LOGAN'S POINT OF VIEW:
"How do you think he's doing?" I inwardly groaned.
What was with all the voices inside my head?
I shifted my head back and forth.
"I don't know Jean. She did a number on him, that even with his fast healing process; it's taking a toll on his body."
"I hope he's gonna be okay." Jean muttered.
"I'm sure he'll be fine. Now, we have a new student to teach."
"When will Logan wake up?" She asked, as they walked towards the door.
Good, now they could let me rest in peace.
"Probably within the next few minutes. Come. We had students to teach." The door slid shut behind them.
I groaned loudly and cracked open my eyelids. I blinked.
How long had I been out?
I rubbed my swollen head. Hmm, apparently not all injuries can be healed.
I scoffed merely at that and sat up. I shook my head and hair bounced in my face. I growled and threw my head back and stood up, slinging my legs over the edge of the white bed. I stood up and the room sort of spun. "Ugh..." I went to fall if somebody hadn't caught me...snarling my claws came out and I went to strike.
"Whoa!" The girl held up her hands, backing away from me.
"Yeah, good choice bub." I snarled. She narrowed her eyes and held her hands out. Squinting I circled her like a predator with his prey. "What did you do bub?"
"I have no clue what you are talking about, Weapon X." She blinked, not moving at all.
I snarled, "Don't call me that!"
"What? Weapon X? But, that's your name..."
"No!" I snarled and went to strike, but she still hadn't moved. "What? You're not going to fight me?" I asked harshly. Waiting for her to strike against me...which she didn't.
She simply folded her arms across her chest, and pouted? "Unfortunately...I can't."
"What do you mean you can't?" I snarled at her.
She narrowed her eyes at me, but still wouldn't do anything. "I can't. Because I'd be breaking the rules." She said, raising an eyebrow, as if I didn't know.
I scoffed and snarled again, inching closer. "What rules?" I asked, really starting to get a little confused. I narrowed my eyes and still circled her; she was watching me always out of the corner of her eye.
"As if you didn't know."
"No, actually. I don't." I mumbled underneath my breath.
"The rules...for staying here?" She started to question. But, I didn't think, I acted. I pounced on her, catching her off guard. She shrieked, and I snarled and lashed at her face. This time though, she let out a piercing scream. Not defending herself whatsoever. So, it made me mad. I lashed at her again and I realized that red sticky stuff was sliding itself down my hands and claws.
I looked down, breathing hard and gasped. I crawled back away from her. I took in deep ragged breaths. I couldn't believe it. I blinked and stood up on shaking legs. She was crying and holding her face where gashes lined her forehead and one slit across her right eye.
Where the scars on her forehead would heal, eventually, well...as to say for the gash on her eye? Not so much. She was clutching her face and groaning in pain. She was sobbing uncontrollably. Retracting my claws, I fell to my knees and crawled towards her.
She whimpered. "Stay away from me." She whispered hoarsely.
"I'm...I'm..."
"No." She whispered hoarsely, slowly scooting towards the door in the opposite direction from where I was on the floor beside her. "Stay away from me."
"I'm sorry..." Was all I could say.
"No your not." She was still eyeing me hard. "You wanted me to be hurt. You threatened me. Charles Xavier wouldn't like that."
"Huh?" I blinked and suddenly she was standing or floating in midair, with no gashes on her head and eye, no sign of blood on her face or on the floor. I glanced down at my hands. Nor was blood on my hands.
"It was...just a dream? A hallucination?" I kept blinking and scratching my head. "But I thought..." I started to say.
What had I thought?
The girl crossed her arms. She glared at me. "Still wanna fight me Weapon X?"
I snarled at her and my claws came out. "Why'd you do a hallucination on me?"
Narrowing her eyes, she shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know." She bit her lip like she was deep in thought. "Guess I wanted to know if you hated me."
"Clearly." I growled. She squinted but made no move to leave...yet. "You found your answer...now leave." Raising an eyebrow she gave me a funny look. "What?" I snarled, waving my claws around. "Don't think just because I tried to kill you in the hallucination doesn't mean that I won't kill you now."
I went to step forward, but the door opened behind the girl, and Charles rolled in. I retracted my claws immediately. I would never dare in my life, hurt my only friend...since I became a mutant that is.
"Logan, I'm afraid you mustn't harm her." He stated, folding his hands in his lap.
"What?" I snarled in his face. Stalking towards him and the girl, she moved back, but more so behind Charles. That was something that I wasn't expecting.
"I told you." She said, eyeing him behind his back. "I told you he would kill me the instant I said something." She glared at me, hard. I wasn't used to a girl's stone cold look, but I definitely noticed it.
"Charles, mind telling me what's going on?" I threw my hands up in the air.
Charles thought for a second then motioned for the girl to step forward, towards me. "Logan, this is Francesca. She's our newest student here at the institute. Perhaps you could show her to class?"
"I don't think so bub." I folded my arms across my chest. Francesca glared at me but said nothing.
"Logan," Charles was eyeing me hard.
I sighed heavily, "How do we know that we can trust her? I mean, look at what she did to me!"
She looked at the professor. "But, I didn't mean to do it." She said and looked towards me. Blinking her pretty little eyes at me...
Wait, did I just say pretty? Not good.
I shook my head and clear any thoughts of her.
"You sure? Because it hurt like hell from here, bub." I grumbled.
"No! You threatened me!" She said loudly.
I raised an eyebrow. "You came into our home. Breaking and entering then you knock me unconscious you don't call that being threatened much?" I snarled at her.
She snapped at me back. "Of course! How else was I supposed to come in?"
"Umm, try using the front door?" I suggested sarcastically. She growled at me, which I wasn't expecting from a girl...whatever the heck she was. She raised a hand to strike me, but didn't do anything. She merely talked.
"Look, I'm sorry if I hurt you. You threatened me. So, I defended. Like when I said you were called 'Weapon X', you immediately defended your title."
Now that you mention it, she did have a point there...almost.
"Well, now I was doing the same thing." Francesca stated, never taking her eyes off of me.
"So what? You think I care that you were defending yourself?" I snorted, "Not likely."
"Logan, please." I glanced down at Charles. "Francesca is trying to settle in. Whatever thing you two had in your pasts, you need to put that behind you...now, in order to progress to the future." Charles turned his wheelchair around and scooted out of the room.
The door had closed softly and Francesca hadn't moved an inch. I glanced at the door and pointed my head towards it. "You do that?"
"Yeah, so? You gonna make fun of me for using my powers?" She snarled.
I held up my hands in the air. "Nah, no need to do that. I was just asking."
"Fine."
"Fine." I shrugged my shoulders.
"Fine!" She snapped and gusts of wind slammed open the door, to the lab room. She narrowed her eyes and said in a cold voice, "Stay away from me, if you know what's good for you." She turned and walked bristly out of the room.
I mumbled underneath my breath, "Don't count on it."
