After Aunt Jenny left the cabin, I check up on mom every now and then. After making sure that she's alright, I decided to go for a swim in the lake.
I walk to our patio outside and stripped down. I had my summer bikini on. Slowly, I sat on the edge of the patio and soak my legs in the water. I shivered by the coldness of the lake. I move my legs back and forth to adjust my body temperature with the water temperature. After both temperatures regulated with one another, I dive into the lake.
The weather was nice. A hint of sunlight gleamed on the lake's surface making it look as if it has glitter on it. It's so refreshing. Even after staying awake the whole night, I don't feel sleepy at all after swimming. I guess taking a swim was better than fishing.
After a nice 15 minutes of soaking and swimming in the lake, I felt kinda hungry so I swim back to the patio and climb out of the water. I walk around the cabin and entered through the back door. I rushed to the bathroom because I'm soaked up. I grabbed a clean robe and headed to my bedroom. I quickly change into my comfy hoodie and shorts.
I went back to the kitchen to make myself some sandwiches. I made sure to make extra for mom. Since that incident this morning, she hasn't left her room to get breakfast.
I made a glass of warm chocolate milk and arranged the sandwiches nicely on the plate. I placed them on a tray and carry them to my mom's room.
There's a small table near her door, so I placed the tray on top of the table and knock on the door.
"Knock...knock"
"Mom, are you awake? I brought breakfast for you, " I said, knocking on the door. There's no answer so I tried knocking again. This time, it's louder but there's still no answer from her.
I thought maybe she's asleep so I open the door and carry the tray inside. I put the try on the side table and wake my mom up.
"Mom, wake up. I brought you some sandwiches and chocolate milk." I gently shake her shoulder but there's no response from her. I got worried. I tried patting her face gently but there's no sign of movement. I called her name several times but she still doesn't respond. I'm so worried right now. My hands are shaking and I can feel my legs started to tremble. I call Aunt Jenny a few times but she didn't pick up so I texted her. I started to cry. I tried to wake my mom up again but everything I tried is useless now. She's unconscious.
I took a deep breath and starting to gather my senses. I grabbed my purse and car keys and quickly opened the passenger door. I went back inside and struggled to carried my mom in my arms. I placed her on the passenger seat and buckled up the seat belt. There's no time to waste now. I turned the ignition on and drove to the hospital which is located, half and hours from the cabin. I stepped on the acceleration pad, going as fast as I could to save my mother. Since I don't know how to do CPR, going to the hospital is the only option I got.
"Mom, please don't leave me. You have to survive, " I muttered while sobbing and driving at the same time. Thank God for the congested traffic, we arrived at the hospital in less than 30 minutes.
I parked my car on the parking spot nearest to the building. I got down, unbuckled the seat belts on my mom, and quickly carry her inside.
"HELP, SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME. MY MOM IS UNCONSCIOUS AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH HER, " I screamed for help.. I'm crying and I feel so helpless right now. Several medical officers are headed towards me with a stretcher. "PLEASE SAVE HER, " I said as they put her on the stretcher and carried her inside the emergency room (ER).
I leaned on the wall and just started on the floor. My mind is completely blank. I don't know what to do.
"Rylee?" A familiar voice appeared beside me. I turned my head to see the person's face. It's Aunt Jenny.
"You're here, " I whispered and collapsed on the floor, sobbing like a little kid when I see her. She hugged me. "It's going to be alright. Your mom is gonna be okay. Okay?"
I just cried in her embrace.
My stomach growled. "You looked pale. Have you eaten anything?" she asked, patting my back.
I shook my head. "I made some sandwiches at the cabin but I didn't get a chance to eat yet, " I replied.
"Let's eat at the cafeteria. I'll tell the nurse to inform me if Megan is out from the ER, " she said.
I hesitate. "I promise if we heard anything from the nurse, we'll go straight to your mom, " she said, reassuring me. I sighed in defeat. I nodded and we head towards the cafeteria.
