Amy flailed as two of the men carried her away. She blinked a few times trying to rid her vision of the blurriness.
"Once we get back to the truck I need one of you to wrap her leg. We can't have her dying of blood loss before we get her too the lab." Major ordered.
"We caught the big one." Mark snickered.
"Yeah, that reward money is going to look so delicious." Bobby laughed.
"I need you two to stay focus. This isn't like hunting deer or birds. This is a whole wolf, she maybe injured now but these fuckers can still put up a fight. We need to stay vigilant." Major ordered as the bunch trekked through the woods. "I still don't know why this one was alone. Just our luck we will have a whole pack at our heels. Let's keep moving."
The three guys nodded as they started to move a little faster. Amy felt her eyelids grow heavy but the shifting of the bushes caught her attention. Her ears perked up and Major noticed this. "Wait...Mark get your gun ready."
Bobby and Mark laid Amy on the ground as Mark slide the strap off of his shotgun and cocked in. Major stood over Amy's body as if protecting his prize. Everything grew silent except for the shifting of the bushes. The wind had picked up and all of the bushes around them were dancing. Amy felt hope swell up in her chest as a familiar scent wafted past her nose.
"Show yourself."
She smirked as Des jumped from the bushes and landed on Marks back. Pushing him too the ground he snapped his teeth around his throat. Mark screamed in pain as blood started to pour onto the ground. Mark flailed violently before Des thrashed his head causing a sickening crack to fill the air. He stood and turned staring at the remaining two men, blood dripping off of his teeth and down his muzzle. He growled in warning as Bobby fumbled to load his own gun. He pointed it at Des but when he pulled the trigger nothing happened. Des lips curled further to show his sharper than normal canines. Bobby turned on his heels and ran.
"What the hell Bobby!"
Des now turned his attention to Major. He looked down at Amy and noticed she was injured and that caused his eyes to narrow further as he barked as Major, "Get off of her."
Major laughed. Amy was confused, unsure if he could understand Des. Major slowly back away from Amy and Des advanced until he was between the two. "Des..." She gasped as she felt lightheaded. With both his hands up as if surrendering, Major backed away until he disappeared into the foliage.
Des then turned his attention to Amy. "What?"
Before he could ask Amy slipped into unconsciousness.

The sound of crackling fire woke Amy. She blinked a few times as she rose her head. Scanning her surroundings she noticed that she was safe and sound in a den. It was warm and cozy, a fire in the center of the den gave of warmth as well as light. She smelled something divine that made her mouth water. She went to stand only for the sharp, throbbing pain in her leg to force her to lay back down. She whimpered and in a instance Des was by her side. He gently nuzzled his head against hers.
"Ssshhh, I'm here." He whispered ever so gently. Something about the tone of his voice made Amy's heart flutter and without realizing it she was nuzzling him back.
Des pulled back, his eyes soft and filled with worry. Clearing his throat he turned his attention to the fire and soon he brought over a stick that had a nicely chard bird on it. Amy began to drool and once he set the food down in front of her she tore into it. In only a few short bites the bird was gone and she was satisfied. Licking her lips she turned her attention to him. "Thank you."
He smiled, "You're welcome."
Something about the tension in the room set Amy's insides ablaze. Ignoring her hormones' she decided to make small talk. "What were those things?"
Des growled, "They are humans. Filthy creatures, usually led by greed." He walked over to her legs and Amy felt her cheeks grow hot. "How is your leg?"
"It still hurts." She winced as he gently pushed it.
"You are going to have to stay off of it until it starts to heal. You will be working it out so it doesn't get stiff."
"But it hurts..."
"Doesn't matter, you need to get better Amulet. By the way if I might ask, what in the ever loving fuck were you doing that far into the grounds. Why didn't you stay closer to pack territories?" He growled at her.
Amy was ready for a fight until she realized, "Wait...where are we?"
"Don't change the subject."
"Change the subject? You must not remember me almost getting killed when we were pups do you!?" She whined as she tried to stand. Des was by her side in an instance and caught her before she fell to her side.
"We aren't on pack grounds you doofus. I'm a lone wolf."
Her eyes widened and it all started to click. He was always alone and only tend to speak to her when she was by herself.
"Why?"
"That's a story for another day. Why were you out so far?"
Amy looked down at her paws in embarrassment. "I was trying to find game to hunt."
"You literally passed three other grounds. I know they weren't all full of hunts because I looked for you there and saw plenty of game to hunt."
Amy frowned, "Speaking of looking for me, why are you always following me? And don't you dare dodge the question."
Des turned his back to her and sighed, "You aren't ready for that conversation."
Amy growled at him as she tried to stand again, "What do you mean I'm not..."
Des growled back, "Sit Down."
The authority in his voice made Amy lay back down. Her eyes were fixed on his as she watched him slowly walk over to her. The anger in his eyes subsided and he looked over to the fire. He grabbed the stick that her bird was once on and threw it into the fire. "I'm going to get you some water." With that Des left the den leaving Amy there alone to stew in her thoughts. The images of what just happened replayed in her head. No he couldn't be...
