Chapter 28

After both freaking out again at the thought of your digimon being in the real world, and gushing about how awesome it was. You decided to take Gatomon on a walk through Shinjuku, both to clear your head and show her the sites.

You took her on a long walk as she rode your shoulder. You showed her the market area, the orphanage you grew up in, the giant two buildings belonging to the mysterious Hypnos company who not one person you'd ever asked had known about what they do exactly.

It was the local park you took her too last, where things got a little freaky.

"What is this?" Gatomon asked, peering intently at the bank of fog that just came out of nowhere and covered the area.

"Eh, it's just some weird weather that's been going on the past few months, I see one of these every few days at some part of the city, it's no big deal." you waved her off.

"No!" Gatomon hissed, "This isn't normal."

Her yellow eyes shifted about before she pointed to the right, where the centre of the park should be, "Over there!" her eyes went slit, almost viral looking.

You turned to look and to your surprise, there was a beam of light building there, getting larger and larger until it spontaneously disappeared and left a shadow behind.

This is some horror movie shit right here.

Good thing you're blatantly superhuman with the even more outrageously powerful Gatomon riding your shoulder.

"Come on out whoever you are," you ordered casually, "If you don't, I'm going to get violent."

There was silence for a moment and then the shadow in the fog turned.

"Make..." a nasally voice rang through the air, and the shadow stepped into view. A small purple dragon glared at you with fangs bared, a Monodramon, "Me digivolve!"

With a roar, the digimon launched itself at you. Instinctively at the threat of violence, you stepped forward yourself and threw a fist out in a punch, "Supreme King Fist!" you roared back.

A massive fist of darkness launched from your fist and before the Monodramon could react, the fist ploughed into it and erased it from existence in an instant.

All that was left was purple data. And it took you a second to realize, that instinctively, you'd called your gauntlets out at the very second you struck out.

Huh.

Raising up your digivice, you scanned half the data to gain a Tsunomon egg and let Gatomon load the rest. Weirdly, the fog disappeared the moment its data went bye bye.

Though there was a frown on the cat digimon's face. "What's wrong?" you asked her.

"That data..." she trailed off and shook her head, "There was a bit of some kind of blockage when I tried to load it, I only got maybe a fifth of it added to my power."

Huh, that would make it stupidly hard for a digimon to digivolve when loading data alone in the real world.

Wait.

Your eyes widened. Ruki! The little missteps when she spoke, her shock at digivolving in Eden being so simple at least for the rookie and champion level. She knew, didn't she?

Did that mean she had a digimon of her own? Maybe met one that came through to this world? And how did Eden tie into this? You knew they ended up in Eden after fleeing the digital world. Cold they initially be aiming for the real world?

A tug on your hair drew you from your thoughts, "We must move boss," she hissed quietly, "I can sense many of those vehicles you showed me today rushing towards this location."

Well now, the plot gets thicker.

Still, for now, it was best for you to get out of here before you drew any unwanted attention. You could just hack the street camera's later to find out whoever the hell it is rushing here.

To be safe, you activated your Stealth skill and like a super awesome ninja left the park quickly and quietly.

Once you were out of dodge, you pulled our phone up and called Ruki.

"H-hello." she gasped into the phone deeply after a few minutes.

You raised an eyebrow, "Hey Ruki, I was wanting to see if you wanted to meet up."

She panted into the phone and you could hear quick pounding foot steps on pavement and the noise of a crowd, "No can do, in a rush to get to a...shop for my grandma before it shuts," she replied in a rushed fashion, "Gotta go Hayato, I'll see you tomorrow in school."

Then she hung up.

"Huh," your other eyebrow joined the first, "Well that was a thing."

You decided to just head home for now. There you can check out those security cameras and their footage to find out who the hell was rushing towards that park.

And of course, cuddle with your lovely little kitty cat!
