"Is there a reason you're so adamant?" Apophane said while swirling another glass of wine about. He looked towards the kneeling Frieda with an impassive gaze.
"He wishes to challenge you it seems. I only –"
"Don't take me for a fool, Frieda." Apophane's voice was chilling and it cut into Frieda like a knife. The man shut up immediately, "You simply don't wish to lose. It is admirable, your ambitious nature. But it could be the death of you"
Frieda still said nothing. He inclined his head lower.
Apophane hummed, "You may leave. I'll think about it"
Frieda stood up and exited the room quickly. Once he was gone, Apophane smiled into his glass.
"How interesting."
