Ryu was in deep thought. Darah felt her cheeks burn red because it looked like he was staring deep into her soul. There was nothing to see there!
"Uhm.." She spoke and Ryu finally came to his senses. He was unknowingly staring at her in thoughts about her phone.
"Oh! My apologies, I didn't realise I was staring at you. It was just that… I don't remember seeing a phone on the scene. My men did do a good search all around and disposed off everything quickly but-"
Darah was flabbergasted. He was talking about killing people as some waste disposal system. Was this whole group crazy or just a bunch of cold blooded murderers? Did he not feel a tinge of guilt for what he did Yesterday? But then again, they did kind of deserve it... Darah's gaze went straight to his eyes as he was now looking at his lap. He was still young and certainly couldn't be this dead inside. She couldn't see it in his gaze which was now so full of warmth. She then noticed the bold black tattoo that ran down his left eye… It seemed like it was covering up a minor scar there.
"Miss Darah?" He called out seeing her lost in thoughts.
"Ah yes!" She squeaked. She didn't realize she was staring at him for so long.
"I realized a big flaw from my part. Since you were unconscious and I wasn't in the mind to interrogate Lyra regarding the matter, I left out the details regarding what happened that day." From the look in her eyes, Ryu knew she was recalling the incident where she saw him murder someone. He ignored the look as if it wasn't a big deal. Darah couldn't escape even if she wanted to… She was going to be stuck here till he decided to let go.
"So Darah, I hope I can call you that. Let me be precise with you. We aren't regular people, just like you saw yesterday night. We have some business going on in the sides. Some idiots love to target us frequently and as a result, we are left with no option other than to get rid of them. But you don't have to be in fear because you've done a great deed for Lyra and we owe you for it. You're important to us." Ryu smiled and Darah felt her heart race ahead of time. This wasn't how killers behaved! They were supposed to be cold and heartless!!! But it seemed he cared a lot for this Lyra.
"O-Ok." Darah whispered. Hmm… Easy, Ryu thought. Maybe she won't be as dangerous as he expected. But trusting a stranger wasn't too great either.
"How many men did you see last night." Ryu leaned sideways to the headboard and narrowed his eyes at her. Darah began to count in her head. But then when she realised her head wasn't working as good, she pulled out her fingers. Ryu watched with amusement… Wow. She's great at Maths I guess. At first she pulled out six and it left him in a worry. There was no way they were six. It had to be five.
"Six!" She said enthusiastically but with a serious face like a child solving a tough equation. Ryu internally sighed but kept his face straight.
"No. There has to be only five. You hurt your head so I can understand."
What!? Is he poking fun of me? He wanted to clear his doubts and now that she said the truth he still wasn't believing her! Darah fumed in anger but composed herself.
"Mister! I think you've got it wrong! Trust me I saw 6 men over there! Oh and one of them and he was the nastiest, was an old man!"
When she said old man, Ryu lost the light on his face. He has heard of this old man quite before. Why couldn't they catch him!
"What Old man?" Ryu looked at her alarmingly. It looked like he had gone back to his real self. He recalled everyone they killed. They all looked in their twenties. Darah became silent. She saw him pulling out his phone and calling someone.
"Luca. Do you recall seeing any phone on the scene last night? Anywhere?"
"No Sir. I checked thoroughly not leaving any trace behind. I'm sure we found no phones."
Ryu put a palm to his face and cut the call. After putting his phone back into the pocket, he looked at Darah who was gazing at him with puppy eyes.
"Darah. I think the old man you were talking about escaped with your phone. In short, he's set his eyes on you next."
Darah was already feeling her whole body ache for this long but now her poor heart was also aching. What mess had she gotten herself into!? It's all that pretty lady's fault for luring her with her loud voice in the middle of the night!
"I should call the police!" Darah squealed out because this was a matter of her life. But suddenly her eyes went wide in shock as a black, shiny object was aimed right at her head. Yep, Ryu Sheng was definitely allergic to the police. He hated the very word itself.
"Either you listen to me… Or choose to die. What do you say?" His black emotionless orbs demanded her.
Darah was sweating, her heart almost jumping out of her chest. What was wrong with this crazy man! One second he's nice and the next he's about to kill someone. She felt like she couldn't breathe and at the same time, a stinging pain shot through her arm which was wounded.
Ryu saw the difficulty and slowly lowered his gun. He saw her clutching her hand carefully over her wound as she cried silently… He couldn't deny that it made him feel helpless seeing that.
"Darah…" He called out softly and went to her side. Darah felt like something was stabbing through her wound again at the moment but then she froze when Ryu Sheng held her softly by her waist and pulled her away from the headboard. He was dead silent as he helped place her light head over the pillow. He noticed her teary eyes staring at him in sadness, wondering what she had done wrong. He ignored it and averted his gaze as he pulled back.
"When can I leave?" Darah was awfully curious… Will she ever be able to get out of here? Or was he going to keep her hostage till he decides to kill her...
Ryu gave no answer but popped a painkiller from one of the packets and poured water in a glass. He approached her, muttering a low "Here". Now she wasn't sure whether to take it or not. Seeing her hesitate, he kept it on the bedside table and stepped back.
"Have it if the pain doesn't stop." It won't stop the pain in her heart will it? Darah despised looking at him now. Ryu saw how she kept her arm above her eyes as tears silently trickled down her cheeks. Without another word, he left the room, shutting the door behind him.
