Olivia wasn't your classic town girl. She always helped out at her foster home, went to the fields and worked there, earned money doing miscellaneous work, she was kind, beautiful, a young girl of age twelve. Behind that delicate frame was the sad tale of an orphan who lost her parents in front of her eyes, dying in the hands of magical beasts in the forest. She lived at an orphanage from the age of eight, trying her best to fit in. Every day, she went about a monotone routine of helping others and trying to survive on her own. However, she was unaware that this day was a life changer. She started the day normally, watering the flowers, cleaning the orphanage, and went to the church before going to the farms. There she saw him, Aeger.
Aeger was standing at a corner praying to a nameless goddess. In a church, normally, people would pray to God, or one of the other major deities. But for someone to pray to a nameless goddess was rare. Aeger was standing there with his eyes closed, muttering a few chants. The surprise for those around him was the way the statue reacted. The statue's eyes, which were always closed, were open and had a brightness like never before. These churches were a gift from God, they were sanctuaries where fights were forbidden. They were the blessings of God which allowed you to miraculously recover from a disease. In a place like this, any omen, any sign could not be disregarded.
For someone to incite a blessing from a goddess meant that the priest had to come down to take a look. As the commotion increased, Aeger slowly awakened from his prayers. First, he glanced at Olivia. She was a talent indeed. She would be classified as a blue talent, but the tampering of the orb may have stopped her.
Olivia could not believe her eyes. A man disappeared in a blink of an eye. This was something only those fabled cultivators could do. She rubbed her eyes to confirm the incident, and ran out, probably hoping to meet him. She searched every street near the church, and just as she gave up hope, she saw him enter the town inn. Olivia entered the inn, and as she was acquainted with most of the town, she talked her way into getting the room number of the mysterious man. When she approached the room, she was excited, scared, with a rush of adrenaline.
Aeger looked at the door as he was resting. He could sense that there was a person eager to meet him, and without any malicious intent. He shouted, "The door is open". Olivia was taken aback.
