Chapter three

"Your wings!" He exclaimed as he turned me around.

"What happened to them?"

"They were torn off by a hell beast. The protect sent Seer to heal them, but she couldn't restore them to their former glory." Helios sat down next to dad. They looked so much alike.

"We must get you to the protector!"

"We can't." I mumbled my white bangs falling in my face.

"It's a ten day trip flying. Heavens knows how long it'll take to walk. Not to mention there's a war going on."

"You need your wings. It'll take less if we borrow the humans automation."

"I might protect the humans but I refuse to use there disgusting devices. I am not a human."

"You look like one." One of the other Guardians chuckled. I spun around and pointed my sword towards the young lady.

"I am the son of Iason Adones. How dare you insult me! I lost me wings in battle. While you were snuggled under blankets and eating I was out there fighting to protect your lowly a-"

"Enough Erinyes. Come sit." Dad took my hand and pulled me to the ground.

"How have you to been?"

"Could be better. Our district fell so we had to make our way to the Gallen district."

"Your mother isn't far from there. She's in the Drower district. But the Holland district has also fallen. If the last two districts fall then we're done for. Currently guardians are trying to get the Gates of Dystopia back in the sky but, we're not sure it's possible. The Protecter has a barrier around the Drower District and the Gates. However we're not sure how long it'll hold." He handed us a bowl of stew as he pulled out a small map.

"If we can get troops to Sheol then we can take down Nyx and Thanatos. And put a stop to this violence. I don't understand why they broke the treaty. Maybe they thought we broke ours but, whatever the case is, it needs to end."

"You said mom is in Drower?" Helios asked setting his bowl down.

"Yes."

"Which way is Sheol?"

"In the first district. But it isn't safe there. Holland is over run with Hellions."

"We're currently on the borders of Farrow and Gallen. If we try to get to the Gates right now, it'll be at least a twenty day trip. If we try to go to Sheol it'll be the same time. And then a forty day trip back to the other end." I mumbled under my breath.

"If we could make a contraption that allowed me to carry Erinyes while I fly, then it would be less time." The other Guardians were now captivated by the conversation as we tried to come up with a  plan.

"What if instead of making a contraption for you, we make on for me."

"What do you mean?" Dad asked as he poured more stew or Helios.

"False wings!" I exclaimed.

"That could work if we had the right parts. If we could get word to Hephaestus, then she could build us wings."

"But Enyo and Bellona have her in their grips and you know how they are." Dad sighed and pulled out a note book.

"They're still guardians. They're bound to help and protect other guardians." Hope bubbled in my chest at the thought of having wings again.

"They're beyond the boarders though." Helios pointed to a spot beyond the walls of Eros.

"They were banished from heaven and hell." Dad laid a book down. There was a picture of A tall half tainted man and a shorter half tainted woman scowling at the camera.

"How are they half tainted?"

"Their nature isn't considered pleasurable to be Guardians. But they aren't Hellions either."

"But they'll still help us if we go to them?" Helios put his hand on my back sending shivers down my spine.

"There's no time to go there. You have to decide where to go first though. The Gates of Dystopia or the Gates of Sheol. Which ever you chose I'll support you."

"We should really report back to the Protector and see mom. We new equipment and Vulcan can help with that."

"But if we go to Drower first then it'll take longer to get to Holland. Maybe we should split up."

"I'm not leaving your side." Helios' glare seemed ever more threatening than normal. His crystal blue eyes felt like they were splitting my soul.

"It would be faster and if you go to Drower you could see mom."

"So you wanted to go to Sheol by yourself without wings?"

"Is that what this is about?" I stood up and toward over him.

"Cause I'm wingless?"

"You're my brother and your wingless because of me." He slowly stood up getting taller and taller before he finally looked over me.

"Enough! You'll go to Drower together and get repairs. I don't care if it takes longer. You two are staying together! You need each other and I don't want to find my boys dead on the field on opposite ends of the map. There's no debate in this either. And yes, Erinyes, your life will change a lot now that you're wingless and you'll have to get used to it. But that doesn't make any less of a son or Gaurdian." Dad always knew how to resolve tension. That's why he was always picked to go to war meetings.

"You're not any less my brother either. But I will worry about you more despite the fact that I know you can handle your own. Dads word is finale though. We'll leave for Drower tomorrow."

"For now you two rest and we'll have healers look at any wounds."

Helios and I left the tent and made our way to the barracks tent. The rain softened to a drizzle as the murmur of prayers and cries continued to fill the air. Night time would approach eventually, and we need to be ready for the next attack.
