What would be your reaction if one day you wake up and find yourself in a completely different era, a completely different country and in the body of a person who looked just like you??
Alexis's life was going pretty normally until she finds herself transmigrated to the body of a girl who looked just like her and most importantly, the girl seemed to live a thousand years ago.
And as if waking up as someone else was not enough, she finds herself betrothed to a man of whom she knew nothing. But his hazel eyes kept drawing her close to him and always seemed to offer a sense of familiarity.

While looking around the next few days, she realizes that the place she seemed to have been transmigrated into was not as serene as it looked.  
A seemingly peaceful place was going to be the victim of one of the most treacherous schemes made by one greedy and vengeful man.
But it seemed like this was just the tip of the ice berg. 
Days after her wedding, she finds that her biological father is working as the right hand man of this man and is helping him conspire against the royal family.

"The first clause states that no physical contact will be allowed without the consent of the other person, unless there is a life threatening situation.", she read out the first clause.
"I agree.", the man replied calmly.
Few weeks later.
"Mo Ting Xiao!! What are you doing??!", Alexis yelled in shock as she found herself pinned on the wall.
"Kissing my wife...", the man replied nonchalantly as he placed soft kisses on her slender neck.
"You are breaching the contract!!"
"The contract states that a life threatening situation is the exception. And now my heart his going to explode because of your beauty... So let me kiss you to save my life, wifey!!"
With that said, without even giving her a chance to retort, he sealed her lips with his own.
"...."
Was this the same man who would turn red on being complemented by her. Since when did he become this shameless?? How come she never noticed it??
And before she knew it, she was kissing him back with the same intensity.

It was almost dark by the time Mo Ting Xiao returned. When they stepped down from their horses, they noticed the entire palace was shrouded in darkness and eerie silence .


" Why is it so dark??? Did all of them runaway or something???", Li Sing Tan asked while climbing the stairs to the entrance with Mo Ting Xiao and Liu Chen.


The second they stepped in, the entire palace was suddenly lit. The sight before them made them flabbergasted.


The entire courtyard was decorated with beautiful flowers, garlands and red lanterns. Red candles were lit along the walls and soft scented incense was burning.


A path made of the pink leaves from the Chinese Cedar tree moved towards the inner courtyard. Right at the middle, there was a beautiful spread of delicacies waiting to be eaten.


Beside the table stood Lu Chang Chang, with a bright smile on her face. She was wearing a light pink hanfu. Only a portion of her long black hair was held by a beautiful Jade hairpin. The rest of her jet black hair flowed down till her waist.


All the servants were standing around the courtyard with smiles on their faces.


Right after Mo Ting Xiao left for the Emperor's palace, the entire palace got into action. Servants were running from one corner to another, rushing to complete their task as soon as possible.


Garlands had to be hung, flowers designed, candles arranged…. A lot of work with very little time to complete.


The previous night, Lu Chang Chang had called all the servants for an emergency meeting. She asked them to not wish Mo Ting Xiao the entire day so that he wouldn't suspect their plans.


Just as planned, none of them wished him in the morning. Only Li Sing Tan and Liu Chen, who were not informed, wished him.


The lanterns she had ordered arrived by morning. She had it hidden till Mo Ting Xiao left. Few servants got together and hung the twenty seven red lanterns around the courtyard.


Lu Chang Chang  decided to add a modern twist to their dinner. She decided to make a cake for his birthday.


But being the terrible cook she was and the ancient time she was living in, it only made things worse. After hours of hard work, she managed to bake a cake.


By the time she stepped out of the kitchen, she was covered in flour and exhausted as hell. But it was all worth it nevertheless.


After hours of hard work, everything was set up perfectly.


Lu Chang Chang had already assigned a messenger to inform her the minute Mo Ting Xiao stepped out of the palace.


Now all they had to do was wait for him to arrive.


Mo Ting Xiao felt butterflies in his stomach looking at how beautifully the palace was decorated and how enchanting she looked.


His birthday wasn't forgotten by her after all…


" HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!...", everybody started singing while clapping. Even Liu Chen and Li Sing Tan joined them.


Mo Ting Xiao was just looking at Lu Chang Chang with a handsome smile.


Slowly, he started walking along the floral path towards Lu Chang Chang. Everybody stopped singing when he neared her.
