Chapter 11 - Questionable uncertainties

I noticed a commotion from a distance.

A man wearing a helmet on his head is being chased by a police officer and was pushing the people away that are up ahead him, making them fall on the ground.

The officer behind who just shouted recently was also trying to make his way through, continuing his pursuit of the man.

"MOVE! PLEASE MOVE!" The officer yelled on his way ahead while his hands were swinging around, trying to make the people move.

"Oi oi~ what is that, what's going on?"

I continued in watching the man while giving out a thrilling expression as he was escaping, though it got me wary afterwards 'till there was something odd further way.

"Hey, it's heading towards the direction of Uncle Bob. UNCLE BOB! WATCH OUT!"

Bob, who hasn't noticed and was not aware of the commotion, was bumped over by the escaping man who was also not mindful of his presence, causing him to make a few rolls down on the ground.

Bob tried getting up quick, but he was feeling the result of the impact on his shoulder, his face crampled in pain.

The suspicious guy too got tripped; however, he quickly recovered and rushed away from seeing the non-stop chasing police officer behind.

Seeing Bob who was in pain, it made me quickly and worriedly running towards him.

"Uncle---"

"I'm okay kid. I just got took down. This pain is nothing."

Bob slowly stood up while still holding to his left shoulder, and I sighted another police officer from a distance that was fast approaching to our direction.

"PLEASE MAKE SPACE. Where did they go?" The second officer stopped and asked us.

"Over there officer!" Bob pointed at the direction where the man and the other police had run into.

Meanwhile, I was already bursting in anger, pissed off of what the jerk has done to my uncle.

With my mind gone calm, I inhaled and exhaled.

I stretch my head, arms and legs, and after I have conditioned myself, I then dashed off like a road runner before the officer who is with us could even do so while leaving poor Bob behind.

"Hey Hanzaki! Wait! Where are you going!?"

Bob tried stopping me; however, my mind was fixated in chasing the man and I haven't bothered listening to him at all.

Along the way, I lost track on the both of them while running in a fast pace.

The people around has been continuing to cross each other, making it hard for me to get a better look of the situation, and abruptly a barricading crowd has appeared in front, halting me on my feet.

The numbers have made me become indecisive, looking around while thinking of a way, but at the end, I quickly and carefully moved through the mass with my head turning around numerously and continuously in trying to get a glimpse of the man and the officer.

At some point from searching, I finally caught a glimpse of them when they passed by in a narrow path that was in between two building structures.

With no hesitation, I made haste in catching up, but another crowd has appeared in just an instant.

"Tsk! What now?"

There was no time to waste so I run through it again, creating my own path. But this time around, I shouted at the people to make space and have put a bit of force to make them move.

"Hey! Watch it!"

"Oi! What are you doing?"

"Sorry, Sorry, kindly move please."

The people were complaining and have gotten irritated as I forcedly push them away, yet I continued to make a run for it, and have eventually broken myself free in the middle of the crowd while also continuing to speed up once again.

"Don't make me pull out my gun! Stop and put your hands down NOW!"

Finally had caught up, they were just a few meters up ahead and I can clearly hear the officer's yelling from my distance, but I won't be able to fully catch up to them with this pace, and not to mention the crowd that has been a hindrance from capturing the bad guy.

Moreover, it looked like the chasing officer can't seem to use his gun because of it, and more likely this was an advantage for the running man since from the start.

I looked around and ahead of my way, and have somehow come up with a plan. I turned into a different direction, trying to intersect them; a shortcut.

It wasn't assuring, but I've got to try and keep up my pace from running, but on the way, I lost visual of them due to the large buildings blocking my view, yet I still kept moving through the unfamiliar path while not having to know where I'm heading.

From a narrow path between structures, I got out and have gone back on the main road. I looked at my left, my right--- and there they are from a distance, speeding towards my direction.

I set my mind and body ready, and have taken off once more. The man seemed not to be aware of my presence that was swiftly approaching towards him.

Just a bit more, and when the man noticed me who was already close upfront, he had no time to evade as I charge directly at him, putting my shoulders on front, hitting him at his chest.

Because of the motion from us two, we have lost our balance especially due to the force that I've exerted and were both thrown hard on the ground.

"Ouch ouch ouch!"

Since I was not prepared for the impact, I was holding my head, rolling over on the floor while feeling the pain.

I tried getting up quickly, yet I failed to do so as it was impossible with my condition.

Unfortunately, on the other hand, the man has started to get up as the officer behind us was quickly nearing.

The suspect then dashed into a motorcycle, seemingly to be his, and has driven away insanely at full speed while leaving a smoke behind.

Mostly likely at this point the chase has ended, and the police officer stopped in front of me as he caught up to the current situation.

"Damn it! I never thought he had something like that in hand."

Resting myself sitting on the ground, I was feeling a little better. Though my head still hurts, my surroundings weren't spinning around anymore like a while ago.

"Hey kid, are you okay?" Mr. Slow poke called and has lent out his hand to me.

"Yes, I'm oka----- huuuh?"

When I was about to stand up, grabbing the officer's lending hand using my right one, there was something that is on my left hand that I had touched. I caught something that seemed to belong to the suspect.

"A bag?"

"What's that kid?"

"I think it's from the man."

Flashback… I remembered the scenario when I charged straight into the guy.

"Oh, I think it was the time when I charged into him. He could've drop and left it."

But come to think of it, I haven't noticed it since from the beginning. Maybe something happened along the way when I lost them.

"We will be taking custody of these then."

"Okay, here you go sir." I handed him over the lead.

Even though the suspect had escaped, I was satisfied enough in giving back the favour by knocking him down as well, kuku.

Meanwhile, the people around us has quickly gotten noisy with their likely gossips about what just happened, but without staying any longer, I immediately made myself quick in heading back to where Bob is.

"Uncle Bob! Are you fine now---"

*BOOOINK!*

Feeling the pain once more right after coming back, I directly got punched on the head.

"OOUUUCCCHHH! What was that for?"

Bob's punch had me holding my head for seconds.

"What the hell are you doing!? Kid, you could've gotten yourself killed over there."

"It wasn't that bad. Besides, I almost caught the suspect."

"I know helping is good, but it is better not to be involved in cases like those."

"Is it that bad?"

"No, it's not bad. It's dangerous, really dangerous."

Bob's fierce and angry look made me gulped. It was like a kind of parenting but on another level.

"Tsk, the commotion has made the people to scramble. Now Adam can't get near us."

While Bob was busy with our worries, his phone suddenly rang inside his pocket, and quickly he picked up the call.

"Oh, hey Adam!"

"What's with all these people?"

"Yeah I know. Something happened. Change of plans Adam, we'll be the one heading towards you. Try to get closer to us."

"No problem."

"Eeehh!?"

"No complaints kid. Let's GO!"

"Fine." I sigh.

We took out our stuffs one by one until our hands were full and have carried the goods back at the truck, and we went back again to the baggage counter to fetch the remaining goods until there would be nothing else left.

"That's the last one right?"

"There is one more Adam, wait for me."

I was carrying something ridiculously heavy, making me worn out of it. I then wiped the sweat on my face by using my arm while putting the goods down.

For someone who came back from running all over the place, it sure got me exhausted.

Then I helped myself on taking a quick break as of the moment.

Looking around while resting, there are familiar faces sighted up ahead.

"Hmm? Hey, I know those guys." I noticed the police officers that I met just a while ago at a distant, sitting inside their police car while seeming to be talking to each other.

I then move towards them to check them out.

Though they were likely busy with something, somehow they have noticed my presence that was closing in.

One of the officers then has let out his head through the open window and has faced towards at me.

"Hey, you're that kid from earlier. I heard you're the one who took down the guy." The officer stated with a somewhat smile of amazement.

"Yeah, but he actually got away." I stop as I got close enough for the talks.

"But thanks to you we got something he had left behind. And it seems---"

"Hey, quit it!" As soon as the officer that I was talking with was about to say something, the other one gave him a light punch to his shoulder, stopping him for a certain reason.

Oh my Oh my~ It looks like something's up inside the bag that I got. These two officers are suspicious. It is most likely that they are hiding something important from me.

But one of them sure is an airhead, carelessly leaking a hint like that. I'll take this chance to ask and use my contribution as an edge.

"Sir, at least as the one who is responsible for capturing the bag, can you tell me what's inside?"

From hearing my request, the officers have gone staring at each other in trying to decide, while at the same time I haven't got to breathe for seconds in waiting for their decision.

"Fine--- *Sighs*--- It looks like the things that were found inside were--- parts being use to make a bomb."

"A bomb?" I reacted in a low tone out of disbelief.

Good grief, I wish I hadn't asked. Now I got involved with grave news. I hope I won't be hunted down by just knowing about this information.

"Yes, but that's only our opinion. We'll be returning it now to the station."

These cops are too good of a person that they even have shared a crucial lead. And by the way, was it okay to leak out the info in the first place? I'm starting to doubt the credibility of these two. Oh well, I was the one who forced them to.

"Hey kid, you got guts on chasing the man."

"Thanks. And by the way, what exactly happened anyway?"

"Hmm, we noticed the guy's suspicious movements and gestures so we tried to follow him. When we got the chance, we went near him and asked to inspect him, but then he just suddenly ran off from us. Because of him rejecting the request of us officials, our instincts told us to chase him and that it seems there was something nasty involved with it."

"Listen here young man. We're grateful to you for getting a piece of this evidence coming from the suspect, but it is best not to be involved next time okay? A youth like you should not be expose to danger. You've got to live your life to the fullest kid."

"Okay. I'll bear that in mind sir."

"Well then, off we go kid."

The car then started moving, and the officers have driven their way back to their station.

Well as for me, the recently acquired information got me standing still in the middle of the empty road.

"They told me the same thing as what Uncle Bob said. I guess that I should really listen to him. I've got to be careful now, and just what in the world might happen someday?"

"Oi kid! We're ready to go-- Huh? And hey, what are you doing there anyway?"

I was spacing out as of the moment though I did hear his call, yet it took seconds for me to stop myself from procrastinating.

"Be right there!"

"Hurry! We're leaving you now."

From seeing the truck that was speeding up, I have gone rushing back to them. I worriedly hurried to them as maybe they would really leave me behind, not to mention Bob being a bully sometimes.

As I caught up while running, I grab onto the side of the truck and then have put my jump on timing, safely boarding over at the back of the vehicle.

With what I had just experienced and knew, I got wary for what might happen of the days to come. It's not just about my personal problems, but also to this place, and to this world.

Indeed it was frightening when hearing such news. Since I got other matters to put my mind on, I'll be setting this aside and will continue to focus about my plans for the future.

After a while coming from the supermarket, we got back safe and sound. We get down from the vehicle and have started to carry and transfer the goods to the inside.

Meanwhile, the sun was already setting at the moment, and more works are just ahead of us waiting in standby. I tried forgetting of what has happened, but until now I'm still having terrifying thoughts about it.
