Trouble

I heard something faintly in the back of my head. I groggily opened my sleepy eyes and couldn't see where the noise was coming from. When I became more awake though, I registered it as the sound of my alarm. Shit! I was late, my alarm clock was programmed to sound more the longer it had been beeping and I can assure you, that was a loud sound.

I sprang up from my bed, my clothes in my hand, after getting the intense beeping to stop. My heart pumped in my ears when I reached the kitchen, halfway through putting on my trousers.

"Oh, good morning darl-"

"I'm late", I half screamed at my dad who had just woken up and looked annoyingly lively and refreshed while drinking his cup of coffe.

"Oh, jesus! Calm down boy. Oh no, it looks like your brother just left, I can call him back if you want?"

"Uh, no that's fine, is the bike in the garage or outside", i asked him while pushing a sandwich into my mouth. Damn my brother! It was so typical of him to just leave without me just because I was late!

"I think it is outside, you can still make it in time if you go now 'cause the clock's only 07.42."

"Yep, thanks dad."

I didn't have time to brush my teeth, just splash some water on my face, and my hair was litteraly messier than a birds nest, so you could probably tell that it wasn't one of my prettiest days, but I just shrugged to myself after two second in the mirror. Who cares if i look good, I'm late as fucking hell. I grabbed my bag and my jacket and got out with a small goodbye to dad, mom was still asleep.

It was a pretty cold morning and there were drops of water in the grass, which made my sneakers become wet in to the socks. God, I hate getting my socks wet! I silently swore as I swinged myself over dads old bike (there's a reason thet I dont ride this bike to shool) and rolled out on the road.

After 12 minutes I arrived at the school, red nose and cold fingers. It wasn't so wierd that it was cold, the summer was over since long ago and autumn had been sneaking it's way to Greenile and there was no denying it now. I put the bike in one of the holders in front of the school, not bothering to lock it put, that old thing wasn't worth anything.

I ran into the school, the halls already emptied of all students who were in their classrooms. My lone footsteps echoed in the halls as i ran up the stairs, not bothering to put my jacket in my locker. When I reached Mr. Coles, the englishteacher's, classroom I slowed down to catch my breath for two seconds and then opened the door.

"Liam, you finally decided to join us! Any particular reason for this uh... ten minutes absence", he asked while peering down at his wristwatch.

"Uhm, sorry Mr. Cole, uh traffic", I managed to mumble with a blush, trying to ignore the curious stares from the other students.

"Okay, well then. Go take your seat."

I quickly scrambled to the back where Mica sat waiting impatiently on the edge of her seat. I grabbed my seat next to her, took out my notes and a pen and started to fill in what I had missed, even though I could see thet she wanted to tell me something. After a while there was a piece of paper lying in the middle of my desk and it came from Micas direction. I ignored it, wanting to know what it was, but Mr. Cole was one of the teaches who acctually went through with their threats and I didn't want to get scolded two times on one lesson.

After a while Mika threw another note, though and this time my curiousity got the best of me and I opened it.

Why were yo

Have you heard the news?

Mica had obviously stopped caring for the first question in the middle of writing it and just moved on to the important matters. But what were the important matters? I hadn't heard any news except for maybe Lindsey Dehlan having a bit too yellow sweater for her haircolour, which certainly weren't something that Mica would care for.

I mouthed 'No' to her and she just narrowed her eyes at me in disbelief and quickly scribbled down something else on another piece of paper. She then threw the paper to my desk, while I was acting like we weren't doing something suspicious under Mr. Coles hawkeyes. When the teacher looked away i unwrapped the note and it said;

Erik Parrish is back, you know the older brother of your little soulmate, and he it litteraly hotter than ever. I have heard that he has come back to like finish his last year or somethin', all is rumors tho, I haven't seen him yet. Hey, will this like make something wierd for the pack?

Oh no! This cannot be happening! This messes it all up! Erik Parrish is Mikes older brother, but he was away, went away for two years ago never to return. He said that he wanted to see the world of someting like that. Erik Parrish was the real soon to be alpha, but when he went away the title was passed on to Mike and he shouldered it with dignity, oh it must have been so hard for him! I wondered what would happed now because in some packs, if this situation would ever occur, the siblings would fight each other for the title and that woul mean that someone of them would get severely hurt. Although, in the back of my head I knew that the probability of them fighting was very small, our pack was big and respectable and didn't do things as fighting for titles.

I knew Erik Parrish somewhat well, he and Jeremy had been inseperable bestfriends since we all were little. Erik was perfect to handle the pressure of being the next alpha of our pack (not better than Mike though), and he, Jeremy, Mike and I had played for a bit when we were little. Therefor Jeremys and my parents knew the alphafamily well, better than the other familys i the pack, even though Jeremy was a delta and I was only an omega, the weakest wolf there was. Our parents were both deltas.

Mika nudged me with her elbow which pulled me out of my shocked state. She knew about me being a wolf only because of an unfortunate happening in seventh grade that still makes me cringe when I think about it.

"Hey, you okay", she wispered, even though Mr. Cole was there, she was more worried about my wellbeing than getting caught wispering.

"Um, yeah" I answered after a while and motioned to her that I would explain after class.

----

I quickly explained what Erik Parrish's return would mean to the pack and Mika's reaction wasn't even almost as big as when she found out that Erik was even hotter then when he left, this morning.

"Then it is fine, right? Like Erik just takes back his place as the next alpha like Simba freaking kills Scar, and then were good?"

"Well i think so, but I will check with mom and dad to see if the pack has announced something as soon as I come home", answered, a bit grumpy that she would compare my chrush with Scar.

After that we split up to got to different classes, but that didn't bother me this time, because my next class was with Mike. When I got to the classroom I saw him sitting in the middle of the classroom, staring out the window.

"Hi Mike", I happily said to him before taking the empty seat next to his.

"Um, hi" he mumbled back, still looking out the window. Maybe he was troubled because of the news about his brother? I decided to ask him about it.

"Hey, about your brother, how do you feel about it? I mean, him coming back."

"Uhm, it's fine", he was still looking out the window while talking. I supposed he was thinking very hard about Erik and what this would mean for himself. Oh, it must be so hard for him! I didn't want to bother him more but I just wanted to know for how long his brother had been back, so I asked him.

"When did Erik come back, by the way?"

"Saturday." So, three days ago, then.

"Oh, okay."

I sat back to leave Mike to his brooding and was very happy with just watching how the sun shone through his locks, making them light up in a chocolate brown colour. I must have looked like a lovestruck cub, but I didn't care.

I had been crushing on Mike since we were around seven maybe. At that point Jeremy and Erik had been best friends for a long time and Mike and I used to play with them. As we grew older Jeremy and Erik started to play with other kids from our pack and Mike began to spend more time with them. I myself didn't really keep up with the older boys because I was an omega and they were all bigger than me. Or it was just that they... No, they wouldn't leave me behind, at least not knowingly.

These later years I had started to hope that I'd suddenly see that Mike was my mate. Mating was a part of the werewolf thing and every werewolf got a mate. A mate was a person that you would love and cherish for all eternity, one that you were destined to be with. Me, a pretty hopeless romantic, really liked that part of being a werewolf, it was just so amazing that one day you would just wake up and your life would change forever. Suddenly you would have another person to care about, more than you care about your own life. Of course, I was hoping for my mate to be Mike.

The lesson started after a while and Mike wasn't so talkactive, not even when we were supposed to work in pairs. I accepted it and let him be quiet, trying to be kind to him.

After that class though, Mike was quickly out of the classroom and when I got out after all the other students I couldn't see him, so I went to meet up with Mica again.
