Do normies really go on adventures?

I got off from the cart rubbing my butt. Well, this supposedly cozy ride was rocky for me, but Clair seems to be completely fine.

Someday, I will make luxury carts if possible. What? Don't doubt my talents. I have read so many scriptures where main characters can do stuff like this as if it is normal for high school dudes to be able to accomplish them. If they can do it so can I.

Clair paid the cart driver some compensation money.

We have been sleeping outside the forest for last night until a wagon arrived at dawn. He boarded it to reach this place unknown to be but known to her. What? I am not a kid, it is not like following strange places is dangerous for me.

Although I say we slept last night it was only her, I could hardly get any sleep because of the stinking smell.

The wagon owner accepted the money and entered the city gates with his goods. We followed behind him with slow steps.

However, the guards in front of the city stopped us in our tracks.

Clair produced some papers from within her bag owing to which they let us enter the city.

Strange. I have read many scriptures and in these, the main character is always allowed to enter the beginning town without any documents whatsoever.

There are usually clitch phrases like- 'Oh, you don't have identification papers? Then go inside the city and register at the adventurers guild.'

Yet these people pried for identification from me.

Sigh

Sometimes I doubt whether this is the world I was supposed to reincarnate.

While I was lost in thought...

"Shh, Steve listen to me" Clair whispered.

"Yes?"

"In the city don't disclose to anyone that you are a summoned beast. In fact, avoid conversing with strangers altogether and leave the introduction and talking to me. We can't afford to attract unnecessary attention."

"Okay?"

I didn't think much about why she wants to do that. I will leave the things like this to her. I believe that I can trust her... or at least that's what I want to believe.

"For now, we need to find a place to stay and a stable income source. Maybe I can find work somewhere as a poster girl or something. I am pretty confident in my capabilities as a maid"

She turned her head to an inn.

She probably thought of applying for a job there.

However, the place was dirty and unhygienic. I don't think working there for her would be a good idea.

"Is there someplace I can find a job? I am pretty much uninitiated with this city and it would be great if you could help me out"

"Of course, no problem. With your strength, you will be a valuable asset to the city and you will get a job easily if you want to. However, in case you don't want to attract attention, it is better to do small jobs hiding your skills"

Yeah, I pretty much want to live a bit leisurely as of now and explore the world for what it has to offer.

"Yeah, it would be better to stay low key for now"

Clair nodded.

After that Clair took me to what seemed like the adventurer's guild.

Although outside of it the sign "Normies not allowed" was hanged.

When I saw that sign question marks appeared on my face. But I decided to leave prying on signs as of now.

"Well, I will leave it onto you from here on," Clair said, "The people in there won't take in a good light if someone like me accompanies you inside."

"Huh?"

Is that what the sign meant? I don't care.

I shrugged and walked inside pushing open the door. A foul stench entered my nose. Just as I thought I had got rid of the stinky Clair fate led me to other people who equally stink.

Leaving the accountants at the center of the guild aside all of the others wore burly clothing and had weapons hanging from their waist. They laughed like madmen as they gulped their beer. Their born soaked in beer and their clothes endowed with a foul smell.

Are all adventurers like this? Where are the ikemen and hot ladies that the main characters met in this kind of guild?

Maybe I am overthinking or maybe I have a sensitive nose.

On second thought these are hunters, are they not? So such a demeanor of theirs is justified.

I walked up to one of the accountants.

A dude with a nerdy atmosphere.

"Excuse me, I want to register in the guild."

The nerd scanned me from head to toe.

"Do you have a girlfriend?" he asked

"No?" I replied in confusion.

"Do you have a wife?"

"No, but why are you asking such questions?"

"Do you masturbate?"

"NO!"

"Then I am sorry sir we cannot let you join our guild"

"Why not? For not having a girlfriend?"

"For not masturbating" he replied.

"What the hell?"

I slapped my face in annoyance. Should I kill this dude? Yes, I should kill him.

I stretched out my hands to hold him by the collar but in the way, they felt a strange resistance.

The chain that the man was wearing shone in a viridescent light.

'I see, magic barrier again'

Punching the barrier with all my might I shattered it to places.

*Chunk*

The nerdy guy's mouth was left agape.

I didn't notice it then but everyone's attention was somehow focused on me now.

Taking him by the collar I lifted him.

"Is this some kind of prank you guys are playing on me?"

The other accountants rushed to the scene. All of them had heard the shattering of the barrier a moment ago.

"We humbly apologize for his actions, sir. But we were just following the actions of the guild master"

He continued further.

"However we have now realized that your matter cannot be handled by us alone. We will call the guild master to attend to you"
