Getting Liu'er on the roof

"Young miss?" Liu'er asked again when no response came, this time a little louder.

Bai Yue snapped out of her stupor, barely believing she had been so caught up in an argument with the Crown Prince that she forgot about Liu'er. She scrambled to get on her hands and knees and carefully made her way to the edge of the rooftop. Risking a glance, her face wore an apologetic expression when she caught sight of Liu'er's nervous form. Although it was too dark to see the girl's features, Bai Yue had no problem seeing her shift her weight from one foot to the other, all but bouncing up and down.

"I'm sorry," Bai Yue said in the lowest voice possible. "Do you want to go up here or stay on the ground?"

"Hn?" Liu'er stood on tip-toe and squinted to look at her through the darkness of the night. It didn't work well and she stepped on the first rung of the ladder. Which didn't change anything. It was still too dark. "Up, of course."
