The Escape

She quickly looks up from her phone and answers without trying to sound nervous,

"He's where we need him to be. I'll try to intoxicate him when he comes out… Do you have what you need?"

"The memory loss serum. I left it in the car. I'll get it now…"

Jane: You need to leave now!

Joe quietly walks towards the front of the club, now hiding around the corner, checking the area where he parked. As he's about to make a run for the car, Danny flees out of the club. Joe suddenly backs up making enough noise for Danny to turn around to see who it is. The long silence initiates a tension that Joe and Dan felt during their previous conversation. It was at that point, that they both knew who was who. Joe has no other choice but to make a run for it and so he speeds into the forest while Danny runs back inside of the club calling out to everyone, "He's on the move again! Lets go!"

Everyone runs out of the club, " He went that way!" Danny's shout scares Joe when he heard it from a distance.

It's cold, but the adrenaline distracts him from that and is more fear driven to make it out. Running through the forest gives him a glimpse of a reminder that he's probably done this before. He doesn't have time to think whether it's completely true or not, so he continues to focus on what matters. Escaping.

A far cry he hears, "You won't get away! You never do Joey boy!" triggers the previous times when they'd made fun of him on trying to run away. When the memories start rushing back in, not paying attention, he trips over a log. He finally remembers why he ended up with the bruises and cuts on his body. It's from him tripping over this log and cutting himself from the thorns. He doesn't have time to think about this as he hears everyone crying out his name.

He gets back up and starts to run towards what looked like a familiar area. As he makes it out to the open area he finally realizes where he's at,"Mountain Creek ?" He stops to pant.

"Ding Ding Ding." Danny says as everyone comes in to circle around Joe.

"What is going on?! Who are you people?!"

Everyone takes they're masks off, revealing to him that these are all of his co-workers.

"Everyday you've put us through hell, so without your knowledge that's what we've been doing to you every year on Halloween. Thought it would be our annual stress-reliever." Danny signals to bring out the contract and the lady that was on the couch.

"We've been waiting for years for this paper to come in so you can finally sign over your postion to me. Nobody wants you here anymore as manager so why won't you just give up already?"

"Danny how could you?"

"Don't be surprised. You've been mistreating us since day one."

"You're absolutely insane. You have no idea what it's like being a manager. I've been busting my a** to build all of your ungrateful bastards work ethics to be the best for this company. Competition is unfortunately prominent when it comes to the business world and other companies are being ruthless! If anything this was tough love for the better and if you can't handle that then leave."

"How about you leave?" Jane finishes smoking her cigar then continues to say, "We'll manage." finishing off with a grimace smile.

"You can't force me..."

"Oh we will." Danny takes the bag over the ladies head to reveal the maid.

"What?! How did you...what are you going to do to her? She has nothing to do with this."

"Exactly my point. Take your chance."

Danny says, "Oh don't we all like this part?" when he see Joe take out his phone to call 911. Theres no service, Joe looks up at everyone laughing, "I thought you were smarter than that." Danny says while walking up to the maid with a knife in his hand.

"Don't-"

"Don't you dare touch her or else!" Everyone mocks.

"It's funny every time because you really have no where to go and you know it. If you don't sign the paper, we wouldn't hesitate to set you up to make it look like you killed her and we wouldn't want to go there."

"Out of all people, I would've never thought you'd be the one."

Danny takes the pen out of his shirt pocket and hands it to Joe. He pauses for a moment then finally takes it. Afters signing his signature, Danny snaps his fingers and someone behind steps forward to knock out Joe. They inject the memory loss serum and everyone goes back to the party to celebrate while Joe and the maid are laid next to each other on the couch.
