Graceona
"Where are you going, Grace?" I heard Leonard behind me. "I never said I was after Aria to cause her harm. Believe me, I don't want to think of her as the enemy either, lets talk this out. Don't give up on us, over something that you think I may or may not think. I love Aria, like she is one of my own. I would never attack her to hurt her."
I stopped, turning to face him. "You believe Ammon's theory, Leonard. That's proof enough that you would attack Aria, for false accusations."
He sighed. "I don't know what I believe, Grace. If Ammon isn't the enemy, and Aria's not the enemy, who do you suppose is? Tell me your opinion, that's why I wanted you to come along with me. I trust your opinions and I know you have better judgment. I wouldn't have told you this if I didn't trust you. I told you because I'm in a rock in a hard place, I knew I could trust you. You tell me not to worry about something that's not happening, but how can I trust that it's not come to that, you say there is no wedge between us but look at us. We're bickering at one another, we don't have each other's backs. I'm sensing you would rather have a divorce and be done with me, if I have to be honest with you about what I'm getting from you. If that's what you want, like I said earlier, whatever you want from me, it's yours. I will not fight you for anything. Look, I have to meet Ammon. Just think about it, and let me know something. Whatever you decide, I'll support your decision. Just please grant me one thing." I looked at him. "Just don't take Kourtney away from me. You can have everything else. The homes, whatever, I just ask for Kourtney."
He walked away from me.
I followed him with a sigh. "That's it. I could have the homes, or whatever I wanted, if it came to that point in our lives. You just want Kourtney. You would want something that I brought into this world. What would you do with her? Raise her as a single father, get married to someone else? Leonard, you're talking crazy. A divorce is what you assume I want. I mean, your being away for a year was rough. But it hardly put something between us, as I told August when he played as you. I will die for you. That was my whole reason in Infernias was to turn myself in and get the death sentence, trust me I feel I had angered Ammon enough for him to grant me that, and he probably would have if that ant hadn't gotten in the way, I would have died. Don't start making assumptions about me, Leonard, you know better than this."
He looked at me with a sigh. "Assumptions, Graceona. You were the one going off the deep end with the assumptions. I told you facts. I never added an assumption in my statement. Facts and assuming things are different, and if you refuse to give me Kourtney, I will get my rights to her. A child doesn't need two parents. You know I could raise the child without you. I'm done with this. I'm at that point to where I don't love you any longer. I'm done playing nice. I'm done being the thing that I was never meant to be. Go to Halcyon stay there. I don't need your help, and I don't need you." He smiled, looking at me, walking around me, glaring at me. "You may have slowed Leonard down, puppet. But you won't get in my way. There will be an Eternal Calm with or without you, no matter which it is. You shall die heartbroken and alone." He laughed. "Just as your own mother died trying to save your father. Face it Graceona, all you are is an empty puppet, just like your mother. You are nothing but a weak and helpless child, lost and delusional. As I had done with the shape-shifters, I have zero interest in getting you back to your feet. You will die in this battle and it shall be by hands, remember one thing, darling. You brought this on yourself."
I felt the sharp, burning pain as hot liquid oozed from my stomach. I looked to see that an enormous sword was in my abdomen. As he pushed me from the blade, looking up at the man I had loved, he glared down at me. "Vega, remember that name well, puppet. Sad no one will come to your funeral, I will make sure of that."
He stabbed me once more, then darkness greeted me.
Vega
I looked down at the savior of the realms, cleaning my blade. "This is the beginning of a new era, and I will bring a Calm that no one dreamed of. They will all remember my name. These fools will see times of terror. However, I am saddened by your trust. Though I am not shocked, the mighty savior of the world lying in a heap of flesh at the feet of the man she loved. This is beautiful, the level of betrayal that ended you. Truly a work of art." I looked up at the sky. "This is for you, father!" I looked at my blade before sheathing it, walking away from the remains of the world's last hope.
I extended my hand as the earth shook; the skies turned to blood as the sun turned black. Raindrops of blood fell to the earth as fires consumed the ground. Screams filled my ears as my appearance changed to my own. Lighting flashed. In the blood puddle that was the savior I saw I ruby gem, bending down to retrieve it as it glowed a soon transforming into an enormous sword. I looked at it, twisting it around. "Marvelous, how you could tame this, when my brother failed. No matter." I laughed as the sword turned to a gem I placed it in my pocket. As darkness took over the lands.
