A fresh start, Forget the past

PEGAS' POV: (Point Of View)

Sitting in the car with Mom beside me, waiting to reach the following destination, made me anxious. My anxiety was slowly kicking in, and looking out the window wasn't helping. I wasn't outside for a while, I didn't even want to go to the supermarket, and I rarely attended any of my family's events. Mom did all the shopping so that we wouldn't starve to death. The only connection I had with nature was a French door window located above my bed, but it was mostly closed and covered with my favorite red curtains.

We're here, in front of the school. Well, in the parking lot, a place I wanted to be for a while now ... yet I'm glued to the car seat gazing out the window as I watched students in pairs walking towards the entrance of a bright future. Mom switched off the car, although I wish she hadn't, the struggle to jump-start it again was a real beauty. She turned her whole body towards me and said :

" You've been waiting your whole teenage life for this day, and now that you've finally arrived, your only desire is to sit and lurk behind the car doors? "

I rolled my eyes and stared her straight in the eye; they were mixed with curiosity and exhaustion, I wish I could just bring up the confidence to walk out of this carriage with my head held high, but I guess I was missing the dress ... my legs were shaking. I could literally feel my heartbeat in my neck. I didn't want Mom to tag along with me. After all, I was grown and learning to be independent.

" Don't rush me! If I weren't kept hostage for the majority of my life, we wouldn't be in this position !" I said while hopping out of the vehicle and slamming the door shut behind me, which I immediately regretted afterward. Everyone's organs of sight were on me and slightly dilated, I was now the center of attention, Way to start the day.

They were all whispering, and some were laughing. I guess that everyone figured out that I'm the new face of the school. It's at moments like these that I am so grateful to be dark-skinned because the color of my face would be priceless. I glanced at Mom, expecting her to be killing herself with laughter but instead, she was just as humiliated as I was.

UNKNOWN POV:

"[...] KEPT HOSTAGE FOR THE MAJORITY OF MY LIFE WE WOULDN'T BE IN THIS POSITION !"

What's all the commotion? It's like 7 O'Clock in the morning, for heaven's sake! People have started to talk in a distinct tone. You might be surprised by how loud it can get just by several people whispering all at once.

It's a girl! That's slightly shocking. She's quite hostile; it's mostly the males in this school that make a name for themselves by acting the fool, but a girl? Who would have imagined?

Not having looked at her for a semi-second, I already noticed that she's the new chick everyone's been talking about this whole week. No one knew her appearance, though, and to be honest, good looks do not begin to describe her. She doesn't look too bad, although she is very pale, and thinking back on her sentence, I guess she has been homeschooled "#KEPT HOSTAGE#" by whom seems to be her mother.

One of my closest friends nudged me and asked secretly :

" Who is she? Her face doesn't ring a bell. I mean, it's the middle of October. You mean to tell me that this darn school is still accepting students !?"

Always so dramatic,

" It's not the end of the world, Eliizabeth!" I said while rolling my eyes, "one more face won't hurt."

Or can it?

She hasn't even walked on school grounds yet, and now she'll become the talk of the week with maximum attention, haha, some nerve. She's standing in front of us all, with this dumbfounded look plastered onto her face, doesn't seem to know what to do next; I can't watch this anymore.

"Hey! Where the hell are you going? The bell's about to ring, and we have a very significant class coming up! "

Eliizabeth says while all the more trying to pull me back.

She's quite uptight.
