Alex pov
"Mr Sam lessons are getting more weird." I muttered as I lazily used my hand to flatten my already disheveled hair.
"Hmm," Nathan said as he laid on his bed doing what God knows on his laptop.
"I'm serious, aren't you noticing something strange in mystery class?"
"Everything has become strange." Nathan said bored.
I raised my eyebrows at him but he ignored me.
"Meaning?" I persisted.
"Meaning everything about this academy is....." He just sighed searching his brain for what to say. "I don't know, I just have this odd feeling. Things seem unusual, different." He said sitting up.
"And your uncle."
He just shook his head.
"Honestly, I don't know anymore and as for him, I don't think there's any change. To me, he had always been like this. He always had this strange and bizarre aura."
I just nodded my head.
"And Deborah death?" I asked quickly as soon as it popped in my brain.
"Well that, isn't that what we are talking about? Her death is still something I'm trying to unearth."
I nodded again.
"I just have this negative feeling about the future. I know it might seem weird or sound crazy but somehow I feel something is going wrong. An unknown problem that my brain desires to uncover."
"You're not the only one bro." Nathan supported.
"Have you talked to Aurora?" I asked suddenly remembering this morning event.
"Not yet." He mumbled.
"Do you think you went too far?"
"I don't know." He mumbled again.
"And Aurora too..." I said trailing off.
Nathan just looked at me like I just finished saying gibberish.
"She has this different energy surrounding her." I continued.
Nathan just shrugged but I knew he understood.
"And her anger. I don't think she was angry at me. I actually felt like she was frustrated about something else." He said looking at me.
It was my turn to shrug.
"Maybe." I muttered.
We both remained quiet and Nathan went back to his laptop. I just looked around trying to push away my thoughts.
A shadow.
My brain told me momentarily.
I wasn't actually sure if I saw one but I kept my eyes on the window.
My brain was right, there, I saw a shadow slowly making it's way to our door.
"Nate." I whispered.
But he didn't look up.
"Nathan." I whispered again
But again, he didn't look up.
I used my leg to roughly kick him, he looked at me and was about to mutter something. I put my hands on my lips asking him to keep quiet. He just narrowed his eyes.
"Look." I said softly as i motioned my head to the door.
He slowly followed my gaze and was confused at first but later it was replaced with curiosity.
It was already night time which meant there's every probability we might not have seen the shadow but I guess the person was not lucky.
We both stood up as Nathan made his way to the door tiptoeing. I also followed him.
Now, I was certain the owner of the shadow which might be a ghost or a human was standing at the front of our door.
Slowly and quietly, Nathan turned the door knob then opened it immediately. Then I saw a hoodie guy, surely the person was a boy or man. He was about to get away seeing that we opened the door unexpectedly.
But he was too late, I grabbed him by his collar and pulled him back. Unfortunately, he was wearing a mask so I couldn't really see his face. He suddenly kicked my knee then got free from my tight grasp. He was about to escape but he was too late, Nathan caught him and roughly used his head to hit the wall.
Looked like the guy got a bit angry. Nathan and the guy started exchanging punch. No doubt, he was a great fighter as he had the upper hand. I quickly stood up then lunged at his face from his side. He was a little taken back that he staggered a little bit but quickly composed himself.
His fist collided with my face but at the second time, I caught his hands and twisted it which made him groan in pain.
But still, he didn't give up.
Since I was paired with Nathan, he was not in a good state.
To cut the long story short, we continued fighting and finally! He surrendered because honestly, I didn't find pleasure in beating this guy up. All I wanted to find was answers.
He raised his hand up in surrender and next, he brought out a well folded paper from his pocket. He handed it to Nathan who opened it while I was busy watching the unknown human who still had his mask on because no matter how I tried to get it off while we were still fighting, it just seemed impossible.
"What the..." Nathan said as he read the later. I quickly glanced down to take a look but that was my mistake.
The unknown person escaped like lightning.
I released a long breath then turned to face Nathan who had a shocked expression on his face.
"What's that?" I asked.
He just passed me the paper.
Dear.... rather, hello Nathan and Alex.
Well, I'm writing this letter to warn you.
Warn you about your dear friend Lizzy, or isn't that what you call her.
You know the saying, your friend now can turn an enemy the next minute.
Honestly, this saying just described your situation.
But the only difference is that she was never your friend.
She has always been the devil who will soon hunt you down. Your blood will become her food because your downfall will bring her satisfaction.
You have two Options.
Either she hunts and kills you.
Or
You do the Killing.
The choice is in your hands.
Do not make a foolish mistake or you'll pay the price.
....... Your protector
No." I uttered as I squeezed the paper.
Deep down, deep deep down, I knew it. I knew this was not a warning but a threat.
Forcing us to be part of something we won't have a choice in.
