Bloody, unconscious, and heavy.
Those 3 words perfectly suits what impression this guy is giving me as I am carrying his body.
I step over some roots protruding out of the ground, walking in a swaying manner sometimes to avoid making noise and to have a smooth movement. I am doing it now just for fun mostly, since my energy sensing skill makes sure that I can't be taken by surprise.
Little Blut is also following closely, just right behind me. He can also sense others through blood magic, and is quite proficient at using it to kill, his previous preys would definitely agree.
I command my supernatural energy and to go up my head, to activate energy sensing again.
Everything seems fine, that is if I ignore the entry of a creature with a supernatural energy signature stronger than mine within my energy sensing skill's range, but still a lot weaker than the combined supernatural energy signature of me and little Blut.
This is an interesting development, though it is closer to not good really.
I felt something on my back and silently looked back, seeing that Blut is giving me a glance of warning, I lightly nod in affirmation.
I further increase my focus in being quiet, and coating the surface of my skin with supernatural energy, and trying to mask my color, smell, and energy signature.
"Hey little Blut, do you think a cloaking skill would suit me?"
He looks at me with a deadpan face
"Can you not add little to my name?"
"No" I reply with a playful smile
"Is that negotiable?"
"Still no"
A sigh came out of him, the closest thing to an expression from him, even than last night's long talk about our worlds.
"So? Do you think it would fit fine? I mean I usually try to sneak up on my prey but most of the times I get noticed and they start sprinting in a blink of an eye, at least for the smaller ones"
Another sigh came out again from little Blut's mouth
"Why did you ask me then if you already thought about why you should get the skill then?"
"Silence is suffocating, little Blut" I replied with a straight face.
(A few minutes later)
A carnivorous brown squirrel is on the floor of the forest, eating a disfigured carcass of a small animal.
The small fight between it and the dead animal have not left it unscathed, considering that there is a 2 bleeding holes on its stained abdominal fur but despite the wound, the critter is busy mutilating the corpse under its sharp teeth.
Unfortunately for the eating animal, it will be its last meal and it wouldn't even notice it coming.
A silver dagger rapidly came out of the leaves and descended upon the squirrel, giving only a narrow space of time to escape its range, something the little creature did not manage to exploit.
I stand up as wisps of light disappears, and assessed the results of my new skill.
Energy Cloak, a newly bought skill from this morning and early afternoon's loot. It costs about 250 shop credits, 150 credits below the energy sensing skill but greatly more valuable because of what it meant to my supernatural energy control proficiency.
So far, its presence hiding capability is quite good. That squirrel was a very crappy thing to kill when it has such a good sense of smell and can react with great speed, because of that I don't normally get close enough to strike it down immediately.
Lady Luck was definitely smiling at me 2 days ago, barely gained a bit over 400 shop credits that day, especially with the lower quality and quantity of creatures but well I am not complaining. I sigh a bit, looking at my meager amount of 268 credit points, the past hours fruits of my labor.
I return to little Blut's side, ready to finish the remaining hours of the day and return home to rest and probably add more things to the base.
I was also quite lucky about that throw, it could have changed course due to the low-quality of my throwing skills.
I used energy sensing again, noting the slower movement of the thing. It might have noticed the sudden drop in background noises by the forest's small creature, but it could also mean that it can notice changes in energy and bodily signs.
I gently lowered down the body I am carrying unto the ground, and signaled for Blut to follow me.
I slowly move forward, with Blut just several meters on my side but a meter or 2 behind me.
The thing might have also noticed our approaching presence, considering that it started to move in a frantic manner, its energy signature moving around its body.
Oh? This thing is also another 1st supernatural level just like yesterday's 5 birds, 5 dead birds after we were done with it.
This thing is much higher compared to the birds yesterday though, it has at least 2 supernatural energy worth of the birds from yesterday.
Lengthening my pace, I made my first move since I am starting to think that it is getting too unnecessarily long.
I walk
I walk
I walk
Here I hide, in one of the dark trunk of a tree, my invisibility being further exacerbated by the dense and green cover of the grasses, leaves and my activated energy cloak skill.
It is right in the middle of 2 large trees, with its width occupying only half of the distance between the 2 trees, its demeanor flushed and active, ready to pounce at any signs of attack from its surroundings.
I left my hiding position and started to slowly approach the lone wolf clad in a grey fur.
And as one can guess, it finally managed to pinpoint my position, start rapidly running towards to where I am.
I barely have a few seconds to react properly when it jumped at a close enough distance to bite me, its jaw wide open with a shining set of ivory white teeth.
My quickly stabbed its neck, just as I intended when I readied my blade to strike in an upward manner. But, I was still pushed down as its weight hit me, and it lay above me.
I pushed aside the wolf and stood up, instantly going with the usual routine when we kill something
Quickly, I reached out to finish the grey wolf and salvage it for the points.
But in an instant, it snapped awake and swallowed my hand, its fangs digging as far into my wrist. A suppressed grunt quickly surfaced from me while I took the dagger's handle and twisted it, finishing the already heavy wounded wolf.
Its body finally go limp, and I took my hand out of its wretched face. I hold my arm a bit, closing my eyes as I try to suppress the pain.
I quickly bought a piece of cloth, with a tiny price of 0.2 shop credit and wrapped it around my hand.
I clenched my hands a bit to test it. A sharp inhalation of cold air as I my arm twitch at the pain.
Kicking the wolf's body before I salvaged it, I return to back to the original path, careful as to not exacerbate the pain.
Little Blut is still following closely, with his usual poker face, not saying a word about the hunt that just occurred and the results of it.
Was that a normal behaviour for that kind of wolf? I don't think any animal would suddenly just go around attacking everything it can see, judging by its bloodied mouth and bloodshot eyes.
It also did not use its energy pool when it tried to kill me.
I should probably stop thinking about that, what matters is that it all went well.
The journey back was mostly peaceful, with a several kills here and there but none weren't as powerful as the lone grey wolf we just encountered.
"Finally, home" I say in a small but cheerful manner
Walking towards the tent, I bought 2 pieces of 5mx5m cloth from the shop with 6 shop credits, making me feel a bit of sting at having to spend so much credits again for shelter improvement.
"Guard him for now, little Blut"
"I still hate that adjective, Ria"
"Heh, don't hate me now little Blut, It hurts my feelings" My tone in a playful manner
I thought for a minute on where I should increase the space of the tent and decided that I will improve on the side of the rock.
After finishing setting it up, I took the wounded man inside and lay him on the cloth, careful that I don't exacerbate his wounds.
I bought some medical supplies and with my limited medical knowledge, doing my best to treat his injuries. Disinfected and cleaned his wounds, and changed the cloth for his wounds, then little Blut suddenly gets closer and puts his hand over his abdomen.
A light and soft red glow starts coming out of little Blut's hand, and a small stream of more concentrated red light also started coming out and flowing into the new guy's body.
Despite already seeing little Blut send tiny but sharp spikes of blood flying into the bodies of our enemies, I can't help but still be amazed by the beauty of magic and the things it can do.
The effects of what seems to be a healing magic derived from blood magic, which is implied from the less labored breathing of the poor guy, but I am not sure of the exact effects that it did to the wounds itself.
He also directed healing magic towards the tattered hand of the guy and mine, with a less concentrated red color.
And to my expectations, I feel like my hand is a bit ticklish as I felt a growth of flesh happen to my wounds, wiping away a good amount of strain on my hand in the process.
After finishing what little Blut did, I managed to give out a sigh of relief. I looked at little Blut, my mind in question of the specific effects of this magic but this curiosity is quickly dispelled with something from little Blut.
"Don't worry, the surface of his wounds should be closed up already, everything should go well from here"
"Thanks for the help Blut, I appreciate it"
