Ozma merged with Gala.
Gala felt the power surge and could feel his control over lightning increase.
Ozma was already training even as a Ra-Seru Egg and trained in Biron Monastery and harnessed the fire of the Fire Seed that allowed it to gather energy and even create lightning through it.
Gala felt his power increase. His strength, his speed, and even his Spirit were merging with it.
Dyne could feel the massive mana pool of Gala, and his heart hurt. Gala had an impressive mana pool that already exceeded a hundred mana points!
"Just like in the game…" Dyne sighed and couldn't help but curse at his 33 mana points.
The powerful energy of lightning coursed through Gala, and he even smiled as he held his hammer.
"This hammer…!" Gala was amazed.
"Since you attached me to it, the constant surge of power has linked me to it. With Lord Dyne's help, find those who can improve that hammer."
"I see…"
"That… was fun…!" A weak laugh was heard, and everyone turned to see the wolf.
Its pitiful appearance remained as blood was moving out.
Seeing it made Nanaki approach the beast.
"Ha...Ha…Ha… Well fought! My son… is in good hands!" The werewolf suddenly spoke.
Dyne was amazed as the wolf spoke.
"You can talk?" Dyne was amazed.
"I… am a descendant... of the monster king Behemoth. And the many mortals I ate in this cave… those of the Gi Tribe carried darkness… that control us... Me and the Minotaur… was a servant to their darkness…"
Dyne was amazed when he heard the word Behemoth. The Behemoth was a recurring creature in the Final Fantasy series. And the more Dyne observed the beast, the more he understood.
"I came here… long ago. And before the Mist came… I fathered a son… That wolf who you call Nanaki is my son… By the twist of Fate, we meet once more… But the madness of the Mist has already claimed me and his mother's life. Nanaki… You are not a normal wolf…!"
A strange power began to glow all over the werewolf and was creating a resonance with Nanaki.
Nanaki began to tremble as he felt a strange power awaken him.
But as the power erupted, the limbs of the werewolf began to turn to stone.
Dyne saw it and knew that the Fate of this wolf would just be like Nanaki in the game.
"I assume that I can't heal him anymore." Dyne asked Strafe. From his perspective, there was nothing that he could do. The energy of the Earth was stronger than the Basilisk, and it had traces of Darkness which kept the petrification in place. There was no other choice. Brimstone would kill Seto as it is one with his body as well.
"No. The truth is, when you named the wolf Nanaki, I was having a hard time keeping the secret of the side-quests I made. Perhaps in your hedonism, you didn't realize you were walking in the path of games I set."
"I knew it would eventually come to this. If Basileous Basileon is arranging my games, you would naturally be an instrument. I can see the end of this werewolf through the Eyes of Destiny."
"He was fated to eat the parts of the Minotaur even if you killed him. The power of the Behemoth would awaken and give him enough life to accomplish that. And not even the current you can save him." Strafe explained.
"I probably wouldn't if I could, though. This is Nanaki's backstory, after all…" Dyne shrugged.
"My son… Know my name. I am Seto. And as my son, you are a descendant of the Behemoth King! You are even stronger than that Minotaur! But now… I have to bid you farewell. I will soon be petrified. You've already eaten a piece of me… Great Warrior! Thank you for freeing me from the Mist and Gi Nattak's darkness bondage. Use that power that pulled the life energy from me… and give it to my son." Seto urged.
"I understand." Dyne agreed.
"AWOOO!" Nanaki howled as it heard the words of Seto.
"It's too late… for me. Even those magic Serus can't save me...No matter what happens… I will die. The moment I ate the dantian of the Minotaur… and the heart of Gi Nattak, my life was over. But these powers, I will harness and give to you! So, Seto, bestow the last of my life to my son!"
Dyne could feel the life energy of Seto escaping his body and immediately went to work.
Dyne harnessed his Brimstone power and sent that power to Nanaki.
Nanaki was merging with the power of the werewolf's life source and began to change. The tail of Nanaki had continued to emit flames as his form became larger. The werewolf had finally turned into a dark stone as his body gave in to the petrifying and dark powers from the two bosses it ate.
Dyne could sense the werewolf's power as it was being passed on.
As the energy was being sent, Dyne could feel a powerful force within.
"So… Nanaki acts like someone who gets Vincent's Galian Beast that looks like those Behemoth enemies in Final Fantasy VII. Interesting! This means that the forms of Vincent's Limit Breaks are out there… And Chaos is also out there…!" Dyne smiled.
The powers of light continued to flash out, and Nanaki's wolf form was turning larger and larger. The power of the wind element became stronger in Nanaki, and there were even traces of darkness gathering in him! The power also bestowed on Nanaki a stronger and smarter mind. Nanaki's consciousness and self-awareness were born, and they absorbed the memories of his father.
"Good...bye…" Seto smiled as tears fell on his eyes before becoming stone.
"Father…" Nanaki spoke as he saw his father die before his eyes.
Everyone was amazed that Nanaki spoke.
"AWOOOO!" Nanaki gave a pained howl as it cried when it saw the love of it's father.
The Brimstone power of Dyne had also taken in the joy of Seto in seeing his son, and Nanaki realized how much he was loved.
The group silently watched as Nanaki cried out, and even those Nanaki could now speak, no one spoke to him or each other but took the time to mourn.
Dyne had observed the mines and realized that they did not collapse as he thought it would.
"Minotaur's death caused the earth energy to return and strengthened the mines…" Dyne noticed.
Suddenly, he heard the sounds of footsteps approaching.
Master Dyne!" Jaden and his team called out.
Dyne turned and saw the rest of the team arrive.
Everyone moved in with their weapons at the ready. They all had tired expressions, and they had numerous wound marks.
"You guys look well…" Dyne joked as he noticed the tired expressions of the team.
"We fought as long as we could. The truth is, we thought we would die! But suddenly, the monsters retreated." Torneko explained.
"It's all thanks to Torneko that we managed to hold out for so long." Tetsu smiled.
"I see that everyone has accepted Torneko as a team member." Dyne smiled.
"He fought valiantly. He's strong!" Jaden answered.
"Coming from you, that's quite some praise, Jaden!" Dyne laughed.
"What happened here, Master Dyne?" Ishreth asked as she noticed a strange power over Gi Nattak and the fallen Minotaur.
"Three bosses. It was like fighting three of those Berserkers Propagator in Jeremi. These ones were very strong. They are descendants of the Monster Kings that live in the distant world of Legaia. Nanaki is apparently the son of one of the monster king's descendants."
"Nanaki?" Arya was astounded and could see the lone, sad wolf.
Nanaki stood up and paid one last bow to his father before turning to the team.
"Everyone. Thank you for your support." Nanaki bowed.
Everyone was shocked at seeing Nanaki speak.
"It can speak?" Agumon was amazed.
Dyne laughed and began to explain everything.
The group stood over Seto, who was now petrified, and also gave their respects.
"What a strong father. But just like the rest of Legaia, the powers of the Mist have corrupted it. Nanaki. Your father lived a life of darkness. Yet, in the end, he gave you love. And love begets strength. You shall be his heir and his legacy. You will live the mighty and legendary life of your father. You are burdened to live the legacy of two people. Can you bear that weight?" Tetsu asked.
"Master Tetsu! I shall!" Nanaki vowed.
"Master Dyne… movement…!" Amorien pointed out to the distance.
"Yes… A lucky chance. The Mist doesn't reach this place. Maybe because of the Unholy God that has its home nearby. But an even more curious result is why it didn't die."
"What didn't die?"
"The Serus." Dyne pointed at the distance, and the Serus of the Minotaur and Gi Nattak remained!
"What? How? When we kill a seru host, the seru dies with them!" Gala exclaimed.
"These two were being manipulated by Gi Nattak. Besides… They aren't normal Serus either. Ladies and gentlemen… This is perhaps… a variation of the dreaded Sim Seru!" Dyne smiled as he approached.
As the group approached, Serge didn't move.
"Serge?" Arya asked.
"Somethings there! I can feel it! Something is over there!"
Dyne smiled as he heard it.
"Ah… A way to the Another World finally opens!" Dyne smiled as he could guess what would be the only thing that would alarm the Chrono Trigger like that.
