I got home from Aoife's house earlier than planned and my dad was out already on the couch. A book in he's hand with he's glasses on and he's laptop on the table in front of him. I looked at him and smiled and thought even if I don't have a guy to myself, I have my dad and my friends. It was then and there it dawned on me that my main reason for leaving was the kiss shared between Zach and the strangely good-looking girl and not just that, it also reminded me of Sly.
My dad heard me shuffle around because just as I was about to climb the stairs to my room he said "Baby, hope no problem. You home early. Did anyone try to hurt you 'cos I'd kill that person".
"No dad" I replied. "I just felt like leaving the party early. And I'd really like to retire to bed".
"Alright baby. Have a sweet sleep".
I woke up the next morning to series of calls and messages from my friends all asking me about yesterday and none from Zach. I don't know if I'd say I felt relieved I went to the party and known about he's girlfriend or the fact that he has a girlfriend in the first place. Anyways I hope I can get through school today and totally escape him.
I hurriedly got out of bed and showered then got dressed and styled my hair into a ponytail. Looking at myself in the mirror I loved who I saw and was proud of who I was becoming. I chided myself silently and reminded myself of my decision of not getting into any relationship with anyone and sealed it up in my head.
I walked across the hall to class with lots on mind which were ranging from how to answer every questions I knew definitely my friends where gonna throw at me concerning the party and also how to avoid having to answer any questions at all from Zach. With thoughts going through my mind, I barely noticed the girls in front of me. All I knew was I bumped into her and was about to start apologizing when I looked at her and felt I had seen her somewhere. Well it didn't matter anymore because with the look she was giving me anyone would burp.
"Hey clumsy, try getting your head out of the cloud and get back down to earth. Life can't be that bad for a little pup like you to start thinking. I know you are one of them Aoife's girls and pretty smart on the cheerleading team but don't get your hopes high love, I run this school" and with that she and her friends stormed by laughing. I wasn't moved by the regular bitchy act because it wasn't new to me. While I stood and watched them as they left it practically fell on me where I knew her from. She was Zach's girl from last night and oh yeah just the thought of that granted me greater momentum to put her in her place. No untrained puss dares walk over Ursula. But while I was about to set her aligned, the alarm went for beginning of class. I walked into class and my friends practically swallowed me with their eyes with the looks of where-the-hell-have-you-been and hope-you-are-fine from the more caring sect of my friends. As soon as I sat I felt like eyes were crawling all over my back and I turned only to be face to face with Zach. Oh God! those eyes. Well I refuse to get distracted.
"Hello beautiful" he teased
"Hi Zach" I replied coldly turning forward
"What happened yesternight, one minute you where by my side and the next you weren't even at your friend's party anymore and you weren't picking your calls or returning your messages" he asked. Wait, did he just say calls and messages, cos last I checked he didn't call or do any of those. But fortunately for both of us, before I could turn to give him a reply, Mr George, the Maths teacher walked in and then I remembered he told me to see him the day of tryouts before leaving school and I totally forgot and skipped.
