That seems helpful. Open shop
[System Shop is opened. Please relay what you desire]
Wait what? what do you mean relay my desire? aren't you gonna provide some kind of list, panel of stuff that you can give or something?
[You would have to give a criteria of what you want or desire. With your given desire in mind, S would immediately provide choices in any form that you may prefer]
Oh, I was confused. I thought you meant that I need to specifically say the name of the thing that I want.
Can the shop provide materials that can help me find him? You know what I mean.
[Is that all? Do you wish to be more specific? Reminder that S will show you everything that can help you find him]
I hum as I gave the AI's more of a warning question a thought. It seems to imply that the shop will provide a large list that I might not be able to digest in a short amount of time.
You heard wh-
Before I could even finish my words, a saw white blurry figure from my peripheral vision, quickly causing me to stride backwards to avoid its pounce.
I barely avoided it, it got so close that even a match stick would be longer than the shortest distance between it and I.
It was a snow-white spider, with beady crimson eyes that looks so dead and lifeless.
This shock, this sight caused me to stiffen up, a feeling of danger immediately after the attack despite the small size of the arachnid.
The spider was disoriented for a moment due to the failed attempt, shaking its body and once again looking at me with its red eyes. Its legs starts cocking up, ready to trigger and pounce at me again, its dripping fangs furthering the rising terror within me.
It pounced!
As the distance between it and I quickly shortened, the perception of danger overwhelmed my head, forcing me to move.
I quickly used the stick on me to block its second pounce, causing it to clutch on the stick and confusing the damn thing again.
I did not pause for one bit, instantly exploiting its momentary confusion and slamming it to the ground, causing it to be trapped under the weight of the stick and force of my hold.
I moved to reposition myself, to better trap the spider and kill it.
"Die!" I raised one of my leg and forcefully brought it down upon the spider, crushing its soft body, its guts spilling out.
"Die!.Die! Die! Die! Die! Die!
Within my immediate surroundings, the sounds of my chant rang like a cold bell, its repetition and meaning brings cold to the atmosphere.
Eventually the dies stopped coming out, only to be replaced by another phrase
"Not again! Not again! Not again!"
As the sense of danger and wrath subsides, my eyes widened at what I just did. I frantically step backwards, causing me stumble.
My hand is on my mouth, the wrath in my eyes replaced with a dark, dark terror.
Tears streaming down my cheeks.
The sight of the white blood and the memory of the rage-filled burst, triggered a sleeping monster within. A monster that preferable would have been sleeping.
{flashback}
Shadows started appearing on the pedestrian road, its image visible to those within the alleyway. Deafening footsteps accompanying the ominous figures.
" Where's that bitch! I'll make sure to give her lots of love for killing boss." a deep-voiced person said with burning rage.
"Muahahahahahahaha. You mean we right?" Another one of the shadows replied with a wicked tone, and laced with lust.
"Less talkin, more stalkin you 2. I haven't had such a good catch in a while"
An authoritative voice suddenly intervened and shut them up, but despite the seriousness of his tone, it suddenly dipped into depravity.
I hold my mouth as tears fall down my face, hearing their terror-filling footsteps slowly fade away. I try to calm my shivering body by nestling my legs and body together, but the remnant fear still lingers and prevents the ascent of calm.
"Why?"
{Flashback End}
I feel like my empty stomach is creating something from nothing, just to make me puke. My tears pathetically wetting the skin on my face. I stayed on this emotionally weakened state for a few moments, lamenting at the inconvenience of my emotional surge.
I take a deep breathe. I raised my head to look at this planet's blue sky. I don't want hatred to cloud my vision, and let it become my mission. Unfortunately, I can't help it dominate my mind.
[1 Crimson-Eyed Swarm Spider killed.]
I got awakened by the system's sound, I quickly sobered up my mental state, feeling the importance of listening to it. I took a deep breathe, while lightly rubbing my palms.
I might be dominated by emotions right now, but I have not become stupid to just ignore my surroundings, and especially S.
[1 Shop Credit obtained.]
Interesting, A single weakling like this can give me 1 shop credit. This implies that the shop credit is not so valuable, and that high quality stuff is very expensive. Is there any more notifications S?
[Daily mission: Kill 10 mortal creatures. Progress: 1/10]
Daily missions huh. Show me the daily missions, S
[Daily missions:
Kill 10 mortal or above creatures(1/10)
build an F- grade or above material(0/1)
Establish or have a home base(0/1)]
I have the sudden urge to punch this system for not arriving a day earlier, how weird of me .It might be too fast to make conclusions but, does the daily missions provide 3 different types of missions per day S?
[Yes, User]
Can I use the spider corpse for anything? Can the system salvage it for something? I feel that leaving this dirty mush of flesh not only wasteful, but possibly dangerous. People could use it to track my location or something, after all any creature wouldn't go too far from their base to hunt, unless they have wide range of hunting ground.
[You can salvage it for shop credit, but a warning, User. The ratio of real life materials to shop credit is greatly skewed towards shop credit, meaning the full potential value of the material exchanged won't be reached]
Do it, I don't have any use for a flesh that is most likely just detrimental to me, at least for now.
[Please touch the material you wish to exchange]
I reached out my fingers towards the spider meat, though it is more like spider meat liquid with the venting I did on it. I touch it, and it immediately turned into wisp of light that slowly dispersed and disappeared into a land unknown.
[0.2 shop credit received]
It is as low as I expected. Is there any steel pot of any size that I can afford with my current shop credits?
[You can afford a ton of pots of small size as the system can provide anything. I do suggest this small pot that can hold 1 liter of water, I used water as the measure of its capability for your needs and wants. It only cost 1 shop credit]
Hold that trade proposal, I will return first to my base before I add anything that can restrict my mobility. I will be asking questions on the way there too, there are many things I need to understand from what I have seen you give.
I changed direction and start returning to my base, with a slight increase in speed due to the excitement I am feeling. Only now did I understand how valuable this system can be.
{An hour and a half passes}
I ripped out my wooden spear from the spider's body, creamy white blood spurting out like a fountain, for a second, and then turning into a slow stream. I flicked the far end of my tool, partially removing the blood that have sullied it. I welcome with delight the sound of credit flowing in, but to my disappointment, it is an amount I didn't expect.
[0.8 Shop credit obtained]
Why is it only 0.8 credit, S?
[The credit reward of a creature's first 4 kills is increased. The value of a kill becomes normal after that.]
That is a pity, more shop credits even a little would have been great. I salvaged the spider's body, getting 0.2 shop credit and proceeded to retrace my steps, back to home.
I need to find a settlement badge or an already established system settlement. The benefits I could get from being in one would greatly help me. Finding a relatively small human settlement would also be good, they could be used to run a system settlement, though hopefully the social hierarchy they have formed after this, quite literally world changing event, is not that terrible.
With the information I got earlier from S, both my continued survival and strengthening is subject to the power, people can give. Despite the possible reliance I might develop, the positives outmatches the negatives.
besides, I kind of miss talking to people. Being all alone in this forest feels really cold and lonely
Judging by the light. it seems that it is already a bit past noon, I should probably eat already. I could use the shop to buy a sour mango, with some spicy chili paste. I could then pair it with my boiled water in the pot. This is luxury, luxury I say.
I walk amidst the lush greens, the cold shadow of the forest trees, sheltering me from the light and warmth of the sun.
Silence is reverberating as far as my eyes could see and my ears could hear. The cold of the middle day just right for me. Step by step, with unwavering fortitude, my lone figure continues to unravel this newborn world, the one that in the present, she resides in.
