Hungover

Juliet closed the phone without replying after she had read the last message that Richard had sent her. She didn't mind him messaging her to remind her that she needed to make sure to keep her upcoming weekend free. She hardly did anything on the weekend unless it was work related so that didn't bother. The teasing however she didn't need, especially with the current hangover she was suffering from.

She had known it was going to be a bad idea to stay and drink with Maria. Her friend didn't have much self-control when it came to limiting how much she drank and that somehow bled over into her being able to convince Juliet to not worry about drinking too much either. The end result of that was never pretty, yet the red head had yet to learn how to properly say no to her friend and stick with it.

She groaned as she sat up, her head and stomach objected, but she knew that she had stuff to do today. When she had initially woke up, she had forgotten where was or what had happened the night before and had a momentary panic attack when at first the last thing that she could remember was being at the club. Once she calmed down though, she was able to remember that she had gone and stayed with Maria to talk and have a few drinks.

"Few drinks my butt." she muttered to herself as she put her hand above her eyes as a shield from the sunlight that was seeping through the living room window. This was going to be the last time that she let her friend convince her to do something like this while she was on a job.

She grimaced when she swallowed and a bitter taste entered her mouth leftover from the alcohol that she had drank the night before. At least her friend had an extra tooth brush set aside for her for times like these. Maria wasn't anywhere in sight which Juliet surmised most likely meant she would find in the bathroom taking a long hot shower to try and make herself feel more human. Unlike her friend, she was going to have to wait until she was back home to take a proper shower.

Juliet had been right about where Maria was. As she got closer to the bathroom that was located in a hall next to the master bedroom in her friends apartment, she could hear the sound of the shower running inside.

She then began to wonder how long her friend had been inside the shower when she opened the bathroom door and was greeted by a large burst of steam escaping the bathroom. Peeking inside, she saw that everything was covered in a thick layer of condensation from the steam coming off the shower.

"Are you trying to turn this place into a sauna?" She called out to her friend as she walked over to the sink and opened the mini cupboard that was attached to the right side of the wall. Maria answered her question some type of unintelligible reply as she was currently washing her hair and couldn't reply properly with the water rolling over her face.

"I find warm showers such as these help me to recover better from a hangover." She repeated as she stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around her waist and another around her hair.

"I'll never understand how you can handle such hot water with a hangover headache, it always makes mine worse." Juliet shook her head, taking a paper cup, she filled it with water and rinsed her mouth out. It helped her to feel slightly better but she was still going to need a painkiller or two and a gallon of water before she would feel completely better.

"Probably because I'm not as hot blooded as you so the warm water only affects me at a normal level." She replied with a shrug and a teasing smile.

"Ha, ha. My temper isn't as bad as it used to be. Anymore, I only lose it when it's justified when I am dealing with certain people." Juliet replied as she washed her face.

"Well some of those people are ones it sounds like you're just going to have to learn how to work with. Who knows, maybe it'll have a good influence on you and help you to learn how to better navigate some situations."

"I doubt that will happen." her friend huffed back. "Besides, those people have little to offer that I need to learn from since I'm not interested in being conceited and condescending."

"Not all of them are like that. They might come across that way, but I'm sure underneath some of them aren't as bad as they appear on the outside." Maria reasoned as she slipped on her work pants and moved over to the sink so that she could focus on sorting out her hair before she put her work shirt on. She needed to blow dry it enough to get rid of the excess water otherwise she would end up with a damp shirt.

"That's debatable." Juliet replied as she moved out of the way so that her friend could have access to everything that she needed to. "Do you mind if I am stay here for the first part of the day to work and leave after I feel better?" Maria gave her a look and s he held her hands up in a mock defensive manners.

"I know you would say that it isn't a problem, but I prefer to ask rather than just assume. You might have work today, but I don't know what else you have planned around that." She replied.

"I don't have anything planned today that would prevent you from being able to stay here. You know where everything is located so feel free to steal something for breakfast if you get hungry."

"I'll pay you back for it later." She told her friend as she followed her out of the bathroom as she moved back in the main house to find her own set of keys and make sure that she had everything else that she needed. Maria had already taken a painkiller for her hangover so even though she was still feeling unwell, it took enough of the edge off so that she knew she would be able to present a professional enough of an image until she felt better.

"Don't worry, you can pay me back one of these weekends by going to a club with me. I have the perfect one in mind I think you might find more interesting after our conversation last night and you start this new job of yours." Maria replied waving her friend off as she came over and gave her a hug.

"Our conversation last night?" Juliet asked confused as he looked at her friend who grinned.

"You probably don't remember it, you had more to drink than me after all. Don't worry though, it wasn't anything bad. You'll probably remember it later while you're working on other stuff. I gotta go now though." Maria told her friend as she glanced at her watch and hurried out the door. She didn't want to end up being late.

Juliet pouted as she wanted to ask her what she had been talking about since she had no recollection of much of their conversation, but she wasn't going to make her late for work so she'd have to wait until later to grill her about it if she didn't remember.

She looked over at her phone that she had left on the table. She needed to use it for work, but she wasn't going to reply to Richard until a much later time. Her hangover was still bad and she didn't have the mind to deal with this teasing if he wasn't going to be understanding of her situation.
