"Ryu hasn't even looked at me ever since yesterday's happenings. I wonder if he's mad." Lyra sighed, keeping a palm to her face.
"It's not just him who's mad. So I don't really blame him." Devin stretched out on the chair, looking at the time on his phone.
"Not you too Devin. Please understand me!" Lyra pleaded with her eyes, leaning her head to a side of the comfy couch.
"You lose nothing Lyra. But Ryu and I will have to face your father if anything happens to you… because of your stupid dreams. Mr Sheng isn't a sweet man like the media says. You know it better than all of us." As soon as he said that, the room fell silent. Through the messy long bangs over Lyra's face, he could see a glint of anger in her pitch black eyes.
"Stupid? You boys don't understand what it means to want something so much. Something you might never have." Lyra stood up from her couch and pointed towards the door.
"Oh god Lyra, you take things too seriously. I said it because I care for you! We all do. Acting isn't a choice at the moment. You know how there are people who target you just like yesterday. It's not that simple!" Devin said hysterically.
"And you can make a whole ass dating profile, go out and have fun when there are million dollar mafia goons after you! Devin you sly fox! You make my head hurt! Out!"
"Unlike you I do things carefully without being caught!" Devin winked and the next second, he was standing out of the room, shoulders dropped. He then looked at the time. 5 minutes till ten? He had a place to be! He kept gazing at his phone, especially at the picture of a certain young lady. Just as he passed through the stairs he ran into someone, hitting head first. He groaned in pain and then gently massaged his forehead. It was Ryu.
"Devin. I was looking for you. We've got a footage of the man who escaped yest-"
"Ryu! " Devin exclaimed all of a sudden which seemed to surprise the latter. Ryu stood silently as he saw how Devin scratched his head and then bent down, his fingers shyly aiming for the phone which had fallen on the floor. But Ryu saw it and took it right into his hand.
"Sorry I didn't notice you were holding your phone" Ryu said so, smirking as he played with it in his hand. Devin panicked from the inside wondering what to do. It was stated clear that the members within the gang weren't allowed to see any outsiders. But Devin was too shy to disclose his dating life to anyone yet, even Ryu who was like a brother to him. Ryu almost caught a little glance of the girl and he could tell she was rather ordinary. But Devin quickly snatched the phone from his hands, zipping his mouth shut. Ryu's eyes widened but Devin was unable to read his expressions through the mask.
"Woah Ryu! It's nothing alright! "
"What's with the cocky attitude Devin…?" Ryu faked a smile, walking towards him as he slowly tilted his head. Devin was trying his best to not give up as he put on a bold face.
"If you'll excuse me, I have an important person to meet. " Devin pushed through.
"More important than me? Fine, understandable."
"Ryu, oh god not now. " Devin sighed seeing how Ryu dramatically waved him away and walked right past Lyra's room.
"Take me out on your little date later. " Devin heard Ryu shout from the other end of the floor as he began walking down, trying hard to maintain a straight face. Ryu was acting like his rich bratty self again after quite a long time. When they were young, he used to tease Devin that he'd never be able to pull a girl. Not that Ryu could... Devin scoffed. He had expected Ryu to change after months of not seeing each other but here he was. The same old entitled, immature jerk that he was…
After stepping out of the mansion, Devin left a deep breath. He looked at the time again. Only 5 more minutes left. It was true that they were inseparable when they were little. They were each other's right hands and Old Mr Sheng loved them more than enough… But now, Devin, even though he looked fine from the outside seemed to be bothered about something. A problem that had no name for now. It seemed to be there every time someone mentioned the name Ryu Sheng.
The giant clock hung up over a yellow textured wall of the city cafe struck 10. She was sitting all alone in a corner, fixing her hair repeatedly. A lot of questions jumbled through her mind seeing the picture of the handsome young brown haired man on her phone. How could someone be so pretty and look serious at the same time? Suddenly the door clicked open with a ring sound and her attention went towards the astonishing male. He basically barged in but so elegantly that Darah forgot everything she had prepared in her mind. She was going to embarrass herself super bad. She could feel it.
'Stop being a whiny bitch.' She mentally prepared herself.
The man looked around carefully and the moment he met her shy eyes, he smiled and gave a happy wave. Darah froze, gulping. She hadn't experienced male contact for so long. He walked towards her, standing tall. Pulling out his hand for a shake he smiled.
"Hello Darah Chen. Glad to see you." He smiled.
Darah was wrong. His voice was deeper than she expected. And for this very reason, she fell blank.
