Chapter 47

*SLAM!*

Throwing his phone down on the nightstand beside him, an angered Caio looks down at the two women peacefully sleeping on his chest.

"Hey, wake up. Wake up."

One of the women yawns and sleepily opens her eyes, smiling up at Caio.

"Take your friend and get the hell out of my place."

"I thought you said you'd-

"Fuck what I said, just take your friend and your damn shoes and get the hell out."

Getting out of bed, the professional spy slides on a pair of pants, before knocking on his brother's door.

"Dayne, we need to talk."

Opening his bedroom door, Dayne walks out and into the kitchen of the penthouse.

"What? Do you regret blowing money on a girl?"

"No, you idiot. I knew coming to Miami was a bad idea. I knew it."

Dayne shrugs, taking a sip of milk.

"Not really, it's where we were born after all. It's kinda nostalgic for me."

Caio gives him an angry look.

"Nia has went over to two houses and a hotel since I left. THREE IN TOTAL. I checked who owned each one and they're all male names, Dayne. And get this, one is that little bastard, Kazimir!"

"She's a detective, Caio. I'm sure it's all work-related, especially if one is a hotel. She doesn't even look like the type to participate in those kinds of things."

Caio shakes his head.

"And if it was for work, then why the hell would she be visiting two of them late at night?! That little bastard even had the audacity to keep her at his place overnight even after I told him to stay away from her, FUCKING HELL!"

Dayne watches as his older twin knocks the milk jug off of the counter.

"Well maybe she was hiding with him for her safety."

"Will you stop getting off what I'm trying to bring to light?!" Caio screams. "Nia is obviously getting used by those bozos and her heart is blinding her to where she can't see it!"

He grabs his suitcase and coat, taking a pear out of the refrigerator.

"Go make up a fake doctor's excuse, give it to the boss, and tell him I have the flu and that I went back home to rest. You want money for this, just tell me how much and I'll wire it to you."

He walks out of the large apartment, slamming the door behind him.

Dayne looks over at the two women standing beside him and shrugs.

"Sorry about him, he's just having some issues. Breakfast?"

--- later that evening ---

*KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!*

Averting his attention from the television, Kazimir rolls his eyes and gets up to open the front door, coming face to face with Caio.

"Where is she?"

"Where is who?"

The skilled spy raises a brow, attempting to push Kazimir out of the way.

"Move-

The young detective punches the man, causing him to stumble back.

"FUCKING BITCH!"

Walking forward, Caio punches Kazimir in his stomach, before tackling him to the ground, where the two men struggle to gain control of the other.

"What're you two doing?"

Looking up, Caio and Kazimir watch as Nia tilts her head in confusion.

"Boa noite, meu bebê!" Caio says, standing up and brushing himself off. "What brings you here?"

"I stopped by to give Kazimir this onigiri I made as a thank you gift. He let me stay with him last night since my neighborhood's toll gate wasn't working." the young woman says, frowning.

Caio's eyes slightly widen.

"Oh. See, Kazimir and I were just play fighting, weren't we?"

The young detective turns to Caio, his eyes narrowing.

"No, the hell-

"Come with me, Nia! I have some gifts from Florida I bought you!" Caio interrupts, leading the young woman out of the living room. "I think they'll match your look perfectly."

Nia gives Kazimir a nervous smile, setting the plate of food on his coffee table.

"I suppose I'll see you tomorrow, Kazimir. I do hope you enjoy!"

The young man walks over to the plate of food and picks up a piece of onigiri, taking a bite.

"She can even cook."

He puts the rest in the refrigerator, before deciding to turn in for the night.

*BRRRRRINNNG!*

"JEEZ, WHAT NOW?!"

Angrily picking up his phone, Kazimir swipes the green call button.

"Can't you see I'm trying to get some rest?!"

"Well, that's a hell of a way of addressing your captain."

The young detective sighs.

"My bad, Captain Uzini. I'm just...tired, okay?"

"I'm sure we all are, but you have a job as a detective, now. Better start getting used to it. Look, we have a meeting in the downtown metropolitan area in fifteen minutes. I'll text you the directions to where you should go."

Kazimir looks over at his clock. 10:08 P.M.

"Okay."

Quickly hanging up, the young man gets dressed and grabs his keys, starting his car.

He looks down at his phone and follows his captain's text message, before coming upon a large building.

Parking behind one of the many cars, the young man enters and looks around, literally dropping himself in a random seat.

"Kazimir?"

Opening his eyes, the detective watches as Milette takes a seat next to him.

"You were about to fall asleep, silly! How much rest are you getting these days?"

"Not enough." Kazimir replies. "You know why we're here?"

"Why?" Milette asks.

"No, I'm asking you do you know why we're here?"

"Oh!" Milette says, madly blushing. "Sorry, I don't."

"Ladies and gentlemen, your attention please!"

The large audience gazes forward as Captain Uzini walks onto the stage, followed by another unknown man.

"Good evening, my fellow law enforcement. My name is Ernest Tamb and I am your new chief of police. Yes, that goes for each and every single one of you; the Claiza City Police Department and the Claiza City Special Forces Department have recently decided to combine their departments."

Ernest lifts his arms up and looks up at the ceiling.

"And this is our new building, complete with advanced security cameras that will immediately catch one's face and match that person with their identification. We also have a new gate where you can only enter by using a new, specialized card that you all will receive shortly; citizens will be let in by a press of a button on our part."

Sighing, Kazimir looks down at his phone and spins it around in his hand, before grinning.

"Mama was right; the more, the merrier."

*BRRRINNNNGGG!"

"I gotta take this, I'll be back." Kazimir whispers to Milette.

Walking outside, the young man answers.

"Good evening!"

Kazimir rolls his eyes.

"What, Pierre?"

"How's my Bon Bon doing? I need to speak with her."

"You can't right now. I'm at a meeting."

"A meeting for what?" Pierre asks, raising a brow.

"The two departments decided to combine. Didn't Captain Uzini tell you?"

"He didn't tell me shit. Oh well, long as those snobby police officers don't get in my way, I don't really care."

Kazimir shrugs, playing with his earring.

"Did you get in touch with Aria yet?"

"No, I've been busy. Why?"

"I think it's best if you call her. She has some exciting news for you." the young man replies.

"You don't sound very excited about it."

Kazimir groans.

"Maybe because I'm not the father?"

Pierre sighs and smiles, watching as bright headlights made their way down the dark road.

"Whatever. I'll call you back soon to check on Bon Bon. Peace."

He hangs up, putting the phone into his pocket.

"About time he showed up."

A silver car pulls into his warehouse, headlights almost blinding him.

"The Ferrari Roma! I'm planning to get one soon. What's the gas mileage like?"

Alexei steps out of the car, following Pierre deeper into the large warehouse.

"You said you needed a favor from me."

The professional detective nods, switching on a huge light and the young law student raises a brow.

"Tell your bosses that you need to borrow a few of their commercial planes."

"Still drug trafficking, Pierre?" Alexei rhetorically asks with a sigh as he lifts up a blue sheet from over a stack of boxes. "Another reason I don't like you being around my Khristina."

Pierre stretches his arms behind his head.

"Says the arms dealer. Anyway, I have about $10 million for you."

"Triple it and throw in a box of acetaminophen for my headaches." Alexei says, turning back to him. "I'm not lending you my planes for that little."

"They're not even your-

"Would you like my help or not?" the young law student interrupts, raising a brow.

Groaning, Pierre rolls his eyes.

"Fine. $30 million for three of your planes."

"Two of my planes. Three will look suspicious on air traffic control."

"Yeah, two of your company's planes. But I want them in two days and give me another handgun; I let Aria keep my other one while I'm away."

Alexei nods.

"I can get you them in the next 24 hours."

"Even better." Pierre says, picking up a box of acetaminophen. "Hey, slide this to Kazimir. I know this is his favorite poison."

Alexei watches as the professional detective hands him the box, before picking up another box labeled "Fentanyl" and gives it to him.

"For what? Does he take drugs around Khristina?"

"The law student playing stupid; I know you and that bastard are the main ones going around and murdering law officials." Pierre replies, crossing his arms. "Only reason I haven't turned you both in is that the less law officials, the more I can do as I please."

The young law student places the box in his car's trunk, before turning to Pierre.

"Then if I were to stop, what would happen?"

The professional detective smirks.

"Then you know what would happen."

"Whether I decide to continue killing law officials is my choice alone." Alexei says, getting back into his car. "You say anything and I'll drag you down right along with me. That's a promise."

He puts the gear shift into reverse.

"I'll give you a call in the morning to meet with you and guide you on where to take your trucks. Remember, I want my money delivered while the planes are en route to wherever you're taking them."

Pierre shrugs and watches as the young man backs out of the warehouse, speeding down the road.

"Sleazy little bastard."
