I'm Going To Make An Offer That You Can Refuse But I Doubt You Will

The sky was covered in darkness and the moon was absent and could not be seen. Everywhere he goes, all there it is were corpses. He was passing by this horrific view and atmosphere when all of a sudden, one of the corpse grabbed his foot.

"Why?..." the bloody corpse of a woman said.

He was terrified and was trying to shake off the corpse's hands. He could not do it though. He was forced to watch the sight of the pleading body when all of a sudden, it transformed its face. He recognized the familiar face.

"Mom?" he said.

Before he could say anything else, another hand grabbed him. This time, it was his father's face.

"Revenge..." it said.

All of the other corpses started going to him with the same chant. They want revenge. They were crying for vengeance at the boy. The boy was scared. He's crying, he doesn't know what to do nor to respond. He broke down completely.

All of a sudden, it was all just a nightmare.

Payne was catching his breath when he woke up suddenly from that bad dream. The memories were haunting him. He could remember now the faces of his loved ones, especially his parents. They're all dead, even in his dreams.

Payne stood up in order to drink a glass of water. He went to the kitchen where it was dark and quiet. It was still in the middle of the night when this happened.

As he was drinking, his eyes gazed upon a picture. It was a picture of Mr. Gulden, his adoptive father. He was reminded of the promise he made before Mr. Gulden meet its end. That promise is not to pursue the path of revenge.

Payne was only human though, at least that's how he was raised by the Garnetts. The ever-growing nightmares that he continuously had already reached his limits. He knew he couldn't carry on knowing that his family's killer is still somewhere out there. It's not like he couldn't do anything either. He was given the power of his Wolfgang genes. He hold the picture frame.

"Forgive me father I might have to break my promise.. " he quietly said.

The guard led Zaqiel to an office. He opened the door for Zaqiel and immediately left because he already served his purpose. Inside the office, an old man was sitting with a desk in front while smoking a cigar.

"Excuse me" Zaqiel said politely trying to get the attention of the Don.

The Don puts his cigar in the ashtray before standing up. He stood in front of his desk.

"I've been expecting you my boy since the first match of yours" the Don said.

Zaqiel was puzzled by the Don's word.

"Okay, thanks I guess" an unsure Zaqiel replied.

The Don's presence slightly intimidated Zaqiel. Zaqiel wasn't really that much respectful when it comes to elders but there's something about the Don that even someone like him, was commanded by the presence the Don had in the room. The Don then slightly leaned to sit in the table and began speaking.

"The name is Mr. Firo Ricci. People call me Don Firo or Don Ricci, it doesn't matter, you may choose what pleases you. I'm here to offer you an opportunity"

Zaqiel nodded slowly signaling that he's listening.

"You see, the tournament, that was just the beginning. I'm here to present you an opportunity far greater than the championship prize that you had. You will be paid handsomely and double-, no triple of what you've just won earlier" Don Firo added.

"What is this opportunity that you're proposing, Don Firo?" Zaqiel asked.

"I've put together a team of fighters and I want you to be part of it. All you had to do is take down the bad guys that we'll be targeting and that's it. Piece of cake, easy money" Don Firo answered.

Zaqiel was skeptical of the offer. He thought about it for a while before asking another question.

"Why should I accept your offer? What's in it for me?"

"Well aside from the afore mentioned insane amount of money, you will also receive some training. I know you're already strong, hell you beat the crap out of your opponents easily awhile ago, but I noticed you're not that much of a fighter. You freestyle your way in. While it's not necessarily a bad thing, with the strength of yours, the matches could've ended before it started. That's where I come into play. The team that I've just built is as strong if not, might even be stronger than you, and I think it's interesting to see. You'll grow even beyond your potential if you decide to take my offer. So what do you say? Will you take it?" Don Firo said.

Zaqiel took a brief pause before answering the Don's question. He knew whatever his answer would be, it'll be life changing for him.

"I'll think about it. Give me 3 days to do so" Zaqiel answered.

"Yeah sure. I'll give you our numbers, we'll be in touch" Don Firo respond.

Zaqiel left and went home thinking about the offer. He had 3 days to come up with a decision.

It was already late at night when he went home. Everyone in the house were already asleep. As he was walking towards his room, Payne's room was open. He took a glimpse of his brother. Payne was sleeping soundly this time.

For the past few days, he was haunted by his nightmares of his past. Zaqiel would often wake up in the middle of the night, hearing his brother scream in his sleep. Tonight was a peaceful one but he knew changes must occur. He closed Payne's door and went to his room. He sat on his bed and began thinking.

"If I was with Payne back then and I was already strong, the massacre wouldn't have happened. He wouldn't need to suffer like this. Yes I can't bring the dead back, but I can still use this strength to protect them.... I guess revenge as well is possible now"

Three days have passed, Zaqiel called Don Firo.

"So what's your answer kid?" Don Firo asked.

With a determined face, Zaqiel made his decision.

"Yes, I will accept the offer" he said.

Don Firo gave the address where Zaqiel will meet with him. It was the Don's mansion. When Zaqiel got there, he was overwhelmed of how big the place is.

"The Don is filthy rich" he thought as he was walking inside.

The guard led him to a waiting room. Inside the waiting room were 5 individuals. They looked like in their late twenties to early thirties. Zaqiel was the youngest of them. It was only a matter of time before the Don came in. By being in the room, Zaqiel knew they'll be drastic changes for him in the future.
