.
"There is no way this is real right? This has to be some kind of prank." A guy nervously laughed as he spoke to his friend sitting across from him at a cafe. However his friend was silent, they were currently scrolling through the news.
"I think this is real… News articles are already talking about Mistral's border's being shut down. Plus a crazy amount of videos are starting to pop up online."
"Eh?" Hearing his friend, he looked back at the video playing out. He couldn't help but gulp.
Back on the wall, the guards posted there were in an absolute frenzy.
"Battle Positions everyone! Don't let them reach the wall!" It had happened too quickly they weren't ready. However, luckily their enemy had told them beforehand. Not only that but they were in a fairly good position. Their enemy could only attack from their front, and the city itself was geology protected.
Even if they started bombarding the walls it would take a lot of time to get through. They just needed to keep them at bay until reinforcements arrived. One of the guards calmed down a bit after thinking about it logically. They would be fine…
Although the thing about logic is that it's based on established concepts. It works great when every factor is known and can be calculated. But when a giant, unknown and unpredictable factor is thrown into the works. The whole idea of logic comes crumbling down.
"Hey what is that woman doing?" Ruby was referring to Taella who had begun to move. Taking a few steps forward Taella's eyes narrowed as she suddenly jumped. In an instant, she was high in the air as an ice platform began to form below her feet. The next second the ice platform expanded, rocketing her forward higher into the air.
She repeated this dozen of times in a span of a minute until she passed the thousand-foot mark. Being that high up she had a clear view of the city, or to be more precise the city gate. Creating a platform under her feet the ice just stayed there levitating in the air. At the same time, Taella grinned as she held her hands out to her side.
A frosted chill permeated off of her body and over fifteen massive spike's made of ice appeared around her. Each one was easily twenty meters long and five meters wide. Waving her hand forward, one of the spike's rocketed forward. They outspeed even the airships in the sky and met the gate of Petra City's wall in a matter of moments.
The guard's on the wall felt the entire thing shake as the ice spike crashed into the wall right next to the gate. They couldn't believe it. It went halfway through with no issue!
Taella didn't stop her as she continued to send the spike's of ice flying through the air. They continued to crash into different sections of the wall surrounding the gate of the city. Cracks began to spread as if the stone was just glass and parts of the wall were even starting to collapse.
"Crap, run! Get away from the gate!" The people on the wall quickly began to move as nearly all of the ice spike's crashed into the wall. At this point, the foundation around the gate was on the verge of collapse. Seeing that Taella smiled and with a flick of her hand the last spike of ice doubled in size before shooting forward like a drill.
It cut through the air making a horrifying sound as it did so. It was aiming directly for the gate itself. Unlike the wall, it was made purely out of metal. On impact, the ice shattered as it created a massive dent in the gate. The metal creaked as a loud metallic ring echoed through the city. The vibration shook the wall even heavier than all the times before.
And finally, it gave out. The cracks on the wall spread like crazy as the entire thing began to collapse under its own weight. Like dominos, once it started it didn't stop as clouds of dust were launched into the air.
By the end the entire midsection of the wall had collapsed as the metal gate a hundred feet tall slowly fell forward hitting the ground.
"Easy enough. Alright, you all know what to do! Kill them, kill every last one! Don't let a single human escape!" Under her order's the soldiers in the army let out a cry. The speed of the airships and the vehicles increased and so did the soldiers' movement speed.
By the time the military of Petra City was just barely prepared, they had arrived. The first battle that began, was the one in the sky. The countless gunships fired at Petra City's Military airships. They were outnumbered massively as explosions began occurring in the air.
Ship's began falling out of the sky onto the city below crashing into buildings and causing countless casualties. The tanks and armed vehicles began opening fire the moment they were in range blowing away any rubble in the way and firing into the city.
Within the hour the battle on the ground had begun. One person watching all of this couldn't help but smile. This person was Shen as he was sitting inside of a transportation airship. He was watching the broadcast himself on his scroll, and sitting next to him was Raven and Pyrrha.
They couldn't believe what they were seeing. An entire city filled with people was being destroyed. And it was all under the orders of the person sitting next to them.
'Things are going well on Taella's end. The others should be reaching their destinations soon as well.' Leaning back in his seat Shen could already feel it. His XP was already beginning to increase at an insane rate.
In the end, he had to guarantee safety for a lot of cities being controlled by Noble Families. As much as he wanted to, he couldn't kill everyone, not yet. But that was fine, the cities that were left were more than enough.
In the end, this was only the beginning, the real gains would start when the other Kingdom took action.
'Oh, I simply can't wait.'
