(Aarons POV)
Evan had to stop multiple times ,now ,to take a one minute break every now and then. To say he looked exhausted would be an understatement. He looked half dead just working his usual shifts. Now he looks.. deceased..
He was taking more and more shots of some alcohol, I don't know what kind exactly though. But it was obvious that the work was getting to him and I am so happy this is not his every day job. This would literally destroy him as a person entirely.
Just the thought of him being like this all the time breaks my heart, because I personally truly find it sad when a person is so overwhelmed in work, that they have absolutely no time for their personal lives anymore and that could literally kill a person, and they just start rotting slowly from the inside out and slowly but surely there would someday be nothing left of that person, and only little details like pictures or their own work shows who they once were.
And I am personally very worried that that is already happening to Evan. And I also just newly found out from miss Ellie that he has a pretty ugly past and many unfortunate happenings in his life that made him the way he is. She told me that she thinks that Evan will one day be beyond repair and his life will only get worse and worse.
Also the thing with his girlfriend just newly. I don't know why but I feel like being near him could help him with some of his problems... maybe we could become friends one day?..
I even told him a little bit about one of my past relationship.
It's just sad because even though he is so stressed out, he still has to get in there and smile and be cheerful and happy. Every time he steps out of that crowded and loud room he lets out a breath I don't think he even knew he was holding.
Exhaustion was written all over his face.
And any outsider would think about the pay and skill. Even I asked myself at first the same thing. But you have to keep in mind that even if a job pays well, it is not worth it, ruining your health for it.
I sincerely hope he won't ever leave this place. It pays really well and the owner actually cares if his employees are well or not. Which, that doesn't occur in every coffee shop. But he should always say if something is wrong, or bothering him. And he shouldn't just ruin himself just for a job!
"Evan, are you ok, I think you should take a break. Pease don't force yourself for just a stupid job!" I told him directly. He looked at me for a second then turned away and started to mix more drinks. He took another shot of whatever he was drinking and looked at me.
"There are no breaks when you're a- ... what the fuck am I even?" He questioned himself while scrunching his eyebrows in confusion, then took a tray with some nasty looking drinks and quickly rushed into the guest room.
I was starting to grow worried by the way he acted just now. It's worrisome because he didn't even know what he was anymore.
I wonder why it makes him so tense, and why he keeps on resisting and insisting that this is very important. So I sneaked slowly towards the entrance and opened the door the tiniest bit.
What I saw in there shocked me to the core.
I knew that guy!.. what was his name?...um..uh...Kaywhong! The dude is literally known world wide!
He is supposed to be one of the richest men in the world as of now! And Evan was smiling and making jokes and entertaining him! And he was holding his posture perfectly!!
Man, I could only wish to be able to do that. Now I understand why he can't let his exhaustion show. He can ABSOLUTELY NOT show any weaknesses in front of this guy. Cuz he would have to do things he doesn't want otherwise. You know how rich people are.
"You could make it up to me by doing thaaat or thaaat" That type of shit.
I quickly moved away from the door when I saw that Evan was heading to exit the room. I could see pearls of sweat form on his forehead and when he finally exited and closed the room behind him he fell to the ground panting heavily.
He didn't look like the person talking to Kaywhong just seconds ago. No. That person looked cheerful and happy and flawless.
This person however, looked like they were about to die on their death bed. He looked purely exhausted and completely drained of power. This man looked nothing like the person talking cheerfully just moments ago.
I quickly ran up to him and placed my hand to his forehead feeling if he had a fever. He was warm but it wasn't alarming. "Evan.. Tell miss Ellie you can no more." I told him seriously.
He started laughing with no amusement whatsoever
"You must be crazy Aaron. Why are you even working here? I don't get it I worked so hard and you can just come here and get hired without even knowing shit... and why do I feel so hot.. ... I am sooo lonely... and I have a whore for a girlfriend that cheated with 20 different dudes-" He broke out crying and came forward and hugged me.
He pressed his body into mine really tightly while sobbing quietly in the crook of my neck.
"My-..my mom is just as much of a whore and my shitting fucking dad was a fucking fucktard with no feelings and he..-- h-he--" "Shhh~.. it's ok..I'm here" I said warmly while soothingly massaging my fingers through his hair.
He snuggled close to me and sobbed quietly.
I felt awful knowing that I actually came here only to bully and tease and make his time at work harder than it already was. He looked so tough on the outside like nothing could break through his barriers, but on the inside he was still just a small suffering soul with no one to talk to and turn to when shit got real.
There is just that sadness and suffocation and depression that is emanating off him. A dark aura that makes anyone shiver under his eyes. A feeling that makes anyone uncomfortable. If looks could kill he would have murdered thousands.
"Evan, Aaron? guys, what are you doing on the damn floor! You got jobs to attend t-.. oh.."
When Evan heard the voice of the very person that got him into this mess he pushed me off and quickly stood up with his head hanging low and with newly dried tears that were visible on his cheeks.
"I-I'm so so sorry!! I will get to work right now! I just took a small break! I'm sorry!!" And with that he rushed off doing whatever he was doing and again. He looked like a different person working like a lunatic in pure chaos.
But there was something bothering me. "Aaron dear, do you want to say something or are you just going to stand there staring at Evan."
I scrunched my nose at the ocean blue eyes that were staring back at me.
"Miss Ellie.. I don't want to sound rude; but if you knew his mental state, why aren't you trying to help him? YOU GAVE HIM THIS JOB KNOWING THAT HE WAS MENTALLY UNSTABLE!"
"You were right, that was kind of rude..." She sighed. "I tried helping him. I even hesitated giving him this job knowing that days like these would come... ... but he insisted.. He is a very determined boy and is very hardworking and.. he just never got the attention of a mother so he is unconsciously looking for it anywhere he can. He just wants to be loved by someone but won't ever admit it. Evan is a very special boy, definitely out of the ordinary and special. I was hoping you could help him because I see the potential in you. You better not disappoint me Aaron, now go and help him before he faints."
That is all she said before entering the guest room and closing the door behind her, successfully ending this conversation.
I didn't expect to get in this deep when I came here..
