When God demand (Tanya POV)

Sneaking around the church to where the gunshot is heard with the cruelly made cloth skirt I wear dragging me down in the process, I can identify some French being spoken loudly near the exit of the church. Hiding behind a pillar, I manage to get a peek at the scene.

There, Brother Anthony has fallen silent on the ground, his body still trembling from the bullet that hit his body which results in a blood pool forming around him. Besides him is the older nun I eavesdropped on before, her faces now pale white due to the horror she witnessed. Covering her mouth with her hands while her legs are shaking, she finds herself eventually kneeling on the ground as she loses her courage and strength inside of her.

And the one who commits the murder is unsurprisingly a few soldiers from the French army according to my suspicion.

"Ha! This will teach that old folk a lesson." The soldier who just shot Brother Anthony pulled back his rifle's bolt, speaking in French towards his comrades. "Just let us enter and there wouldn't be any problem, yet you make such a big deal from it. So don't hate me for sending you to the God you believe in so much."

"Alright fellow! Come in now, the nuisance is dealt with already, I'm starving already!" Shouting, he asks the other few soldiers outside to come in, as the 'negotiation' has been complete.

With the other soldiers begin swarming in, the small hall of the church is quickly filled with around eight soldiers. One of the soldiers who appears to be the leader of the group noticing the already dead Brother Anthony raises his eyebrows a bit, but ultimately ignores the misdeeds.

"Alright, scavenge for food, we are staying here for a day. Avoid letting the civilians here from escaping and revealing our position, move them all into a room and tie them up." Giving command, the leader proceeded to shout at the still shock and now crying old nun. Shouting at her while making some hand gesture, he eventually conveys the message to let her lead him where their food is located, to which she nodded back with a pair of swollen eyes.

Tasked with scouting the german territory on their horse, the scout team are taking a rest here today before returning to report their findings. Leaving their horse outside, they now require some rest and food after the exhausting journey, so pillaging local for supplies becomes a natural decision.

Looking at the old nun who is leading the soldiers to the storage, I realized I will have to escape from the church before they manage to find me. Although I don't know much French, but the dead priest on the ground is more than enough to convince me that they aren't the good guys today.

Waiting silently before the pillar as the darkness covers my small body, I watch as the soldiers split up, some going to the storage while others head towards the classroom where everyone else is located. Noticing my chance has come, I begin sneaking towards the exit without hesitation, attempting to escape from this dangerous place. Stepping slowly with every step, the other will have to save themselves from the soldier.

Well, if things have gone according to my plan.

"Tanya!' Crying out loud, the voice of Sister Anna entered my ears. And within seconds, I find myself already in the warm hug of her as she puts her two shoulders around me. Shock and terrified, she hugs me tightly while her tears fall on my blonde hair, denying me my escape from the church.

"Oh no! Why does this have to happen to us! Are you okay Tanya? Are you hurt anywhere? I know that Brother Anthony is important to you, but it's already too late!" Checking every part of my body for wounds while panicking, she assumes that I risk myself to check on the dead priest who is right beside me now. Just when I want to struggle from her hug and reach for freedom, the French's voice shouting at us crashes the last of my hope.

The soldier noticing our presence with their rifle aiming at us began shouting words I couldn't understand. Sister Anna's face turns pale from their intimidating aura and is unable to move from the shock. Instinctively hugging me even tighter for the sense of safety I can barely breath from her tight grips.

"Don..don't worry Tanya! I will protect you!" Sister Anna's voice still trembling, begin mumbling gibberish in her mouth. "Th-the Lord will protect us from e-everything! Just clo-close you-your eyes! Everything will be alright after a while!"

'Nothing is gonna be alright you damn virgin!' Cursing in her hug, I look at the soldiers who are getting close to me with every step. Shouting at us and pushing us, they were kind enough to not harm us and only forced us into the storage which we normally store food.

"Ah Anna! Tanya! You are both safe!" What welcomes us is the hug of the older nun as they have arrived in the storage. Inside are two soldiers who are on alert, guarding everyone left in the church which is around twenty children and the old nun.

"Entrer! (Enter in French)"Pushing us into the storage, the soldier then proceeds to lock the door behind us to prevent us from escaping. And with the sound of the old wooden door locking up, we are now condemned here till god knows how long.

The children begin crying loudly from all the shock they've been through. The sisters try to calm them down but to no avail while me on the other hand decides to find an empty corner to sit right down, hugging my head towards my leg as my mind begins spinning fast. The failure of my previous escape didn't crash me of my desire for freedom. Calming down my mind, I try to think of another way.

No window, hard wall. maybe I could try lockpicking the door at night and escape. Who knows if the soldier will decide to slaughter them all one day. My mind forming one after another plan of possible escape route. And just when I want to take a quick nap to save strength, a sound enters into my ears.

"Pray to me my child, and I shall bestow you the strength to fight against the enemy you so desire." The sound with an aura of holiness asking for my prayer, I immediately recognized it to be being X which I hated still till this day.

"What the f*ck do you want being X!? Do you want to kill me this time?" Raising up my head, with frustration I shouted towards the toy soldier who was floating in the sky. With a red uniform and creepy big eyes it silently stares towards me as if he is asserting dominance over me, and I hate every moment of it.

The time has now frozen due to being X special ability, the children's tears still floating midair, the nun's pale face unchanged. I wonder if I could use this chance to escape from here.

"Still thinking of relying on yourself in this desperate time? Seems like I will have to teach you a lesson." Noticing my deep thought, the toys begin to speak again as its mouth proceeds to move up and down.

"Remember, the prayer of mine shall grant you great strength that you will be able to save yourself and others from danger. It isn't really a bad trade you know?" As the toy continues to speak in a mocking tone, my irritation grows stronger and stronger.

"Didn't the church teaching change you in the slightest? I'm really quite fascinated by the stubbornness in you at this point. Even I didn't expect this kind of determination. Is believing in my power really an idea so bad I wonder?" And as his sentence ends, I eventually snap.

"What do you want from me! I'm just a normal human being! Go find another test subject that is more willing to serve you, aren't you God!" My small heart pumps fast due to the anger and I begin shouting, remembering the suffering I've had to go through due to his interference.

Causing my rich parents from this life into bankruptcy and eventually abandon me in the church, reading the dumb bible every day or else to face the consequences for being forced out to starve, even denying me of my chance to get adopted by some goodwill folk by controlling their dreams or performing miracle in front of them. My hatred towards him grows stronger every day.

"Go away! I wouldn't pray or give you any type of faith! Screw off!" Shouting again with a twisted face, my desire to crash him grew even stronger.

"You will eventually, you will. Humans aren't known for their endurance after all." And ending with that sentence, the toy eventually fades into the air as the time around begins to flow again. As the children begin to cry, and the adults begin moving around comforting them.

"Remember, a simple prayer is all I want." Reminding me again, he had finally left me alone for now.

'Damn it! Like I would succumb to you!' Shouting in my heart, my brain spins even faster to think for an escape. Being X is up to something and I know it, I will have to be quick. Tonight, tonight I will escape from the door through lockpicking it when the soldiers are tired and sleeping, it shouldn't be too hard with my skill. But I will conserve my strength for now.

With that I lower my head, ignoring the chaos around me to gain some good rest. And as time flies with the children finally calm down, evening soon arrives. Everyone tired now begins to sleep on the cold wooden floor. Me on the other hand which is lying against the hard wall decides it's time and opens my eyes. Without making any sounds I make my way to the still locked door. Bringing up a thin, long iron stick I insert it into the cruelly made lock, quietly lockpicking my way to freedom. That is until I started hearing footsteps heading toward here.

Taking a deep breath and pulling back my tool, I begin to slowly go back to my original position, acting as I was sleeping deeply.

"Bam!" With the door being kicked open from the outside which woke up the majority of us, a few soldiers began shouting at us. As people begin to wake up from the disturbance, they proceed to grab a few children from the crowd, which include me. The nuns noticing their action tries to stop them but is met with the rifle butt on their face.

Being hit, they can only sit on the ground and beg for mercy from the soldiers. Crying while kneeling down on the floor, it clearly has no effect on the cold blooded soldiers.

One of the soldiers hand lifting up my small body without concern, together with some other child who is still crying, we are grabbed outside to our cruel fate.
