Flashback - The woman in the imperial gardens (2)

Ji Mo Yuan stepped out of the room, each steps heavier than the previous one. He rolled his stiff shoulders, joints and muscles popping and creaking.

He stopped the servant who was reaching for the door. "Let in some fresh air, it's too stuffy inside."

The servant hesitated, no doubt believing Ji Mo Yuan hoped to get rid of the Emperor faster. However, when facing Ji Mo Yuan's stern face, he could only lower his head and relent, "Yes, Your Highness."

Ji Mo Yuan lifted his chin high and sneered at him. "You may close it after the Empress and the sixth prince have both left."

A torment worse than death awaited his mother and brother if only the two of them were present behind closed doors when the Emperor gave his last breath.

Ji Mo Yuan walked away, his coat billowing behind him. His servant Tang Lu had been waiting for him in the hallway. Seeing his master, he hurried after him. "Your Highness, how is the Emperor?"
