Chapter 3

After filling out missing persons reports, the police said that there wasn't anything else she could do tonight and they recommended she go home and get some sleep. Once she got home, she shut off the kitchen light and turned to go upstairs to bed, unaware that two sets of eyes were watching her every move. She got to her bedroom and laid out her pajamas on the bed. She fell to the floor when she heard the first explosion. She didn't know if she should try to escape or try to hide because the explosion sounded man-made and came from downstairs. A couple of seconds after she fell to the ground, something hit the back of her head and she fell unconscious. Megan slowly regained consciousness and felt a throbbing on the back of her head. She put her hand to it, flinching from the pain, and felt something wet. When she then looked at her hand it had some dark liquid on it. Though where she was was dark, she gathered the fact that it was blood. She soon realized that she had woken up in the trunk of a car. She felt around the dark trunk for either something she could use as a weapon or something that could help her escape. She felt a piece of metal directly behind and as she ran her hands over it, she knew it must be a crowbar. She grabbed the crowbar and tried to push it through where she thought the taillights would be, making a hole to the outside just big enough for her hand to fit through. Frantically, she waved her hand around hoping someone would see it. She knew that the captors wouldn't see it because she could feel the car moving and she kept her hand directly behind the car in the blindspots. She felt the car decelerate and quickly pulled her hand back in. A couple of seconds later the car came to a complete stop and the trunk opened, sending in a flood of light temporarily blinding her. Once her eyes adjusted, she saw a man towering above her. He looked at her then the taillight and shook his head, "tsk tsk." He forcefully took the crowbar out of her hands and hit her across the head with it, rendering her unconscious once more.
