#6: Spring Ball

As soon as I got off the carriage, I saw three of them standing at staring daggers at me. I got down, ignored them. I was quite angry. I told I was tired and went back to my room to sleep.

But I couldn't I was just too much excited that I got a friend.....

Soon, I got up and went over to the saloon, got myself some new shoes for the ball, and then had gone to a restaurant, to meet the greatest friend Lilliana.

After a bit of fake talks and plastic smiles, I finally left her and went to the library again. To meet Mary Ann. As expected she had a new collection ready for me. After spending a bit more time I went back home.

I was tired. I had no improvement in my plan for revenge. I was too tired, I was unable to do anything that really made a difference. It was all going the same way.

This week, all the ministers argued, because the crown prince brought in his lover, who is a commoner, and broke his engagement with the duke's daughter. He was also adamant on making the commoner his queen aka the empress.

Many felt she wasn't suited. There were many controversies. The next day is the ball huh....

*The next day*

I went on, in the carriage to attend the ball, I was bored. It was the usual kind, people did talk to me, but after I went away, it was all about my bad behavior and ignorance towards other people. I got bored.

How come people have the energy to keep on repeating the same gossip for ages? Then came my so-called crush, the second prince. The board had decided me to be his fiancée but it was never made official.

That too served as good gossip material though.

I took a glass of wine and went to the balcony, imagining a handsome guy, standing near the railing waiting for me. When our eyes meet, he says," Wow, Fancy meeting you here my beauty."

...

Wait. It seems like I am a character yearning for romance rather revenge. No! It is the influence of the romance novels of Mary. But it is not bad to leave everything and dream about romance. >w<

But there is no Mr.McDreamy here.

But still the cool night felt calm, I looked up to see the same lonely star I looked at from being a prisoner. It felt incomplete, the second prince cheating on me, using me as a pawn to kill the crown prince, Lilliana using me to flaunt herself, and becoming the fiancée of the second prince seemed like the tip of the iceberg.

They were of course heinous activities, but something felt off, there was something I couldn't see. A much bigger thing. Of course it could all be just my imagination. But this gut feeling is so strong. There is something going on.

I went back in, danced with my elder brother, and went towards the corner to get myself a glass of water, As I stood there, I could hear everyone's gossip, but it wasn't about me.

I got shocked. What happened? Nothing about me? I crept in to hear more. Wait, I know you shouldn't eavesdrop but this is an important thing.

Turns out it was about the crown prince. The rumor that he fell in love with a commoner, and brought her to the palace. I ignored it, though it is an juicy gossip.

Because, I know that the crown prince will not stop at anything to make that commoner his queen. Even though I stayed at the royal palace for a real long time, I could not find the commoner girl. Very few people had seen her. She never came to any of the balls, nor attended tea parties or any of meetings, not even during dinner she would come.

In the future, the crown prince goes to a war against the Darius Empire, for reasons which I never knew, people gossiped and spread rumors saying a diplomatic issue due to the mines road. There were no proper negotiations and all. But he was never the type to wage war on this.

Even though I spied on him, I could only scratch the surface of the priceless information he kept with him.

Soon, topic changed to the third empire, Solezia, The empire at the southern part of the continent, It was one of the oldest empire, Ancient to all, it always remained in power. No one dares to challenge it, well no sane person does. Except our Royal Majesty, The Emperor, Franklin William. (Yes, I can call him names but I felt it must be rude. after all he is almost senile)( He is 45) (I hope u get it>u<)

Our Emperor, angered the Solezia empire long back before I was even born, or my brothers for that matter. I will get to the reason why later, but now it seems Solezia is banned from trading with our country, and they are not allowed to come to capital city, but must be confined to the rural mountains.

This angered Solezia, of course which has trading herbs as one of main sources of income, They are quite self-respected people, and don't like insults so, our dear emperor just made new enemies for the empire. The only thing that bothered me was that the poison which killed the crown prince was from Solezia.

the other charge of treason was trading with Solezia, apparently during a raid, they found a box with Solezia's emblem containing a vial of poison. The emblem of Solezia was easy to recognize, a snake wrapped around a sword which in turn was stabbing a mistletoe(Don't ask me why, I don't know its significance).

I went and took a glass, my full concentration on my ears, trying to properly understand multiple people.(One of the skill I had developed to find out what was going on in palace to help the second prince).

"My, If it isn't the Lady Montrez."

No way... It can't be... I turned and saw, trouble still finds me. It was my friend Lilliana.
