Acquainted

Del was minding his own business on the field, holding himself in a plank position. Some sweat had begun forming on his forehead. He heard some stomping slowly but surely approaching him, so he allowed himself to release from the position and take a deep breath. He started to stand up when whoever was approaching him already spoke out.

"I don't get you! You win a duel against a noble and you ask for nothing in return? I would daresay you were even chivalrous if it weren't for how you threw me around!" The voice belonged to Melinda, and it was loud. She clearly seemed frustrated and worried enough to steel her resolve and openly come out to talk to him alone.

"Aw, I can be chivalrous too y'know." Del said with a pouty face he made just on the spot.

"And with these jokes! Ugh, why are you avoiding this?" She continued to say loudly to him as her irritation grew.

"Hm. I guess there is just nothing I desire from you." Del shrugged. He then took a few steps over to a bag near him and bent down to grab it.

Melinda was strangely left speechless. She couldn't help but watch Del not even bat an eye at her as he started to open the bag. He didn't desire anything? She didn't believe him. She had made a deal with him in front of a gathering of people, so he should know as a noble she was obligated to fulfill her end of the arrangement or some equivalent. Yet he is so bold as to claim he didn't want anything? Preposterous! She opened her mouth to call him out but Del spoke before her as if he had a sixth sense.

"Oh, but there is one thing."

Psh, she knew she wasn't wrong, just as she thought. He had done all this stalling to build up for when he would ask.

"Could you hold the end of this bag?" He asked with pleading eyes.

Melinda was dumbstruck. This mere commoner was keeping her on edge like this. Stomping her feet as if she were adverse to the task, she went over and held the end of the bag with two fingers. Del then slowly pulled out what looked to be several actual weapons. She looked at them wide eyed, wondering if he were actually going to train with them. Was he even permitted to have them in the first place?

Del stood back up and wiped his hands off of each other. "Alright, debt fulfilled. That's a clear conscious right?" He said while looking at her with an expecting expression.

Melinda waa dumbstruck again. She took a single step back as if she saw something she couldn't believe. "I-I, you idiot! Y-you commoner!" She started to yell out having realized a fool had been made out of her. She inwardly felt that now she had not only been defeated physically, but mentally.

"What did I do this time? The deal was only a peck on the cheek right? Holding a bag is equivalent I would think." Del said as he pressed a finger up to his chin, looking as if he were thinking to make sure he was right.

Melinda stared at him unbelievably. She did remember that was her end of the deal, but his, it was far more embarrassing not even in comparison to a kiss not even on the lips. She started to feel as if this was less because of obligation, but more so because of guilt. She is apparently aware of herself.

"I... I'm sorry."

"Eh? Shit, what do I keep doing? I can't even keep up. This seems like a one sided conversation." Del's face became confused and slightly distressed. A couple od seconds of silence then passed.

"Would you... like to be my acquaintance?" Melinda finally blurted out while narrowly avoiding eye contact.

"...I thought we were acquainted" Del looked at her with a simple face while he slouched forward a bit trying to get a good look at her.

"Do you accept or not?! You should be glad you are even being offered by someone of my class!" She said aggressively this time as he held out a hand to push away Del's face.

Del stumbled back slightly and smiled. "Fine fine, I accept your offer."

"Hmph, I expect you to not become clingy."

"So much for an apology." He smiled an impish smile at her.

Del teased her a bit more before she had to leave for a practice with a class. Del watched her as she walked off. He rubbed his chin admiring the view. Once she was out of sight he sat down and looked at the weapons on the floor in front of him.

He gazed at the dagger a fee inches shorter than his forearm. He picked it up and held it in a hammer position while looking at it's blade up and down. "Now I've got an in." He said quietly.
