The look on the young men's faces were of fear. This didn't escape the keen eyes of the officers and some of the onlookers.
Prof. Zhou however did miss it as he snorted daring to take Qin Qianyu's challenge.
However, an officer stepped forward and stopped him,
"That's evidence now, please leave it alone and step back!"
Prof. Zhou had no choice now. Even if he paid or begged that he really wanted to drink it, he couldn't.
The officers sealed the drink and stowed it away. They done a search and found two vials on Zhou Shan's son.
One was still full, the other half empty.
The police took all those involved away and Prof. Zhou Shen followed them angrily.
He looked back at Qin Qianyu and the teacher from Renshi. He had already decided that they were to blame for his son's dilemma.
The onlookers left to go about the rest of the day and Qin Qianyu followed Dr Cao, Cao Guangyi and teacher Mu back to Yan Zi Chunji's stall.
On the way back, teacher Mu kept nagging Qin Qianyu and bombarded her with so many questions and queries related to TCM.
"Teacher Mu, I only know a tiny bit, really."
It still didn't convince him, nor did it stop him from asking question after question.
"Miss, now that we finally have time to speak properly, thank you for helping Guangyi, it was a really scary feeling when he wondered off by himself. Thank you for bringing him back."
Dr Cao gave Qin Qianyu a respectable bow, Baobao followed suit and bowed as well.
"Thanks Big sister Yu."
Qin Qianyu accepted their thanks and chatted with them a while more before going about the rest of her day.
"Baobao! Do you remember how you were felling when I came across you?"
"Yes . . It was yucky! It felt scary and horrible."
"Mhm, that's how your parents would have felt too because they couldn't find you. You must behave and never wonder off ever again. You might run into people like those boys and they might hurt you."
"I'm sorry, . . I'll be good, I promise."
Qin Qianyu nodded, then she apologised to Dr Cao for teaching his child. He waved her off saying that her saying so and with what had just transpired would have an even greater effect on his son.
Qin Qianyu went about the rest of her day, her thoughts dwelled on Cheng Yifei most of the time.
She couldn't help it, whisperings were going on wherever she went. They were all talking about the same thing.
Although no names were ever mentioned in people's conversations, everyone knew that it involved Zhishi and Renshi university.
Soon after, all of Renshi who were at SIC in attendance learnt of what had happened to Cheng Yifei.
She wasn't here for the competition itself, Cheng Yifei had come with several others from the university's contemporary dance and music department to provide entertainment on behalf of Renshi.
Then people started talking about how Zhishi, although considered the best university in the country has had a vicious history with lording over others they deemed below them.
This wasn't an isolated issue. Many people have fallen prey and victim to malicious people from Zhishi.
Many criticised the University for condoning the actions of its students by either giving little to no punishments to the offenders.
They all suspected the same would happen here regardless.
The University sent out a statement claiming that they would fully investigate the incident after SIC.
The entire statement was a stock standard response.
Qin Qianyu called it a day and decided to head home. She wanted to clear her mind and focus on the next day's tests.
It would be on biochemistry and although her proficiency and knowledge from her former life gave Qin Qianyu an edge over the others, she would still need to concentrate in order to lead and gain the top stop.
"Father isn't there something you can do!? I can't go to prison! I won't go to prison!"
Professor Zhou sat in a small room with his son in a detention facility.
The police were starting their preliminary investigations into the poisoning incident.
They were starting with the junior who was making and serving drinks at a booth during the event and incident.
She gave her testimony which was backed by small pieces of evidence such as video and pictures others in the booth had taken and posted online to their personal social media accounts.
One picture even caught the moment that Senior Zhou tipped the liquid poison into the drink.
It was a guaranteed nail into the coffin.
He was scolding his son, because he and his friends had put him in such an embarrassing situation.
"I told you to keep your damn nose clean! Now look at this mess! This isn't the capital! This is Fenghuang. What do you expect me to do for you here!? Tell me, do I look like the god damn emperor to you!?"
The father and son pair had been told the results of the police's preliminary findings.
They were also told the the damage done to the female students organs they poisoned will also affect their chances of seeing freedom anytime soon.
It didn't look good for Senior Zhou and his friends.
"What about Vice Principle Zhao, can't you ask him to help us? Im sure he has connections here doesn't he!?"
"I'll give him a call,"
After a few moments the call ended. There was a strong and clear belief in Professor Zhou's eyes.
"It's done?"
"Mhm, the price was steep, but, it isn't me that will be paying it."
"What do you mean?"
"It's you that will be paying it back. He'll let you know what is required of you. You just have to follow his command and do what he says. That is the price for getting you out of this do you understand."
Qin Qianyu got up the same as usual and done her morning routine.
She was excited and determination shone through her eyes.
Just before she left the hotel for the venue, her phone buzzed nonstop as scores of messages of support flooded her phone from her family and friends.
She smiled brightly and headed towards the venue.
Qin Qianyu got there and was shown the way to where the testing for her category was being held.
Her belongings had to be held at a checkpoint near the door. This was to curb cheaters and cheating.
Watches, phones and any other electronic devices had to stay. The testing site would provide all of the necessities needed.
She was given a calculator, rule, and three pens to conduct the test,
Once inside the large room filled with other eager participants they all turned to look at her as she done the same in turn. Then she saw the head Invigilator in her testing room.
"Professor Zhou, he . . he wouldn't do anything dodgy would he? Well, there are others here so surely he'll just do his job, right?"
Qin Qianyu thought to herself. She looked him over. He looked extremely tired and drained.
He looked both mentally and physically exhausted.
Qin Qianyu quietly found her place and sat down for the 4 hour monster test.
Although it was slated as a 4 hour test, unlike college and University exams, if you finished early then that would be the best for you as this is a competition first and foremost than an actual entrance exam.
The papers were handed out, and Professor Zhou announced that everyone could begin.
As soon as it started, a few soft sighs sounded out.
No one spoke. All that could be heard were small whisperings from the panel as they oversaw the testing.
The shuffling of paper, the scratching of pens and the tapping of the keys on the calculator echoed loudly in the large hall.
At the 37th minute mark, Qin Qianyu tidied away her working space, got up and handed in her papers to the adjudication panel or what participants had dub them, Judgement.
Scores of exclamations left the mouths of the other participants in the room. Some couldn't believe that she had completed the entire test and figured that she must had given up or at most, answered all she could.
However, seeing her hand in all her papers early also left a mental scar on many of them and they all started to feel the pressures of the first day.
Professor Zhou hadn't been paying attention to what was going on inside the room.
His mind was preoccupied with the dilemma his son was facing. When he had seen Qin Qianyu going up early as he made rounds around the room he was of the same mind as all the others.
"Another no hoper! There's a reason we allow for 4 hours during this test. It's to weed out the useless, and feeble minded wannabes. Zhishi doesn't need such useless things."
He scoffed. He believed that Qin Qianyu had given up after seeing how hard it actually was.
He and the other Invigilators and the panel had only received the test that morning. This part of the process had never changed. It was to curb the want or need to cheat by bribing.
And even though they had gotten it that morning, they reviewed it all and found it difficult themselves.
"Dr Wen pulled another stunner of a test!"
"You bet, gosh the way that man's mind works, it's incredible."
Luckily the answer sheet was there also.
After handing in her work, Qin Qianyu retrieved her belongings at the door and left the exam site.
She was happy, the test itself was easy for her. What she done was her forte so it was as easy for her as walking and breathing is.
One of the panelists decided to check her work out and soon he started getting excited and it started to show.
Soon the others started clambering around the marker and this caused the other participants to see the commotion.
Professor Zhou saw this and made his way over to the panel.
"What's wrong, why are you all fussing?"
"This participant, she's gotten everything right so far, everyone is double and triple checking her answers, but, so far it looks like she's answered them all correctly."
"What! That no hoper that left early!?"
"No hoper!? Professor! Just because someone finished early doesn't mean they're useless! Don't forget this is a competition. Finishing first will always put you in the lead."
"Check it out properly! Do it now, follow the procedures properly and make sure it's done right."
Professor Zhou couldn't believe that there was someone of Dr Wen's caliber amongst the people here.
He refused to believe it.
Some of Qin Qianyu's solutions and methods employed middle school syllabus into certain problems and the results gave the same answer but utilised a different approach.
"Who the hell is she?"
Professor Zhou muttered. One of the other panelists entered her identification number and it brought up her profile.
They all checked her ID and found out that she was also the top scorer for the online portions.
"15! She's really only 15! I thought she was a model at first. But who knew! Beauty and brains! This is too incredible."
One of the adjudicators exclaimed. Professor Zhou took a look at the computer monitor and clenched his fists tightly.
"What! It's her!"
When he saw Qin Qianyu's profile he almost punched the screen after recognising her face.
His eyes flashed with a dangerous light then his lips curled into a scheming smirk,
Qin Qianyu had no idea the storm she had let loose or was about to encounter. She wouldn't have guessed that the next day would not only shock, but piss her off to no ends.
After doing her morning rituals and routine, she headed to the venue for the next part of the competition.
However, as she was coming through the gates, she spotted Zhou Shen's son walking around unmolested.
Qin Qianyu made a beeline to Yan Zi Chunji and found teacher Mu.
"I just heard the news myself. It seems that the evidence has been misplaced and lost, also we've been told that the testimony of the girl that made the drink was too unreliable."
"They said it was nothing more than a vengeful vendetta involving the two girls for being more prettier than her! Can you believe it?"
Qin Qianyu shook her head in disbelief as she muttered,
"The authorities were bought off!? . . Freaking Unbelievable!"
"With enough money and influence what can't be changed? Let alone black to white and vice versa."
The pair chatted some more then Qin Qianyu got ready to head to her next test.
Teacher Mu found out that Qin Qianyu was a participant for SIC and super surprised and excited for her.
His chubby smile and overall demeanour was infectious to say the least and the pair left as teacher Mu led her to where she needed to be.
Along the way they bumped into Senior Zhou prancing around like a proud peacock hooked on steroids.
Teacher Mu smacked the Zhou boy upside the head really hard, the smack was so loud Qin Qianyu swore that even she could feel it.
"You mad dog! Are you crazy!? Why are you hitting me!?"
"I saw a bee! Aren't you allergic to them?"
" . . . "
Qin Qianyu understood that teacher Mu was venting on the young man.
"There's no bee! You did that on purpose!"
"Teacher you're confused,"
Qin Qianyu said lightly, Teacher Mu looked at her disappointedly but before he could say anything Qin Qianyu continued in an innocent voice,
"It's me that's allergic, and there's another one over there, please shoo it away!"
Qin Qianyu saw teacher Mu's face brighten up as he nods affirmably and swung out again hitting the Zhou boy on the other side of his head.
"Teacher there! It's over there! . . Oh now it's over there!"
"Argh! You fucking arseholes! . . Stop fucking hitting me!"
Senior Zhou screamed out madly as he kept getting swatted by teacher Mu. Both he and Qin Qianyu were enjoying themselves as he whacked about the young man's body to Qin Qianyu's direction.
"Teacher Mu use your foot it's right there! . . Ah I'll get it!"
Qin Qianyu place a well aimed kick to the young man's groin making him double over on the spot.
"Phew! That was really lucky! Imagine if I had gotten stung! . . You're a life saver teacher Mu. You have my thanks!"
"It was nothing, I was just doing what I should."
Mu Jiang uttered matter of factly.
The pair walked away leaving the disgruntled and disgraceful young man to wallow in his pain.
"Teacher Mu, you best be careful from now on. If he could buy his freedom, he could also buy yours too. Don't leave it to chance."
"Well, if they want to try and take me down for nothing, then I'll just have to do something to warrant that "nothing". Nothing a few needles to their eyes can't fix right!"
"Ah! . . Haha! . . Okay!
