'Utopia'

When was that word first used?

The word first occurred in Sir Thomas More's Utopia, published in Latin as Libellus...de optimo reipublicae statu, deque nova insula Utopia (1516;

"Concerning the highest state of the republic and the new island Utopia"); it was compounded by More from the Greek words for "not" (ou) and "place" (topos) and thus meant "nowhere." (Source: Britannica(dot)com/topic/Utopia)

Is Utopia possible?

A Utopia, by definition, doesn't exist. However, the utopian impulse—the desire to work towards an idealized place—can be productive. In this incrementality, there is space for evolving ideals, and forward, progressive momentum is what we need.

What if we use technology and magic? Will a utopian society be possible?
