SILENT JOE

Ruby looked to the other two sitting beside her with dread written over her face.

"Yeah, I can't believe he just killed them like that. I know things have been getting worse lately, but this is too much."

The death of the mother and son this morning had shaken everybody into submission. They all held onto the delusion that the lord was above openly killing and torturing people, but it seemed even that wasn't something he would hold back on.

Ruby, especially, was no stranger to seeing people die at the hand of the Lord. But these people were usually those she didn't really know, or who had been brought into the city as slaves and refused to bow to the Lord.

She knew the woman who had died. She knew both her and her son closely.

Mira came up and put her hand around her sister comfortingly.
