Chapter 108

"Who the fuck is this clown banging on the door?"

Yawning, Pierre opens the door and loudly sighs as he comes face to face with his colleague.

"You really left Canada, huh?"

Walking inside, Kazimir places Caramel-Strawberry's cage down next to Heggy the hedgehog's before walking into the kitchen.

"The hell's for breakfast?"

"I don't know man. It's not like it's 6 in the morning and everyone's still asleep." Pierre replies as he squats down in front of Caramel-Strawberry's cage. "Who's this?"

"You have eyes to read her collar, don't you?"

"Caramel-Strawberry? What kinda name is that?"

"What's the name of the store that Khristina was harassed in?"

"Teddy's Grocer."

Kazimir makes a disgusted face as he watches Caramel-Strawberry shyly sniff Pierre's hand.

"The same place that had 8 different rape cases happen nearby? You took Khristina to that?"

"As well as Prince and Miracle. Besides, I had a gun on me in case anyone did try anything. The area's already sketchy as is."

The younger male chuckles before laughing hysterically.

"Let me get this straight; you took Khristina to an area where sexual assault and harassment cases happen often, then left her to roam around the store alone?"

Picking Pierre up by the top of his shirt, Kazimir slams his back into the front door.

"I told you to watch her not put her in harm's way."

Pulling Kazimir off of him, Pierre takes his gun from his pocket and aims it at the man's head.

"Now I don't know what prompted you to barge your way into my house with this shaggy mutt, but you better watch your fucking mouth."

Kazimir tilts his head and smiles as he lowers the gun from his head.

"You have to be one special type of dumbass if you don't think I'll snatch this thing from you and kill you first. I'll be back for breakfast in a few. And I prefer waffles over pancakes."

Closing the front door behind him, Kazimir walks over to his car and starts it, quickly pulling out of the driveway.

Speeding down the road, he nearly misses his exit to head towards the small store. After 10 more minutes of driving, the young detective pulls into the parking lot and backs in.

Reaching into the car's glovebox, Kazimir takes out an extended magazine before inserting it into the M-16 next to him.

With the large gun in his lap, he sits back and watches as a couple of employees walk in and out of the store, until something finally caught his eye.

A young woman walks by his car and to the far right, the detective notices a figure creeping behind a couple of other cars.

Throwing the weapon in the backseat, Kazimir gets out, calling out to the young woman.

"Excuse me? Miss?"

She turns around and pauses as Kazimir walks over.

"I'm a detective from the Claiza City Special Forces Department and I'd like to ask you a few questions regarding a certain stalking situation."

The young woman smiles as hope fills her eyes.

"My goodness, you must be an angel. Just let me clock in first and I'll meet you back out here."

After waiting for around 5 minutes, Kazimir looks over to see the lady walk back over to him.

"Do you carry any sort of protection on you?" the young man asks as he opens the passenger door for her.

"I have a pocket knife my brother gave to me. That's about it."

Closing the door, Kazimir walks around to the driver's side and closes his own door.

"I ask you that because I saw something earlier that came to my concern."

He watches as the woman frowns and looks forward.

"Oh."

"May I have your name?"

"It's Yimirah. Yimirah Midton."

"Yimirah. That's a nice name. Reminds me of a royal goddess."

"Thank you."

"Now, when did you start working here?"

"About 6 months ago, but then I had to stop for awhile due to college. I've recently had to put in-person classes on hold due to my family's finances. You see, both of my parents are hospitalized due to an unknown illness and my older brother is paralyzed due to a work-related accident. Fortunately, my professors understood the situation and let me continue online."

"I'm sorry to hear about your family. I'm sure they're very grateful and proud to have you, though. Anyway, it's been brought to my attention that a former coworker of yours has been stalking you at work. Could I have some details on what he looks like?"

"And outside as well." Yimirah replies. "He's an average height, middle-aged, fair-to-tannish-skinned male with brown hair and gray eyes. I never caught his name because he never wore a name tag."

"And how long has this been going on?"

"About a day after I started working here. He said I was the only one who understood him and that he could provide for me."

"Got it." Kazimir says, scribbling the information down. "Well Yimirah, I thank you for your time and cooperation. The department probably hasn't done much based on what you've told me, but I'll see what I can get done. Let me get the door for you."

While walking around the front of the car to open Yimirah's door, Kazimir watches as a man tries to stealthily get into a blue sedan.

"Have a good day, Yimirah."

"You too. Thank you again for your help."

After making sure she got into the building, the young man quickly hops back into his car to chase after what looked like the described suspect.

Swerving through a red light, he somehow manages to catch up to the blue car and proceeds to tailgate it. Eventually, the older male takes an exit and the young detective follows suite.

Reaching into the backseat, Kazimir quickly gets a grip on the weapon and begins to fire out the window, hitting the back windshield of the other guy's car.

The guy quickly brakes and pulls over, stepping out of the damaged car with his hands up.

"I swear to you, that little broad came up to me first! She said she wanted-

*BANG!*

Kazimir watches as the man holds his head in pain and walks over to him, squatting down beside him.

"Messing with a girl half your age is one thing but harassing my Khristina? You should be grateful I let your ass live this long."

He looks down, watching as the man held his head in pain.

"I heard you ran out the door when Khristina told the bastard who was watching her at the time about you saying that sick shit to her."

Forcefully picking the man up by his arm, Kazimir drags him into the woods and props him up against a tree, using the large gun to make sure he stood up.

"SOMEBODY HELP ME!"

"Scream all you want, no one's coming to your pathetic rescue. Let me tell you something; mark my words, I will always find the pussies who hurt my loved ones."

*BANG!*

He watches as the man's brain matter scattered against the tree and lowers the gun, the now dead body falling to the ground.

"How sad."

*BRRRIIINNGGG!*

Placing the lip gloss down on the dresser, Nia quickly picks up her phone and answers.

"Hi, Nia."

"Kazimir! It's so nice to finally hear your voice again! How're you doing?"

"I'm alright, how about yourself?"

"Good, thank you. Oh, I collected a few more details about a certain group. I'll share them with you once I return. You never know who's listening."

"That's fine." Kazimir says, wiping his gun off. "Anyway, I was just checking to see how you were doing. How's Alexei and Nyelle?"

"They're doing fine. They actually just went out a few minutes before you called to go shopping."

"And left you alone?"

"Well, I stayed behind by choice." Nia replies. "I wanted to further examine the details of our current high profile case."

Kazimir's brows furrow a little as he looks out of the window.

"What has Alexei done? Take Nyelle out for little dates and left you to do all the work?"

"Well, when you put it like that—you know, some of the group will actually be heading to Jamaica as part of a couple more meetings. Maybe he'll-

"I'll take his spot, Nia." Kazimir interrupts. "Just you and I so that he can take Nyelle out on more dates."

"Kazimir, you don't have to do all of that. You have a mission to complete back in Canada and I'm completely fine with going alone. Besides, remember back at the hotel when you just sat around and ordered food, anyway? I had to take your phone so that you'd do some work."

"And I actually did do some work."

"Yes, after I took your phone away." Nia says, chuckling. "Now, if you promise to do some work, I'll let you come along."

"I promise."

"No laying around and ordering food?"

"No ma'am, I won't do that."

"Okay, you can come along. I don't have the dates yet, so I'm sure that'll be out once this current meeting in Dubai ends. Now, how is your little mission going?"

Kazimir sits up in his car, watching as rain slowly began to fall from the sky.

"I got a few blood samples from the guy back in Canada. I won't know his actual identity until a few days more. It's only been about a night and a morning since I've been back in Claiza City, but I'm actually surprised he hasn't tried to come after me again."

"That's a start." Nia replies as she closes her makeup bag. "Anyway, I'm going out for a little shopping. Would you like me to get you a souvenir?"

"Nah, I'm fine."

"Are you sure?"

"I'm sure." the young man says, starting his car. "Bye, Nia."

"Goodbye, Kazimir."

Hanging up, the young detective slowly puts the phone down onto his thigh and watches as the rain pours down.

*BRRRRRIIIIIINNNNNGGGG!*

Looking down at the caller ID, Kazimir immediately swipes to answer.

"Your waffles aren't getting any warmer, dummy. So, did you find him?"

"Yeah, he's gone. Can I ask you something?"

Pierre switches the phone to his other ear as he slides a pancake onto Miracle's plate.

"I don't know. I don't even know if I should give you an answer after this morning."

"Stop being a bitch; that's my usual temper. Actually, forget about it; you're probably the worst person to ask anyway."

"No I'm not! What is it? What's up?"

"I said forget-

"Oh, you're too embarrassed to ask me!" Pierre interrupts. "Kazimir is embarrassed! Kazimir is embarrassed! Kazimir is-

Hearing the line go dead, the older man groans and redials his colleague's number.

"I was only teasing, man. Come on, I'm 3 years older than you; I'm like a big brother. You know you can tell me anything."

"No, you just want an excuse to be nosy. I'll just ask Google."

"Man, what the hell is your- wait, you like someone?"

"No." Kazimir quickly replies as his face reddens.

"Yeah, ya do! Who?! Who's the unfortunate person?!"

"Will you shut up? I just wanted to ask, what type of gifts do women like?"

Pierre shrugs and looks over at the small children.

"Depends on the women. Some like expensive and some like little homemade cards. You may have to opt for homemade since you don't have a lot of money right now. Now, if you want to show her you really care, get your money up and then get her something expensive."

"I want to get her a ring. And not just any ring, an engagement ring."
