Chapter 35: The Way of Gratitude

When they arrived at Changyang Road, Guo Xiang took a look and found that there were indeed many small buildings that fit Mia's description. She just didn't know which one it was, so she went through them one by one!

Of course, the focus was still on the foreign-related hotels and company offices.

After walking for half a street, she still couldn't find the building described by Mia.

"There's a mechanical company representative office here!" Wu Yuanfei, who was walking in front, said.

Guo Xiang held Mia's hand as they walked over. They saw a blonde woman wearing a skirt anxiously pacing back and forth in front of the door.

"Mama!" Mia saw the woman and dashed over.

"Mia!" The woman's eyes turned red when she saw Mia. She squatted down and picked up her daughter. "Where did you go? Mommy was so worried!"

Xu Jing nudged Wu Yuanfei with her elbow. "They call their mom the same way as us. I thought it was Chinese."

Guo Xiang smiled. "There are many places around the world that call mom the same way. It's a magical unification."

"Mom, it was this sister who brought me back." Mia turned around and pointed at Guo Xiang behind her.

"Really, thank you so much!" Mia's mother said with her stiff Mandarin.

"You're welcome." Guo Xiang pointed at the three people behind her and said in fluent German, "It was these three friends who saw your daughter first, so we came here together."

"You know German?" Mia's mother was very surprised. She turned to Wu Yuanfei and the other two and said repeatedly, "Thank you, thank you!"

"You're welcome, you're welcome!" The three people quickly waved their hands. They were not used to seeing foreigners being so polite.

"Everyone, come in and have a cup of coffee!" Mia's mother greeted warmly.

"It's not necessary, right?" The three students were very embarrassed.

"Come, come, don't be shy!" Mia held Guo Xiang's hand first and couldn't help but pull her in.

Guo Xiang smiled. "Then let's sit for a while."

Seeing Guo Xiang go in, the three students followed her.

Mia's mother brought a few people into her own room and asked them to sit down first before leaving to make coffee.

"This place is so beautiful!" Xu Jing looked around the room curiously.

Guo Xiang nodded. This was a typical Western European style room. It was subtle and luxurious. Naturally, it was very different from the style in China.

Most of the Chinese families now had white-wall and log furniture. Some of the walls were even painted with half a section of green paint. It was similar to a classroom.

Not only did this room have wallpaper, the sofa was also a european-style leather sofa. It was very different from the others.

After a while, Mia's mother walked in with a few cups of coffee on a plate. Mia was holding a small plate with some snacks on it.

Mia returned to her lively personality when she got home.

She sat down next to Guo Xiang and handed her a small snack. "Sister, you eat it!"

"Thank you, Mia!"Guo Xiang took the snack with a smile.

Mia's mother also sat down and chatted with Guo Xiang. The two of them introduced each other. Guo Xiang learned that her name was Emma, and she came to Taiqing with her husband.

Because there were many heavy industrial enterprises in Taiqing, some of them had imported equipment from Germany. Because of the daily maintenance and repair, the factory had set up an office here.

She had just taken her daughter over, but she did not expect to lose her daughter so soon. She had been worried to death just now.

Emma's Chinese was not good, so she used German to communicate with Guo Xiang. The other three did not understand, so they chatted quietly.

"Is this coffee? Why is it so bitter?" Zhang Ming whispered.

"Yeah, I thought it was sweet, but it smells pretty good," Xu Jing said.

"It's my first time drinking it. The taste is okay!" Wu Yuanfei pretended to be mature.

Guo Xiang picked up the coffee, stirred it with a small spoon, put the spoon on the side of the plate, and then elegantly picked up the cup to drink.

"The coffee is good, very fragrant!" Guo Xiang smiled.

"You like It? That's great!" Emma was very surprised. "This is the coffee beans I brought back from Germany. I'll get some for you later."

"There's no need." Guo Xiang shook her head. There was neither a coffee machine nor a grinder at home, so there was no way to make coffee.

"It's okay, I still have a lot here." Emma thought she was being polite.

The three of them blushed when they saw Guo Xiang drinking coffee. So that was how they were supposed to drink it. Just now, they were holding a small spoon to drink, and they even licked the spoon. It was really embarrassing.

Emma did not point it out. She smiled and asked everyone to eat.

"Wait for me!" Emma stood up and went into the bedroom. After a while, she took out an envelope and said to Guo Xiang with a smile, "This is for you. Thank you for helping me find my child!"

Guo Xiang and the three people looked at each other. What was this?

Guo Xiang opened the envelope and saw that it was filled with brand-new banknotes. There were twenty to thirty ten-yuan notes.

"What does she mean by this? Giving Us Money?" Xu Jing said in surprise.

"We can't take It!" Wu Yuanfei immediately said.

Guo Xiang smiled faintly. Foreigners and Chinese people expressed their gratitude in different ways. They might just feel that it was a pleasure to help others, but giving money felt a little insulting, especially for students who were extremely righteous.

Guo Xiang was a descendant of the later generations, so she did not mind it. If it were a few days ago, she might have really accepted it because she was poor. But now that she had money, she did not care about this little bit of money.

"We can't take it!" Guo Xiang shook her head, put the money on the coffee table, and said to Emma, "We in China have a good tradition of helping others without expecting anything in return. You are putting us in a very difficult position..." Guo Xiang said very tactfully.

"I..." Emma blushed. She didn't expect it to be like this. She quickly said, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!"

Guo Xiang waved her hand. "It's just a different culture in China. Don't take it to heart!"

Seeing that there was nothing else, Guo Xiang said to the three students, "Should we go?"

"Okay!" The three of them nodded at the same time and stood up.

Emma thanked them again and again. Before they went out, she stuffed two packets of German specialty sausages and a bottle of coffee beans for them.

When they reached downstairs, Guo Xiang gave the sausages to the students. "Take this. As for the coffee beans, I'll keep them."

"Keep it. We're not used to it anyway!" The three of them nodded.

"I'll get going now!" Guo Xiang said goodbye to the three students and went to the bus station to catch a bus to find Gu Zhennan.
